If you look real close ... the train actually "spears" the car. You can see it attached to the locomotive a few feet off the tracks holding the car up and probably to keep it from gouging the ties and ballast.
that train is in comision on the fillmore&western in california. i was there today and was like "that train looks firmilier is that train from rails&ties" to the rail worker and he said "maybe i don't know:
For those who dislike it and say it isn't actual footage. I think the train ran into the car. Looked pretty actual to me. So what if it's a film set...it's still actual crash footage.
My god, lucky all those people with cameras were there to capture this and right at the end there you see a guy with a rocket launcher, must be in afganistan
In filmmaking, almost all sound effects are added in post. That's why there's no horn here but in the film, there is. Good film too. Wish there was a bit more train action though!
I think I have seen this movie! The title escapes me, but the movie is about a sick woman who commits suicide by train and tries to take her son with her. Later, the orphaned son meets the engineer of the train (played by Kevin Bacon)...
Now I know the sound that is made, when a train hits a car. Too bad they didn't have multiple camera's set up, so one could see better, for investigation purposes. A young man was killed at a crossing 6 months ago, still under investigation. A witness who had her back to the train, standing about 30 feet way in her driveway, heard it hit the car. It dragged it 230 feet b4 separating from the train. Many people are messed up over it, me included.
so do the studios own their own stretches of track or is rail service actually interrupted for stuff like this? I bet that's quite a "permit required" situation. cool clip though
i was actually there (on crew) and the train was only allowed to go like 30 mph, but the crash was still violent and scary! I think the car was like a junk Chevy Corsica or something like that. It took a while for the train to stop!
I believe you're thinking of the main line of the U.P. through San Timoteo Canyon. This isn't it. Or, you might be thinking of the spur line that breaks off from BNSF main line at Grand Terrace that feeds businesses in Perris, Hemet, and San Jacinto. This isn't it either. This looks more like the old SP spur line near Fillmore.
This looks an awful lot like the begining of season 5? of 24... i think? The one where the terrorists stop a train like this. Or was that filmed at night. Oh yea....
Ironically, I'm pretty sure this is the train that Allstate used in one of their safe drivers commercials, featuring "President David Palmer" of course.
Film in the camera? You mean that wasn't the rehearsal?
