  • I love this!

  • Drew Carey...singing...well? :O

  • Comment removed

  • NBC is stealing your thunder, guys!

  • Daniel Radcliffe is still better! Can't get any better than Harry Potter! ;)

  • drew carey recently played the dad in the musical hairspray with nick jonas

  • i remember bits and peices of this show from when i was really little, but i never actually got to watch it when i could understand it. what a shame, its hilarious

  • Time for everyone's favorite game. Hoedown!

  • Am I the only one to think that Daniel Radcliffe does this better?

  • BRING THIS SHOW TO DVD

  • Drew Carey... Can sing??

  • @1MissKarlieStarr He couldcarry the tune at least.

  • @tommytimp which he does :P

  • I never knew Drew Carey could sing like this! Awesome!

  • mimi just kills me!!!

  • Love the show, and i love the way they incorporated the songs on the show, currently re-watching all the episodes again...GREAT SHOW! thumbs up!

  • I wish this song was on the CD that Drew released of songs from his show.

  • TEN MILLION POINTS!

  • LAWL, I still applaud at the end fo this number everytime this episode comes on.

  • The Drew Carey Show never ceases to amaze me at the number of broadway hits they do :)

  • Drew Carey should so take over from John Laroquette when Darren Criss takes over from DanRad!

  • I've been a Bob Morse fan all my life, but he, Broderick, and Radcliffe pale in comparison to this rendition. It has such heart. It will always be my personal favorite! Nicely done, Drew! why aren't you on Broadway, my dear?????

  • 11 people aren't in the brotherhood of man

  • I think Daniel Radcliffe and Drew Carey should do a duet

  • @NickFury182 Drew Carey would do that in a heartbeat! I always loved the strange musical interludes on this show.

  • Hmmm, not a fan. It was decent, but being a huge fan of the original, and the movie, this one falls lower on the list of versions that are out there.

  • I like this verson better than the movie and the two play revivals

  • The first time I heard the song was on this show hahaha

  • who said Wayne was the only Whose Line guy who could sing? haha

  • @zeldagirly22 ryan too. Ryan is a very good singer. he just didnt like to improvise the song cause its real hard to do.

  • 10 people think Matthew Broderick rocks!

  • TV Show WIN.

  • For my money, Drew outshined even Robert Morse in this number. A masterstroke.

  • This is Drew singing, obviously. A great job. But Robert Morse is the legend.

  • 10 people also either seemed incompitent, did not make sense, or looked liked quite a waste of company expense...

  • 10 people were not admitted into the brotherhood of man...

  • @Ivanbial it doesn't sound like morse

  • @Ivanbial its drew singing, look at other videos that he sings in, ex the love song.or when hes in the band, its really him, i also believe mimi is actually singing, though there voices might have both been edited a bit for the video like all other artists are.

most people on this show sang at one point or another, it was a talented cast

  • @Ivanbial It was Drew. Robert Morse doesn't sound like that, and Drew likes singing.

  • a little better than what we did in our musical for school

  • he's a pretty good singer! Well done Carey, well done! lol

  • Frank Loesser's songwriting is so superb, so consistently great. What a showstopper, just like Sit Down Your Rocking The Boat. Drew Carey and company did Mr Loesser wonderful justice.

  • ugh......daniel radcliffe will ruin this on b'way. i mean this is just genius.

  • @Zazou447460 I think Daniel Radcliffe could do a damn good job with this. Why do you think he will ruin it?

  • gee wiz, what an underrated show.

  • I was not expecting this to be as good as it was!! It was very well done

  • Hal Linden messed up the Miss Mary Mack slap routine. DAMN! lol

  • Love this video, and the song, too!!

  • A sitcom with a full-blown Broadway-style musical number.....Does any show running today break the mold like Drew did? I think not.

  • soooo this is super funny a because i love drew carey and b because we are doing that musical at school hahahaha

  • That just...made my day so much

  • Was that actually Mimi singing? She has a great voice if so o=

  • I think this is actually better than the movie version, or at least as good; it just builds and builds. The Mathew Broderick version breaks the momentum of the piece with scat singing and doesn't give you that emotional kick that this one does. Of course, I love Robert Morse too. He's brilliant on Mad Men.

  • Oh, this is fantastic. Just... I just died a little bit of laughter.

  • Drew Carey is Pure Genius!

  • drew carrys musical numbers. this is whats missing from tv these days

  • its the brotherhood of MAN.....get these bitches outta there

  • Drew has one heck of a voice!!:)

  • this is why i loved this show, how many other shows in the 90's had show-stopping numbers as good as this? none

  • @Theburn77 Eh, no older comedy shows. Animainiacs were pretty good, though!

  • Maybe Drew should do broadway

  • If you really pay attention, you can pick out similarities between her speaking voice and her singing. It is definitely her. I've been singing since I was 5 and I've worked as a vocal coach so...even if nothing about the singing matched her speaking voice at all (which it does) it could still have been possible to be her considering that a lot of people's singing don't match their speaking. Mine certainly doesn't

  • @rissababynta no, it wasn't her. if you look at the song from the movie, they have the same exact voice. Mimi is just miming to her voice.

  • @rissababynta actually never mind, i just went back to see the original versian, and Mimi is actually singing. they sound similiar but mimi's is actually higher.

  • 3:16 Did Oswald spin too much?

  • i never knew drew could sing!

  • Re: Mimi singing. That is most assuredly Kathy Kinney singing. Women's voices usually come from higher in the respiratory system (called head voice...would be considered falsetto in men), while men's come from deeper ("chest voice"...considering belting in women). Men's speaking and singing voices are therefore far more similar to one another as well as naturally louder. Drew's voice is most definitely being dubbed in as well, but is less noticeable.

  • Listen closely to the accent and inflection at the end of each line of Mimi's part. It is certainly Kathy Kinney's. At the very least, it is a professional voice artist imitating her voice, and this show is not one to have done that rather than just use the actor's own voice. If they were going to "fake" a voice for that part, I feel character wise, they would have had Mrs. Louder do that part, which seems to reinforce they were showcasing Kathy's singing voice.

  • my god we could solve all the worlds problems by making a musical lesson for each.

  • You know what's weird?

Drew Carey sining kinda reminds me of James Urbaniak

  • It's is actually Mimi singing.

There's another episode(I think it the second season) were her and Wick have a 10 second song.

  • I love this scene!!!!!!!

  • Reminds me of a comment to this video...

  • i think i like the robert morse version for a number of reasons

though drew carey is a good singer

  • It is such an unusual, appealing song, give me a call and we shall sing it together. Who cares about voices?

    Oh that noble feeling.

  • The woman who plays Mimi is, indeed, singing her own part. What a lot of people don't seem to realize is that she uses a character voice when she speaks, and add that to the fact that a lot of women sing nothing like how they speak and it makes sense.

  • it actually isnt the women playing Mimi singing. In the Robert Morse version, the women singing voice is exactly like what Mimi is singing like. She lip-singed it.

  • I love how to succeed! and this just made my day.

  • I love Drew Carey's voice :D I so wanna be serenaded by him XD

  • mimi is singing also...why ppl think she's not...i don't know...

  • coz she is obvasley being dubbed.

  • her singing voice doesn't match her normal voice, that's how you can tell she's dubbed. Drew's matches...

  • Ever seen the little shop of horrors? The female lead has one of those stereotypical whiny voices, but her singing voice is completely different.

Your singing voice does not have to sound like your actual voice. Especially with females.

  • @GunslingerGirlTriela I wouldn't even call Audrey's voice sterotypical or whiny. Where else have you heard a voice like hers? She's known to actually have a pretty darn original voice.

But yes, I agree with everything you've said besides that, haha

  • I always loved the musical numbers they did in this show. Cool vid.

  • @stryker5889 I know. Unlike most shows when they just stuck a number for the sake of a joke, these songs always managed to fit them in very well. Plus they can SING! That's pretty important :)

  • Bought the Drew Carey show soundtrack many years ago, was disappointed to see this was not included.

  • Ooh, I didn't know there was a soundtrack. I'm going to go search for that...

  • It's drews birthday today, rofl.

    Happy Birthday Drew!

  • That's one of the few times I remember them showing the elusive "sales floor".

  • Drew is reall y singing. Mimi is dubbed.

  • How do you know Mimi is dubbed? Is that not really her singing? I'm studying voice so I'm interested in any information you have. Thanks!

  • Is he really sining? :D

  • Also, holy shit at that Shawn Kemp jersey. The Cavs have come a long way.

  • I am completely blown away by how good this actually was. Well played, Mr. Carey. Well played indeed.

  • This version > original > Broderick's version. Quite comfortably.

  • My office never once burst into song and dance

  • mine did... though it wasn't really an office it was the set of our production of H2$

  • drew carry is a surprisingly good singer.

  • wow- I just thought he did nothing, but he has a good singing voice

  • You and me had that idea from Wayne Brady while he was making fun of Drew. But still, great clip.

  • AWESOMENESS!!!! =]

really solid performance there. especially Drew, he has a good singing voice.

  • My high school did this show one year for their spring musical. I played in the pit orchestra as the lead trombone player. Most fun I've ever had playing music.

  • What a weird show. I miss it.

  • I don't know if that's Mimi singing, but it actually sounds different from the original woman.

  • I can tell you for sure that it's not lyp-synced

  • It doesn't sound like it was lip-synced, as the actual song sounds quite different. However, I believe the part Mimi is supposed to be singing is lip-synced, as that sounds exactly like the original movie version of the song. And the CEO was dutch, not swedish. The accent is a slight mix of french and german.

  • Actually the whole song was recorded by the actors of this show so that was mimi's voice but it was modified. The song was lyp-synced but it was a version of the drew carey show and that's what is great about this show. They did it with over musical numbers too.

  • that show really fit that song.

  • So does anyone know if this is actually them singing? I know all of the other music videos are lip-synced but this one, being one of the last ones, might be real. It also sounds a lot like all of them (I know they could have added in the Swedish CEO). Anyone know?

    P.S.

Sharon was by far the best of his girlfriends (except maybe Lisa)...

  • This show has a lot more musical numbers than I remember. lol

  • lol at craig when he gets hit by a ball

  • Drew pwns

  • Drew is so awesome.

  • The movie of "How to Succeed" should have filmed this number exactly like this

  • who is the ginger one?

  • That's Nicki, played by Kate Walsh, formerly of "Grey's Anatomy" and now on "Private Practice". :-)

Interestingly Kate (Christa Miller Lawrence) also ended up on a hospital-themed show as well, in the form of "Scrubs". :-)

  • Lol that's not Nicki! That was Drew's current girlfriend at the time. I can't remember her name but she was a plumber

  • Oh! :) You mean Sharon! LOL

My mistake; hehe I don't know why I thought it was Nicki. lol :-)

  • this was amazing! not as good as the time warp in my opinion but still awesome!

  • omg is that really Mimi singing???? thats amazing even if it isnt!

  • I miss this show, sure the later years weren't that great, but when this show was in its prime, there was no better sitcom on TV IMO.

  • Excellently done. I love it.

  • This was such fun to see! I've never seen it before (actually didn't follow Drew Carey).

I saw this number live in the 90' when the revival of "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying" was on Broadway; there's a clip here, starring Matthew Broderick. A thoroughly enjoyable night!!

  • This is the kind of stuff that made me a fan of The Drew Carey Show. I love that he's unabashed in his love of musicals and that he brought musical production numbers right into primetime TV.

  • Although I watched the Drew Carey show sporadically, I missed this particular episode.

I love this performance of "Brotherhood of Man". It is from the 1960's musical "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying" (my second all-time favorite movie). Listening to this song brings back memories of when I worked on the stage crew for this same musical in high school.

Whoever from The Drew Carey show came up with this idea gets my vote of praise.

Thank you for posting this here.

  • hardly ever watched the drew carey show (don't watch much prime time) but that was a great skit.

  • thier BEST song act! :)

  • their BEST dong act :)

  • That was awesome!

  • Funny and has a message. Drew makes it work.

  • I got to perform this musical in high school. Best music and most fun I've ever had in a long long time.

  • What a voice! Please sing to me what I have won on the Price is Right, puh...lease kind sir. Fan of Carey.

  • bellissimooooo

  • who is the guy he is singing too?? I recogonize him, but can't place him.

  • That's Hal Linden, who starred as Barney Miller - also long time star of Broadway.

  • I thought so but was not sure. Thanks jim!!

  • Ah, i love the parody of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" very funny.

  • and also some of the words he sings you can hear his cleveland accent coming through

  • this is drew singing coz its sounds the exact same as gepetto and i dont think robert morse sung that for him

  • Brilliant video! Love it. I have a secret crush on Drew.

  • its not a secret if u tell (oj)

    i do to

  • I don't know what it is, but I find him so interesting....lol

  • same here!!!

  • I wonder how many viewers got the reference when this episode aired?

  • Wow, this is surprisingly well

  • It's great fun-- but I don't think Drew is singing, I think this is a lip-sync of Robert Morse from the movie.

  • That is definitely Drew. Listen to him sing "Moon over Parma". Also, Robert Morse's version is on youtube and he definitely sounds different and stresses different words. Plus the transition from Drew singing to Drew talking is perfect (there are no differences in tone and pitch).

  • Trust me, this is definitely Drew.

  • Yeah it is definatly drew.

  • That really is Drew.

  • Yes that is Drew singing.

  • this makes me think of the episode of ally mcbeal when the whole courtroom burst out into trouble from the music man!

  • why is this song so damn catchy. I had it stuck in my head for like 3 days once

  • wow, it amuses me that a sitcom actually a song from a musical. and pulled it off well. nice.

  • i love 1:50

  • omg they should sooo make the drew carey show into a musical :D

  • I agree. Drew should do a musical. He has the voice to pull it off. Drew's voice is powerful.

  • like on Whose Line on Let's make a date where ryan had to do Drew Carey: The Musical!!!

  • agreed!!

    P.S. lov ur name!

  • omg. i'm miss jones in the actual show this year, and this is hillarious!

  • Heh :P Always loved Carey's voice as a singer. Too bad he doesn't do more vocal work.

  • Wow, this is actually really good!

  • Let's not forget Hal Linden in this scene. He was a great Broadway performer in the 1960's, leading to a Tony award for The Rothschilds in 1971 and eventually to fame as Barney Miller in 1975.

  • This is a pretty good adaptation of the song, considering it was done as a scene for a sitcom

  • it really is!

  • I LOVED it when they did these musical numbers! The steps may have been simple, but it was always very snappy, and I loved watching how everybody was involved. They only hired a few professional extras.

I miss this show so much.

  • Trust me, as someone who has no dance ability, don't let the simple steps fool you. The cast of this show could dance, simple steps or not. And many of them could actually sing

  • As a former dancer, I know this ;-) I also know Diedrich Bader has had a pretty largely successful career in acting that nobody expects because he just melts into the background when he's not working.

And that's the way he likes it xD
