I was (5) when 'Batman' hit the airwaves in 1966 - the absolute perfect age! Obviously, I didn't understand the campiness of the show at the time - to me this was deadly serious stuff!! No, he was dark even darker than he is now in the 50s, it was a film noir detective style comic book about more of an anti hero. Then the association of mothers against batman probably came up and the editors decided to make it campy in the 60s. Thanks god he came back almost as dark as he was.
