This movie goes a way you don't expect (plotwise), it transcends all cliches (new york, racial, bank robbery, and otherwise) and even the intro/ending music (the Bollywood song) was pretty good.

Well about the "repeats himself" critique, the movie begins in medias res, or with a flashforward. The line is shown later, not physically repeated by the character. Also, we find out enough information about Dalton Russel and we are enough into about him to still follow his humanities without the background information requested by these critics.

i think in terms of those details they are right in a sense, but, somehow i prefer that i don't know how the fuck jodie got all this power, and as for not knowing who clive owen is - i couldn't care less because the movie was entertaining. I love that moment before he beats up the guy who tries to hide the fone when you see him weighing up the options; and the 'flashforward' interview scenes were genius This movie is about characters and newyorkisms it explains the past when it needs to for me

Really great Drama/Thriller. Clive Owen was brilliant here - smart and elusive. Jodie Foster was the main trophy here - this movie wouldn't be that great without her. Denzel Washington was great as always.

Don't agree with this review, but hey, it's just an opinion. Mine is that all the clues are there as to character identity, and the background thread of the plot. The fact it isn't spoon-fed to the audience is what gives this film it's credibility, and shouldn't be held against it. That's nothing short of penalising it for not having a patronising, tired and predictable exposition device that treats you like a toddler.

OK these 2 guys obvious don't have anything better to do than to relate this film to several other things that really don't mean anything. The film was able to do something that can be hard to do. This is to trick the viewer from the plot "rail" they're on and outsmart their prediction about how the movie will finish.

I agree with the lack of background on some of the characters making things feel a little off sometimes, but overall I REALLY liked this movie. I thought the plot was unique, the parts well acted, and I loved the twist at the end. (Even though they told us at the beginning the twist was coming, it was still great.) I would definitely recommend it, and the soundtrack is awesome.
