Too Cool!! I saw Danny play SSB at Flood Zone in Richmond around '90 and it was mind-blowing; he played it hyperspeed a lot different than this version, between than an Linus and Lucy it pretty much cemented my (still held) belief that no one could touch Danny--he broke the mold!
thanks for posting this..what a sense of humour the man had..like a standup comedian who just happens to play the best guitar anyone ever heard..lmfao
Danny speaks his own language, one he makes up himself beat to beat, a rare thing. Of course I'm speaking in the present tense here, what a loss to to us all. On the bright side, the snow falls in Dublin at -2C to the humble sound of a tele in the hands the master.........'To ti ên einai.'
I haven't seen these b/w clips before - thank you so much for posting. Danny made the guitar sound precisely like it had sounded in my mind long before I came across him - full and infinitely versatile. He played the instrument with such authority. Awesome.
@AnnihilatingAngel Hello , I remember you; the name rings a bell. Forgive me, I"ve been off youtube dong projects but am back on to show youtube what I know and what I have, for knowledge of his best shows and solos from 68-94 I would say me and not to brag I'm real serious; I didn't say the biggest DG collector; who knows who is???
Amazing rare video. I saw more elements of Danny's playing I hadn't seen/heard before. Hadn't heard him use a distortion box sound before. The version of "Star Spangled Banner" surprisingly must have been influenced by Jimi Hendrix at Woodstoock. The southern Maryland Link Wray influence is no surprise but sounded exact.
@YT28666 THE PRETTY BLUE VERSION FROM CLUB SODA THIS GIG SHOWN HERE IS AWESOME. PRETTY BLUE HIS SOLO AT ONE PINT IS A FLURRY OF NOTES THAT JUST FLOW OUT OF HIM. MANY TIMES SOME OF HIS BEST SOLOS HE EVER PLAYED DANNY DOESN'T EVEN REMEMBER WHAT HE PLAYED; AMAZING.
@YT28666 from 2;45-2:53 LISTEN TO THE FLOWING NOTES; AMAZING BUT THIS IS A DIFFERENT ANIMAL LIKE BREAU, AND SCOTTY. Honorable mention to wes, Johny Smith, & Bryant. From this 3-10- 88 Club Soda gig the best licks are Pretty Blue, and Remington Ride.
He's frickin' glazed..... !!

Pretty Blue 2:22 to 3:10 -- that's some really tasty playing. He really has the vibe down on the the link ray stuff.

There is no style he couldn't play - and play better than anyone else. Simply the greatest genius who ever touched a guitar.
