I think this is one of the nicest vidoes on youtube. When I watch it, my worries melt away and I imagine being in the wilderness, enjoying nature, fishing. I have the album that the second song is from - pls could you tell me what the first song is. Thanks for posting.
cant stand fishing in lakes myself, always forget the mosquito repellent, and i moved to the silver valley in north idaho (only a 30 min drive to montana) about 4 years ago from california and i understand completely why people up here dont like californians, people up here are so mutch nicer, see how many random people wave hi to you in your town if you live in california or a place like it, its easy to adapt up here
I used to hate it too but I hear you on the people up there I grew up in NJ and NY and to go from there to the Bozone is total night and day!! I wouldnt trade it for the world!!!
Born and raised in great falls mt. Let me clear all this up. We HATE out of staters that ACT like out of staters. Quite a few peeps i've met have come here and hit the ground running because they fit right in and blended in. Most "out of staters" have a snobby attitude that they know this or that better and want to change stuff,...and or do it their way. General consensus says then if u want it the old way go the F back to where u came from. If u have grit and are honestly good. You'll be golden
Totally its the same as Alaska in that respect. Mind your business shut up and fish with etiquette. You have to respect the locals and why try and change it to suit you. You dont go around stepping on toes. Its a place that can break you, you have to be a certain breed to live up there.
Montana is a pretty place but the state of Montana actually dislikes out of state people in a big way. It is it very very true. They will smile to your face and talk a lot of trash about you behind your back if they you are from "Out of state" as they call it. It is a real misnomer that people from Montana are "Real good people". Be careful there if you visit. To the guy that put together this vdeo, great job. I am just being honest about my experinces there. Sorry if it sounds negative.
I moved to montana from out of state a few years back and had similiar experiences. You just gotta buck up and let em know you aint gonna take any shit. So let me correct your error. The people of montana are real good people and some dislike out of staters mostly cause city folk are dicks.
ok so i used to live in mt and there were these series of 3 or 4 alpine lakes one of which had a damn are these those lakes? umm i forgot the name i think one was called something like emerald lake...but what is the name of this lake it looks familiar
when I was small I thought fly fishing is when you tie a fly on your line and let it land in the water as it flys then the fish jump and eat it then it hangs onto the line then you pull it back.
If i could have my life anyway i wanted then i would pack my bags and all my fishing gear and head to the back country of Montana and just live there.
anyone who is interested in learning more about fly fishing may also find the book "Fly Fishing for Dummies" useful. it explains how to identify the best fish to fly fish, how to improve your catch and release techniques how to choose the right rod, reel, and gear to land the fish you are after etc
Thank You. Had a hard day at work, and watching this vid gives me hope. Helps me to keep things in perspective. Spring is coming, and the fish will still be there.
I caught a big ( 7 lb) Brown trout in the Clark`s Fork. I was using 6 lb test. Browns like to try to break off under the bank. I ran my hand down the line until I found her. Just as I hauled the hen in,4 men floated by. They had been dropping caddis and salmon flies all day and catching nothing. I felt sorry for them ---nightcrawlers,grasshoppers, crickets, and hatched flies work well. Hey! Whatever works!! Especially when you are hungry.
yah i tend to agree with cerealchiller the clark fork is pretty disgusting... and if you want to catch some fish that are good for eating go get yourself some stocked brookies or rainbows in the lakes and leave the big boys in the river where they belong

Love Montana as well lil' bro got me into fly-fishing and weve been going to Montana and Wyoming for last three years every year. We have always done well there and also on Long Lake near Top of the World Wyo. right on Beartooth Hwy. My favorite spot is the outflow of Long Lake other side of the Beartooth Hwy. See my video here on youtube for the nice brookie i caught under the bridge. Was big to me considering the brookies here on East Coast..happy fishing!!

yes. We wear light-weight waders. Actually a tube is not necessary to reach most of the fish which are near shore.

Not a problem as long as you keep food suspended from a tree away from your tent. Never had a bear problem. Mosquitoes - now that was a problem.

How much space would it take to pack one into the wilderness areas?
I usually just fish from the bank. I can't fit any more gear because I usually take a daypack.
But I've always wanted to use a float tube to get to those hidden or hard to reach good fishing spots.
consistentbass 3 years ago
Float tube is not really needed - bank fishing is fine. Use a #16 Adams - they loved it.
Titletown 2 years ago
We would probably not bother taking a float tube again as casting from shore was good enough.
