Honda GX 160 Problem:

I just bought this used engine off of craigslist.  I got it all oiled, cleaned, and added some gas/other fluids and started it with the choke. It starts fine, but idles extremely high, and when I let off the choke, the engine cuts out. When I say high, I mean it is cappednas high as the governor allows, 3600RPM.

Help?

What you could have done was make a restrictor, a gasket, even a piece of beercan with a small hole cut in the middle. Then as she grew into it you make the hole gradually larger. that's how the karting racing federations deal with it.

That go kart will get wrecked because the centrifugel clutch is too close to the cog. I have that identical engine and i built a chassis for it, but i was going to use a dingo chassis instead but the clutch was too close...and it fucked up....It needs to be as close to horizontal as it can be to be very quick and to let the clutch bite easily...But i guess it alright, u just need a roll cage, its very unsafe...

u shoulda taken off the governor so it can rev higher and if u take off the stock muffler and cut the mounting flange off with a bit of the pipe like an inch or so n get about 5 or 6 inches of the same diameter pipe n take some fatter pipe thats about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch bigger n weld it on n cut the end at an angle it looks sick n sounds like a harley n it gives it more power i did this for my minibike n it had so much more power and take the box off the air filter so it has more air flow to
