In one of the regular episodes, Odo helped Security kill one of the changelings by having multiple people concentrate their phasers on him. That is how they disintegrate/vaporize them. That's why he was tried and "convicted" by the Founders and his 'sentence' was to live as a human, at least until one of the changelings gave that property back to him later on.
Why not? This shows that he is easy to kill. So why can't Federation and Klingon commandos just go on a rampage and kill Founders in the Dominion War?
Starfleet, etc, had the Dominion at its knees and were about to destroy the Founders home world.
Odo had somehow contracted a disease that affected the 'woman' when they linked. Bashir found the antidote for Odo and when the 'woman' started rotting away, he went to her and pretty much said stop this war or I'll let all of you all die.
She relented, he "healed" her and in the end, went back to the "Great Link" to 'heal' his people. As he left Kira at the "shore" (LOL) he had much to do.
