I know sometimes it looked like he annoyed the animals but its a small price to pay for opening peoples eyes

Someone like Attenborough merely observes, actual interaction with the animals is kept to a bare minimum, photographers lie in wait for days on end in order to get the perfect shot and the show is much better because of it.

Irwin's attitude was unbelievably immature, and in the end it got him killed. He raised awareness, but did it by appealing to the lowest common denominator. He wasn't bad, but he wasn't a hero.
