I'm glad thousands of people have woken up to the sickness at the heart of EVE and turned back to real life. And I played for 5 years, so STFU about not knowing EVE well.

To all the people complaining about this match: You have absolutely no clue how much effort and time we invested in preparation for this tournament. Get a clue and get better at Eve.

Every year I watch the tournament and it usually inspires me to re-sub my account and search for that elusive small gang action that a) I enjoy and b) ATs are supposed to showcase. Can't believe I got home early to watch this crap live, wont be watching next year. If you cant stop match fixing CCP take the prizes out. Maybe then people will play for fun and alliance pride once more instead of packing their wallet at any cost.

These teams are basically a single unit who entered as two teams, the guy that apparently masterminded it flies for Hydra so they gave the official 'win' to them. Afterwards they posted an apology saying they intended to make a fight of it but got their wires crossed.
Personally I think it was an unfortunate end to the tourney, but they did beat every other team to get there, don't see it as as big a deal as a lot of people seem to.
I get both sides of the coin... But this outcome made the entire Tourniment not really worth watching... I won't be rescheduling my weekends to watch ATX...

Just like EVE its not decided completely in combat, there are other things involved intel on other teams, collaboration with other teams. this fight was set but both teams also had legit fights that they won fair and square. they made sure people did not have intel on them but had intel at others
Listen everyone, eve is cheating (just look at that casuality trailer) almost alway's people in eve get shot for no reason (happened me 4 times) or they steal all the money of a corp (there is just cheating in eve that's just part of the game that makes it al little bit cooler)
Stop crying. Nothing here was against the rules. It was just really poor entertainment. That combined with all of the "in jokes" between the commentators, CCPs showcase tournament really doesn't say much for EVE or their understanding of marketing.
If this is what EVE is all about, weigh it up and ask yourself if it is for you, then move along. Simples.
Okay, so you didn't get a "true" battle. But this tournament and the last were *both* won by metagame (spying, intelligence, bribery, et al), all of which are part of EVE. Both teams beat their opoonents fair and square, both teams helped each other with intelligence, and then chose the victor. The real gripe is not that the match was boring (it was interesting to see the metagame become so blatant here), but that nobody outside of EVE could see the metagame, along with most of those inside.
@JayLPsShiz Well I think the alliance tournament is not like regular eve as a matter of fact. It's a demo of skill for each alliance, sending their champions to represent them.
I think this kind of metagame is out of place in this tournament. Being able to register several alliances when there is really only one is clearly bending the rules to begin with.
Kudos to them for their victories, it just sad for me who watched the game "live" to see this kind of stuff :(
@startide I understand where you're coming from, startide, and I do sympathise... but one of the problems is that there's little, if any method of controlling the metagame aspects (specifically the intelligence and counter-intelligence). If we could actually get better news on some of this stuff, we'd probably have a better experience all round, but the teams themselves have demonstrated that they sometimes watch the stream while tourneying, so it's difficult to resolve.

EvE is a game, when you don't want to play a game and instead meta game, no one will want to play with you because you obviously don't want to play to begin with.

Well, it is just sad is all I have to say. Meta gaming is fine. The fact is this took away from the spirit of the tournament. I have no doubt the commentators were sitting there thinking..."this sucks, we have to keep talking about this for 10 minutes...dude."
Learn and change the rules for the next tournament. It would have been better if Outbreak just brought 10 shuttles to make it fast.

I'm not entirely down with how they worked together to get the first and second spots, as I'd rather see a completely each team for themselves type tournament, but I have to give them credit for the fact that they pulled it off. Their whole plan could have be screwed if they had lost other matches earlier in the tournament.

Well, what an anti climax, watched some great rounds coming to this and all I witnessed was a joke. Made the Alliance tourney a joke, I will not be watching this next year, tell that to your sponsors CCP....one less mug watching your NVIDIA and Shattered Crystal advertising. I hope CCP cut the prizes next year, make it about the Kudos and you will get a little less metagaming.

If you play eve and never had fun picking out spies or competing in an AT or even going on a ganking run in null sec you are missing out on all the "dirty" fun that is EVE online

Every year I watch the tournament and it usually inspires me to re-sub my account and search for that elusive small gang action that a) I enjoy and b) ATs are supposed to showcase. Can't believe I got home early to watch this crap live, wont be watching next year. If you cant stop match fixing CCP take the prizes out. Maybe then people will play for fun and alliance pride once more instead of packing their wallet at any cost.

@Thaodean They stopped trying to do damage and let Hydra win. These teams are basically a single unit who entered as two teams, the guy that apparently masterminded it flies for Hydra so they gave the official 'win' to them. Afterwards they posted an apology saying they intended to make a fight of it but got their wires crossed.
Personally I think it was an unfortunate end to the tourney, but they did beat every other team to get there, don't see it as as big a deal as a lot of people seem to.

@vargata lol they did not buy this match outbreak and hydra are basicly the same alliance Outbreak was in Hydra until very short before the tournament, they trained together on the test server. no buying games or anything, they managed to get into the final together meaning they did a very good job to win first and second place

@bayouboyy I love all the responses to this comment, all the people crying about what should or should not happen. the AT is a competition its just not as linear as most people want a competition to be.
Just like EVE its not decided completely in combat, there are other things involved intel on other teams, collaboration with other teams. this fight was set but both teams also had legit fights that they won fair and square. they made sure people did not have intel on them but had intel at others

Stop crying. Nothing here was against the rules. It was just really poor entertainment. That combined with all of the "in jokes" between the commentators, CCPs showcase tournament really doesn't say much for EVE or their understanding of marketing.
If this is what EVE is all about, weigh it up and ask yourself if it is for you, then move along. Simples.

Okay, so you didn't get a "true" battle. But this tournament and the last were *both* won by metagame (spying, intelligence, bribery, et al), all of which are part of EVE. Both teams beat their opoonents fair and square, both teams helped each other with intelligence, and then chose the victor. The real gripe is not that the match was boring (it was interesting to see the metagame become so blatant here), but that nobody outside of EVE could see the metagame, along with most of those inside.

@JayLPsShiz Well I think the alliance tournament is not like regular eve as a matter of fact. It's a demo of skill for each alliance, sending their champions to represent them.
I think this kind of metagame is out of place in this tournament. Being able to register several alliances when there is really only one is clearly bending the rules to begin with.
Kudos to them for their victories, it just sad for me who watched the game "live" to see this kind of stuff :(

@startide I understand where you're coming from, startide, and I do sympathise... but one of the problems is that there's little, if any method of controlling the metagame aspects (specifically the intelligence and counter-intelligence). If we could actually get better news on some of this stuff, we'd probably have a better experience all round, but the teams themselves have demonstrated that they sometimes watch the stream while tourneying, so it's difficult to resolve.
