  • This brings back some memories....

  • A good, fun premise for a big screen family movie (kind of like "Escape to Witch Mountain"). Sadly if they did try to do this as a movie it would be an absolute mess like "Land of the Lost" with Will Ferrell (who has played the same obnoxious, self centered half wit character in ALL his movies lately).

  • @webkins32 If you liked this check out my other video titled "The Lost Saucer Movie Trailer.

  • Gomer Pyle, leaving the town of Mayberry, spent several years in the USMC. While on patrol, he was abducted by aliens who performed strange experiments on him. Gomer died after complications from the experiments and the aliens decided to use their technology to rebuild him using android parts. He along with another female test subject were transformed into cyborgs and their memories erased and new ones transplanted. They escaped in a flying saucer reaching earth rescuing a boy and a girl.

  • WOW! Unbelievable!!! I havent seen this intro in over 35 years!!!

  • I use to watch this show all the time. It seems corny now but it is what it is. lol

  • Wow, thanks for bringing back some childhood memories.

  • Ruth Buzzi had some ass on her.

  • Best times ever.

  • I tried to get Donny Osmond to sing this at his Vegas show, when Marie was sick and was not singing. He didn't sing it but was amazed that someone remembered it. Of course his best was the Dr Shrinker theme song

  • Is there a line? That Chikin thing would make good soup, marsala, fried.

  • lol i remember this show omg i was just a kid ... man i was a dork lol

  • Total cheese!!!! I forgot about this one.

  • The Dorse! :)

  • COOL!

  • This show should be on Sci-Fi Channel's "Cartoon Quest" later "Animation Station" to join their sister show, "Land of the Lost". But, Sci-Fi Channel (now SyFy) didn't air the series. Bummer!

  • Sure today most would think the S&M Krofft shows are pure cheese, and yes they were. However, they were not terrible to watch. Some were worse than others. I thought Lost Saucer was one of the better ones. I liked the theme song and you do have to admit the Saucer set was pretty darn cool in addition to the android costumes. Keep in mind now, this is low budget 1975 we are talking about here. I don't think they did too bad. Like I said, the Krofft brothers did worse.

  • I want His Liver :) QC

  • Completely forgot about this show.

  • loved the theme song

  • God Damn when did we kids born in the late 60's get so old so fast.

  • Damn, I loved the Sid and Marty stuff as a kid...the terrible effects and cheesy writing were SO FUN...kids today don't know (or GET) what they missed out on...;)

  • fun fun :) QC

  • Thanks for the flash-back...When Saturday morning shows were good...

  • @PatBALEX :

I can only assume you are being ironic in your use of the term "good."

  • @kneejerker Well, compared to the "Crap" they have on TV now those old shows are good...Maybe not the greatest...But at least good...... :)

  • @PatBALEX :

Crap is crap. Each generation holds excessive fondness for its own lost youth. That's what's really "lost" in Sid & Marty Kroft's saucer.

  • wow! i had totally forgot about this show, i STILL remember that dog thingie !

  • I am guessing since this show only had 16 episodes that they never had an episode where the kids got back home, and if they were to have had that, since it was a time traveling saucer,it would have been like they never left or were gone for like only a few minutes

  • isn't the black kid in this show, the same one who was "Dudley" on Diff'rent Strokes?,I always thought it was,but in the credits it says the kid's name is Jarrod Johnson,On Diff'rent strokes the kid's name is Shavar Ross

  • @delideliver Jarrod Johnson went on to play Randy Summerfield in the short lived series "Friends" (produced by Aaron Spelling in 1979), and appeared on several "Afterschool Specials". Shavar Ross played Dudley in "Diff'rent Strokes". Two different people.

  • @vinylrecord68 oh ok,I for the longest time thought they were the same person, thanks for clearing that up

  • Rest In Peace, Ms. Playten. I loved this show as a kid. A lot of fond memories come back every time I hear the theme song.

  • Where are they going in the lost saucer? I totally forgot about this show, but i loved it as a kid. Thanks for the memory!

  • Oh wow, I just found out she died. I'm really sad about that. She was so young, too. I loved her in this and as the voice of Frances in the Frances book and tape series (Bread and Jam For Frances). RIP, Alice...you will be missed. :o(

  • R.I.P. Alice Playten.

  • Rest in Peace Ms.Alice Playten, God Bless You!!!!!!!. I think that the 1970s era Saturday morning shows were and still are THE BEST!!!!!!! Good memories!!!!!!!

  • UglySean - Could be she was not answering because she was ill. Her obituary appeared today. She died Saturday 6/25/11.

  • A Lost Saucer- Far Out Space Nuts crossover would have been great

  • @nuwavevidspud it would have been cool if they had an episode where the Lost Saucer cast and the Far out Space Nuts cast, ran into each other on a diffrent planet somewhere..

  • @delideliver I think so too

  • @nuwavevidspud yes it would have,I remember an episode of Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, where Puff n Stuff made an appearance, the genie(played by Rip Taylor) did a spell and brought him to the beach,Sweet Mama(the seamonster) was going to cook him for dinner LOL

  • @delideliver so many show crossover possibilities

  • @delideliver That would be cool!! I would LOVE that a lot!!!!!!!!!!

  • Please ask Vivendi Home Entertainment on releasing "The Lost Saucer: The Complete Series", a part of "The World of Sid & Marty Krofft" collection with all 16 episodes, including interviews with the cast, the Kroffts, audio commentaries, ABC promos, trivia, etc. We're dying for the series coming to DVD.

  • I wanna wake up too early on Saturday and poor a massive bowl of Fruity Pebbles. And sub the commercials for Schoolhouse Rock.

  • I wonder. What happen to Jarrod Johnson? I remember. Jarrod Johnson use to play in Friends the mini series in 1979.

  • @da112568 I have yet to see. The babysitter, variably known as Alice Playten and Alice Playton appears to have a Facebook account - BUT IF THAT IS REALLY HER then she is accepting no messages and no friend requests, yet has a large friends list. Anyone able to contact her? Now, David Levy, aka "Barry" from Wonderbug is now a university professor in California AND HE ANSWERS EMAIL!

  • you spell his last name wrong nabors not

    nieghbosr

  • Beware the Chickaphant!!!!

  • I wonder if they have these 70's shows on DVD i would buy them in a heart beat.

  • @W0lf69 :

See -- one man's shiite is another man's treasure.

  • I remember this show! God I miss being a kid, getting up early on Saturday mornings, fixing a bowl of cereal and watching the Saturday morning shows. Too bad tv isn't what it used to be.

  • sweet!!!

  • With the troubles in today's world, I probably would go with them in the saucer.

  • Remember kids, it's okay to get into a stranger's vehicle if it's from outer space.

  • @NateSean

That sounds like the basic premise of "Doctor Who"

  • @jmcenanly1 The Doctor's companions were all over eighteen, or otherwise legally able to make their own decisions. Spaceship or not, two kids should have known better than to get on a strange vehicle with adults they didn't know.

Not that I'm trying to overanalyze, but it seems just a teensy bit socially irresponsible for Syd and Marty Kroft.

  • Jim Nabors and I had fun doing this show. We see each other annually at the Indy 500. Thanks for posting The Lost Saucer!

  • @RuthBuzzi1 Thanks for all the great memories for me as a kid growing up you were a wonderful actress

  • @RuthBuzzi1 Miz Buzzi I met you one evening at Catfish Sam's and you are honestly one of the sweetest most gracious people I have ever met it was definately my honor to meet you

  • Wow the Krofts were the Kings of Cheese! Wish that Kroft theme park would have actually happened... screw Disneyworld. ha ha

  • Wow..the saucer effect was an "Ed Wood" special. And the announcer sounds OH so interested.

  • On saturday mornings we watched the "Lost Saucer" ...on saturday nights we heard our dad stumble in , " the Lost Boozer"

  • ALL HAIL THE DORSE!

  • Clearly, the drugs available in the '70s were far superior than what we have today...

  • Nobody could create programs like Sid & Marty Krofft! Man we really need those guys doing new shows, the ones that are on now stink!

  • Sounds like "Batman" doing the voice over, I think it might be. What a crappy baby sitter to take a kid on an UFO.

  • @JENDALL714 , I guess you would not be curious and interested in checking out the UFO if it landed in front of your home.. I believe most people would find it interesting and want to check it out if anything to see if it is Actually Real or to wait for Candid Camera to show up.

  • @Astraldragon1

Oh, I would...however, just going on board because the pilots "seem friendly enough" is a bit unbelievable...then again, this was the 1970s, before the movie "Alien" came out...

  • I think that the saucer would not have gotten lost if the builders installed a decent computer instead of leaving it to a couple of lame androids, especially one modeled on Gomer Pyle! What was the dorse's function anyway, the effects of space/time travel on GMOs? The future androids were probably looking for a breeder pair to bring back the extinct human race. Whatever!

  • Does anyone remember the chickiphant the half chicken half elephant that was on this show?or am i confused about that?

  • Cool, i loved this show, but i forgot the name, thanks for posting this.

  • personally... i think i would have called the cops if jim and ruth popped out of some flying saucer in front of my house!

  • Love that voice-over: "The Lost Saucer" starring Jim Nabors and Ruth Buzzi.

  • Vivendi Home Entertainment, please release this classic series, "The Lost Saucer: The Complete Series" coming to DVD with all 16 episodes and bonus features?

    Thanks

  • 70/80'S ROCKED!

  • The opening song still grooves and makes me happy when I hear it!!!

  • The Dorse= dog + horse lol Classic!!

  • I LOVED THAT SHOW! 2 SEASONED TALENS BUZZI & NABORS!

  • Please Rhino Home Video...?

Please release "The Lost Saucer: The Complete Series" on DVD? With all episodes including interviews with the cast members including their audio commentaries and with Sid & Marty Krofft, themselves? We're very anxious for "The Lost Saucer" coming to DVD as a part of "The World of Sid & Marty Krofft" collection.

    Thanks

  • man oh man i remember this

  • Hey, I remember this series as a kid. I forgot Jim Nabors was with Ruth Buzzi. Great nostalgic stuff!

  • I would never hire that babysitter again.

Anyone else notice how almost all of the Krofft shows are about people trying to find their way home?

  • I must have been 5 or 6 watching this, and even back then the show was frustrating to me. I thought, ok, they people must be pretty smart to pilot a flying saucer, why in the heck can't they find their way back? That was always a mystery to me as a little kid.

  • Okay sid & Marty Croft. If you are reading this, you are loooooonnnnnggggg overdue for a couple of DVD box sets. do you read me loud and clear? :).

  • Ruth Buzzi turns me on a little......yuck.

  • In the 70's even corny shows like this had cool theme songs! I can't even think of a tv theme from the crap that's on these days.

  • My god, I used to love this when I was 10. I really dug the android's "consoles" on their chests. It's too bad this one is never remembered along with Pufinstuf and Land of the Lost and the Kroft's other shows.

  • man, watching this video makes me feel so old. i used to watch this show as a kid all the time. those were good old days

  • That's right kids! Get into a UFO with strangers!

  • wow...I remember this show...today, it wouldnt even be considered good enough for the WB .....

  • im 43. I remember the show. I dont recall the details. I see comments about black friends/ kids leaving home so heres my 2 cents. the age diffrence suggests that she is his babysitter. that would explain the race/age diffrence. also a teenage babysittter who lets the kid drag her into a spaceship when she is in shock about it makes more sense than other theories. its a kid show so maybee we shouldnt analize it too much. todays purple dinasaur doll growing and comming to life isnt any better,

  • @jerseyassasin1975 You're right about the babysitter plot line. I watched this when I was a kid, and I remember it being mentioned in the beginning. The better question is why the robots insisted on inviting them on board. Of course the Kroft shows always worked best when you didn't question the details. :-)

  • @jonthom11702 Kroft shows work best for the very young and the pharmaceutically enhanced. ;)

  • Who would come out of their home and climb into a flying saucer because some strangers were motioning for them to come in? Their parents must be frantic worried and heartbroken. It's serious, not a funny situation when you look at it logically!

  • @Ice883

A lot of things on TV will fall apart in your mind if you try to look at the logically!

  • that was my favorite along with Electra woman and Dyna Girl, Isis, and then Shazam. that was good TV back then! Thanks for finding this vintage show!

  • the 70s were more prgressive than the tv now cos no white ppl have black friends on tv these days except everybody hates Chris and Good Luck CHarlie BTW I am white and this bothers me

  • @HimeNoKuri Remember, Jackson use to have a black friend name Cooper on Hannah Montana. I wonder what happen to him?

  • @simwrangler yeah I know! that is so weird! and there are no Tom and Helen Willises on TV anymore either! seems like tv is going backwards

  • This actually looks better than Land of the Lost which I also loved to watch.

  • Fancast has a listing for it on their site. We should suggest they put them online.

There should be a DVD release too.

  • Yeah, I am also guilty of liking the whole Kroft Superstars line-up. Corny as heck, but when I was a kid, I was entertained.

  • the 70s kicked ass

  • I so forgot I use to love watching this show. To think such greats did this schlock. Can't really remember more about the series. Maybe I watched it while in a sugar coma.

  • Its little known that Alice playten, the teen girl in this show, went on to play Blix in legend.

  • HA-HAAAAAAA!!! I used to LOVE me some "Lost Saucer!" FANTASTIC POST!!!

  • Watch the kids happily board a strange alien spacecraft! Kids are sure lucky there were goofy androids and not face sucking, chest bursting insectoids!

  • @Tito1701 ... or disected ! Or used as guinea pigs in gruesome experiments ! Ever see those interviews with people who were actually abducted by aliens ? .. they're traumatized wrecks !

  • Man, I can't be this old. I used to watch this as a kid. Along with HR Puffinstuff and all that other corny-as-hell stuff. We LOVED it as kids. Watching it now, I have to wonder what the hell our parents were feeding us back then that we thought this was entertainment.

  • @brian1969a

Yeah...we are that old. I was right there with you on Saturday mornings watching this show.

    .

    Where has the time gone?

    .

To tell you the painful truth brian ------- TAKE ME BACK TO 1975...PLEASE!!!

  • @ThoughtTraveler AND brian1969a, you're both EXACTLY right. TV was worth the electricity then...

  • lolol

  • I remember this show when I was in first or second grade

  • I remember this Show when I was young. I loved it. I also loved Gomer Pyle because I was always a great fan of Jim Nabors but I loved both show very much.

  • Sid and Marty Kroft just had an explosion of wonderful trippy shows during this period. They were out of control- in the best way possible!! I'm getting old I remember all these shows. Just think if you had to be abducted by anyone wouldn't Jim Nabors and Ruth Buzzi be among your top choices. Wild zany and wonderful.

  • sid and marty krofft their the same guys who did h.r. pufnstuf, land of the lost and lidsville!!!

  • It's truly was like a "crazy ride", out of time. They've been to the sun, ffs. They friggin know!

Anyway. looking for Private Gomer Pyle singing "Oh Mine PaaPaaaa"

  • Love the days when children's tv was innocent. I miss those days. I grew up with these shows.

  • watched as a kid in the 70's great show ....sid & marty kroft rock!!!!

  • so basically its ok that they abducted those kids? loll

  • If The full size saucer mock up is stored somewhere along with the miniature effects model, then it is possible that the full size capsule from far out space nuts is also tucked away somewhere.....

  • I wonder what happened to the full size saucer mock up?

  • @straker5000 I've always wondered that as well. I wonder what happened to the cool saucer miniature for the special effects also? I think I read Sid & Marty have a warehouse full of all this stuff somewhere. Some of it has been sold at auction but I think they still own the vast majority of it. I loved this show.

  • @outsider497 the lost saucer model is now owened by bob burns, prop collector in burbank, california

  • @rane45lani45 Oh cool! I'm glad it still exists. He has alot of stuff like that. I'd love to see his collection. I just got a model of the saucer from a guy on eBay that makes UFO models. I asked if he could make a Lost Saucer and he did it. It took awhile but it looks great.

  • BTW It's Ruth Buzzy not Rith as named typed by the poster of this clip.

  • LOL I dated 'Jerry" back in the 80s!!!!

  • 80's my ass

  • I had completely forgotten about this show, but when I watched it here it all came back. Wow. Blast from the past.

  • As horrible as this show was, I never missed an episode. Thanks for posting!

  • Those flashing lights on the bottom of the saucer make it look similar to the Jupiter 2.

  • If you freeze at 0:28, that's Reed and Malloy racing to the house!

  • Are there any episodes posted?

  • The flying saucer prop's actually rather good.

  • the kroffts said it was an expensive piece the most they ever spent..

  • This theme song has infested my waking hours for years. YEARS, I tell you!

  • Does any one but me remember the chickaphant episode...?

  • I rememer. The mother rejected it and they had to use nut oil to get the mother back. Great!

  • Wow. I was born in 1970, but sure don't remember this one. Must have ran in the years my family didn't own a TV. I'm just imagining what my 9 year old would think of this.

  • This show could have continued year after year. Jim Nabors didn't want to keep doing it because he wasn't crazy about the scripts. Ruth Buzzi wanted to keep doing it because she had fun with it and because there was a huge audience of kids that loved it. She couldn't convince Jim to keep doing it after 2 seasons, so the show dropped off the screen while it was the highest rated TV show in it's slot, ratings-wise. Now you know the rest of the story.

  • Wow. I use to watch this show all the time. Loved it. Thanks for posting this.

  • Wow, those graphics really really rocked! Not!!!

  • The only "graphics" were the titles. It wasn't easy doing sci-fi TV before CGI

  • Man, even though that show was corny as heck, I loved it. The 70's rocked!

  • I still love it. Always did, always will. Long live the 70's.
