  • wow..Amelia Earhart was gorgeous..

  • Hi!

I really enjoyed this video, especially the range of archive material you included, a lot of which I haven't seen before. I'm currently making a documentary about Amelia Earhart at the moment so I'd really appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction of where you managed to find the archive footage! Thanks :D

  • Hi there, great compilation!

Can you tell me the name of the music you chose to go with it?

    Thanks ;-)

  • awesome video, great job! Earhart is my hero and idol, she inspired my interest in aviation! (just like her, i get sick every stinkin time i go up too lol!) Thank you for this video, I feel that it did her memory justice. I've been searching youtube for a while trying to find video clips to make my own, you already beat me to it! =] haha

again, thanks for the upload!! =]

  • What a great video! I really like the music also. It just seems to fit so well with all the fantastic clips and pictures! This must have been a lot of work, but it was certainly worth it! Wonderful!

  • Great choice ! Love & Rockets !

  • Noo Amelia D:>

  • Congratulations Starrynight for this excelse video and the aproppiate music. She was undoubtedly the kind of woman every man would fall in love - like you and me-

    All best!

  • SN003, thank you for creating what I think is the best YT Earhart vid I have seen. I've a large AE image file but you have some new to me. It's interesting to visit her Vega at the Smithsonian and visualize her standing there or entering the cockpit etc. as some of your (and other) images do. What has kept her memory alive for nearly 73 years, of course, is the mysterious fate of her and Fred Noonan. Had she vanished on a "simple" domestic flight, there'd be a memorial somewhere, period.

  • truly wonderful feeling to be a woman, thankyou Amelia. one of many female heros.God Bless Us All Father.

  • DLUVRL2....I'm glad that you enjoyed this video. Thank you. :)

  • Just as much courage...Sometimes more.

I see we have both been busy this year.

  • Yes, I agree, *sometimes more*.... Amelia's statement was quite bold for the times.....and meant to inspire other women to not limit themselves (a very admirable message). Smile, indeed we have both been busy this year. :)

  • More over-done music soundtrack. Too bad. It overrides the excellent content. This aspect of editing and editing software is the least understood and most mis-used of all software.

  • Hello chuanist, I suppose the music is a matter of taste. I rather like this musical piece even though it was not my first choice. YT removed my first selection. Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed the content. sn

  • After having watched this excellent video over and over again I have to add:

Amelia Earheart did something very rebellious for a woman in the 1930s,but she did it with disarming gentleness and irresistible charm.

  • Your words regarding Amelia's persona and her evident dignity couldn't be more true. Thanks for your wonderful comment, and again I'm so pleased that you are enjoying this video! :)

  • Great!!!Give us more please!;-)

  • Hello my elusive friend, what a lovely surprise to see you! Big grin.....thanks for your sweet comment. I'm delighted to know that you enjoyed this video and even more delighted to see you here on YT! :-]

  • Excellent job!

  • Thank you riley.....I'm so pleased that you enjoyed this video! :)

  • "May I saw one thing... It does not take so much courage to go as it does of interest in the past. I believe that women have as much courage as men."

THANK YOU, Amelia for that quote! :D She's an interesting and inspirational woman. She made me love riding in planes. :) She's a hero! <3

  • Hi EmmyKami, yes Amelia's words are wonderful and inspirational! At that time in history she truly was a trail-blazer for the advancement of women in many ways, particularly for women taking more prominent roles in a field that was almost exclusively male. Amelia was not the first woman in flight....though she certainly is the most memorable, and had the most influence in the advancement of women in this field.

I'm really happy to know that you enjoyed this video. Thank you! :)

  • No problem! I always love to watch Amelia's flights and what she has to say. :)

  • @EmmyKami I think she said "It does not take courage so much to go as it does interest in the task..."

  • Excellent juxtaposition of ideas and feelings. I love this tune from L&R, and it works well with the subject of a pioneer.

  • Thank you very much rbrine01. This video was particularly interesting to make and I agree with you, Saudade by Love & Rockets is a great musical piece. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

  • Where did you find the picture of her looking at the globe at 4:20 ?

  • Hey there FlyinRyans......I don't remember where I came across this photo, possibly on Google images or on Bing images.

  • If it wasn't for her I would have never been inspired to fly. She was very cool.

  • Yes FlyinRyan.......she was an inspiration to many, and on many levels. Glad you enjoyed the video. :)

  • Interesting video of an interesting woman.

No wonder she married "hubby" -- that Lockheed Electra was lovely! It must have cost a small fortune -- and she pranged it up on a runway in Hawaii!

If that had not happened, George Putnam might not have chickened out of navigating, and they might have reached Howland. On the other hand, perhaps three would have died instead of two.

  • Thanks Saph.

Yes, the Lockheed Electra was beautiful. From what I read this plane was custom built for Amelia....Purdue Research Foundation funded $80K, Amelia and *hubby* added another $10K....most definitely a small fortune during The Great Depression of the 1930's.

Yes the runway incident cost another ~$12K in repairs.

  • Starrynight - As much as I enjoy watching your video with the music of Love & Rockets, I love imagining how incredible this video would have been if it were being lifted up by the voice of Linda Perry singing "What's Up" by the group 4 Non-Blondes. I'm sorry that yt couldn't honor your lofty ambitions.....

  • Thanks iris, I was so disappointed when YT disabled *What's Up*, damn WMG/UMG for their greedy practices. Many musical artists give permission for the use of their music, however the big music groups control what can be used regardless of artist consent. This is artistically counterproductive and reeks of music industry greed. One would think the FREE PUBLICITY music videos provide would be an incentive for music companies to allow the use of their musical artists material, obviously not.

  • awesome, and there is a movie coming out soon too

  • Hi bibkitty! Glad you enjoyed this vid. Yes, Hillary Swank plays Amelia in the new film...should be worth a look! Thanks!! :)

  • Thanks for sharing your tribute to Amelia Earhart. Videos about real humans are so much more intriguing & captivating than those based on fiction; perhaps because of their complex lives, full of substance & meaning. I love this music which accompanies the images. I enjoy the contrast of this modern, airy, vibrant rainbow of sounds breathing life into the old, grainy black & white photos so that time & space become blurred. Your creativity has wings & your imagination likes to take flight.

  • iristoiris, as always your intuitive thought filled comment is so greatly appreciated. Indeed Amelia Earhart was a fascinating woman, an early trailblazer in the quest of women in aviation. The film footage from the 1920's/30's is of particular interest to me. It makes one reflect on how far aeronautics has progressed since the time of Amelia, and also makes for a tremendous appreciation of this woman's bravery and her accomplishments in flight during the Golden Age of Aviation. Remarkable!

  • I like the clip of her flying the biplane under the bridge. I'm transported by this music. I'm fascinated by the music at 0:30-0:40, resembling the initial stage of a propeller becoming engaged. This music is the perfect fit for someone whose name is pronounced "Air-Heart", expressing both aspects. This air, or rather this melody, is light & evokes the mysteries of the atmosphere. This music has such heart, such emotional life, revealing Amelia's spirit: her capacity for courage & determination.

  • Yes, the biplane clip is wonderful. *Saudade* is an amazing piece of music. I'm very drawn to the build-ups to the transitions such as at 1:43 & 4:03. I also love the clip of Amelia speaking as she tells us that she "saw the moon and stars most of the night". I try to imagine this from her vantage point, really lovely. iris, I couldn't agree more, "the music has such heart, such emotional life, revealing Amelia's spirit, her capacity for courage & determination". Beautifully said.....

  • Hey starrynight, six always amazing...Thank you for sharing and the usual bow for you.... d. greets youself and good evening:))

  • Hi dnadsy52...as always it's nice to see you.

Thank you for your kind comment. I'm pleased that you enjoyed this video profiling Amelia Earhart. .....Good evening to you as well.....:)
