Some strategy was needed for this mission such as in deciding which cruise missile group to shoot down first. Getting much needed support (offensively and defensively) from Shamrock and the other fighters also helped, too.

that level is probably the easiest in the game...

just use xmaa6's, then get what you can with guns, try to do it in one or two passes at full burner, so the escort planes can't catch you...

It depends on the difficulty that you set and the aircraft that your flying.

If you're flying the A-10A on Ace Difficulty, and you're only using your machine gun, then yes, it will be very, very difficult.
