that is good looking garden well laid out nice raised beds i think i will try to copy 1 for my garden ..thank you for the great ideas ! ..can't wait to see it in summer bloom !..thanks for the post..well done
I am considering raised bed gardening this spring. As I research and plan, I have purchased Mel's "Raised Bed Gardening" book. He recommends a minimum isle width if 2-3 feet. Your isles look to be about 1 foot wide. What are your thoughts on the isle width. Given a chance to redo your overall layout, would you keep the existing width or go wider? Thank you in advance!
even though plantation wat wot rather windy, i enjoyed this allotment xxx very interesting, esp, as i play on face book farm ville and karma farm, brings bk good times waiting for crops to grow! :) when i say this, it keeps me away from real gambling, ie i spent too much oin real potato chips, so saught santuary, in farm gaming, to pass my time away. sad or not so sad, anything to stop, me spending, what should be house n home keeping money, ty for listening xx
i love your garden! i have been planning to build one very similar to it. but you gave me a great idea, have berry vines and grape vines growing all along the boarder i love that idea.
Fantastic garden. Already got lots of ideas that I am going to transfer to my plot. So thank you for that. Any chance you could do a little video showing us how you built those frames for the squashes and what material you used.
Sow peas and beans in pots and transplant into the ground in a few weeks preferably under cover. Onion sets and garlic can be planted to get establisehd over the winter as well. Try winter lettuce and even carrots in big pots.
It is possible, by filling each bottle with water soil and planting them top down. The whole lot would have to be surrounded by a piece of rope and to prevent them bulging out, would have to be in a circle.
Unfortunately a 4 foot diameter bed would need about 50 4 inch diameter bottles, a hell of a lot of pop. An 8x4 bed would require just over a 100.
Happy drinking!
There was a garden in Scarborough where every flower bed in the front garden was edged with inverted gin bottles
apart from bananas ect, you must be almost self sufficient for fruit and veg.i have strawberries, rasberries, onions, beans, tomatoes, grapes, herbs + chickens!
nice patch ,only thing if that is shabby you should come on the site i'm on also in liverpool then you'll see shabby:-),keep up the hard work,p.s....any chance of a cutting off you loganberry bush?

why do you call this an "allotment"? is this a community garden?

In the UK there are 2 standard paving squares, 600mm (2 feet) and 400mm (16 inches)
I decided to use 400mm except for one path down the left which uses the wider one to take the wheelbarrow.
If you have the space, go for 600mm, I do not regret my choice but wider would be better. It is of course more expensive to use 600mm slabs.
Good luck.

Very nice set up. My property is plagued with Bermuda grass so I could never acheive that style of garden.

I have just looked up Bermuda Grass, it sounds wicked stuff. I have a problem with horsetail but I am slowly winning!
