Hi, great work. You might also be interested in having a look at the Active Hands hand grip aids to help hold things with weak hands. Google search "Active Hands" or "gripping aids". They hold fingers in really well to stop them popping out with movement. They are also padded, have Quad/tetra friendly finger loops which stay in position (instead of flopping around) when pushing loops through the D rings and are machine washable. Can be bought online and posted worldwide.
@capnhands This is not a science problem, is an economic problem. Try this, make 10 billionaries quads and watch ourselves next year quicking the wheelchair down a hill.
i know it's lot of work , i'm often with some para and quad , for sport like wheelchair basketball , so i know what you deal with in everyday life ...
Nice video. Thanks for sharing. Would be great if you could share with us on our social network. google "pushrim" you will see "life after injury". Take care :)
You're at a disadvantage when you're laid out - think of how much more control you have when you're upright in your chair. take the same approach when you're in bed - get as vertical as possible by supporting your back with an upright position - then simply move your legs around...MUCH MUCH easier (at least from my experience)...But, hey, bratha', you gotta do what ya gotta do - right?! So bless you no matter if you don't try my methods and I hope the very best for you! Thanks again for posting!
Ok, one more tip...When dressiing, try getting your torso as upright as possible with your legs in front of you and then simply work each leg into each pant hole and rock side-to-side to pull your pants all the way up. Rocking is a lot easier than trying to lift your whole dead weight/body. Just hook your thumb in the belt-loops to pull your pants up further, as you rock each time.
In most cases, it's a lot easier to just move your legs rather your whole torso and legs. I recommend staying in a seated position, with your legs always in front of you and then move you legs AFTER you've moved your torso, NOT BEFORE (i.e. leave your legs in your chair and simply swivel your hips/torso onto your bed, then pull - not push, which is way harder - your legs over.
Hi Chris. Well done, my friend! Thanks for posting your videos and for having the enormous courage to do so. As I watch your videos, I'm amazed at how differently you and I do things. No one taught me anything (I simply figured it all out on my own - probably not unlike you!), but it takes me WAY less time to get dressed and in/out of bed. I think the biggest difference is that I always stay upright when dressing and/or transferring. Meaning, I keep my torso vertical at all times...
Young man that is wonderful. I have lost my legs due to diabetices. But seeing someone do something like you did should give anyone inspiration to try to do for themselves. I still drive and work I am 63 and I just want to say you are a great young man. God Bless and kkep you.
away from my injury but bcos of it i've had a muscle transfere to strenghthen my fingers in Washinghton D.C.
I wasn't able to grab a tissue from its box but after the surgery i can use my hand for writing, eating washing and most of my every day activities, and i drive my car to " i've travelled alone from Riyadh to Damascus " Syria " :) two way in four days .
Damn man. That is so crazy. I used to skydive, haven't in a few years. Doc now.
Have you had any improvement of function? Was the cord transected at all or was it just bruised?
Hopefully with the Obama administration we will be able to make more progress with embryonic stem cells. I am not a neuroscientist so I don't want to speculate, but there are some interesting studies going on with glial cells right now.

you are making too much work for yourself, i`m a quad and i can get fully dressed n outta bed in half that time... and i buy jeans that fit too.... then they don`t fall down!!!!
right on man, that was smooth. im goin to have to check out the long hook you used to keep your pants up at the end for transferring. the pants are still the hardest part for me
Chris Thank you so much for this video. Preparing for my first romantic weekend with my boyfriend and though we've dicussed at length how this all works for him I feel better prepared and am so looking forward to blowing his mind for two days!

Very impressive...however try not to mislead complete quads. You obviously have function below c5. Wrist extension alone is c6.

I have an idea on how we can cure this. Take all the best scientists in the US and make them all quads. Then they'll find 10 different cures.
