Superb they really enjoy this; John Illsley usually backs with the others, Jack etc., not common to hear his voice clearly, his independent work shows a good, blending voice with Mark , the pitch on this is lovely. It is a sort of offset low commentary to the music, giving one time to think through the words. Bob Dylan, Sinéad O'Connor Shane MacGowan, Will Gregory backing Alison Goldfrapp, Duffy thinking, as long as Rainy Day Women in the memory.

Mark is a genius, so genuine and talented (the best guitar hero in my opinion). I saw him in Italy 8 years ago, he spent 2 hours after a concert sharing hands and trying to talk with noisy Italian fans who asked him questions in a very improvised English (I was in that crowd but I couldn't talk... he's my hero since I was 12). Come back to Italy soon.

Many times the instrumental part of music tends to be the stronger part. Mark on the other hand has such ifluential lyrics, truly a God with words (&ofcourse guitar). Hard to decide which is better all in all he is unbeatable!

I cant tell you in words how much i love Mk and Dire straits. The music is like art, he paints pictures with his guitar,takes you there and makes you feel it too. A true legend and musician who can express himself through a guitar. He is easily my number 1 and Making movies is a personal favourite.

I'm a great fan of MK and he only ever uses one pick-up on his Les Paul. Gives him a unique sound with his ancient Vox AC30. A true delight!

Not really true. He has never played Vox AC30 live or in studio, in this particular video he uses a Soldano SLO 100 head, with either a Marshall or a Hughes and Kettner cab. Most of the time he uses one (neck) pickup on the Les Paul, but during his last tour I think he for the most part used both. The way he makes the guitars sing though, is a true delight!

It's most likely Richard Bennett's amp, or it could be Sonny Landreth's amp, he played with Mark on Cannibals and Je Suis Desolè at this particular show. My money is on Richard Bennett, though!
