ive got the exact same woofer, problem though i dont have an amp tht will make it sounds good yet! ive got an sony explod 2ch amp 350 watt max. it sounds alrite on that, but i need 350watt rms at 2 ohms for it to pump hard.
theres more to just hooking up a speaker to make it pound ohms has has alot to do with it the lower the ohms the deeper the bass alot of amps cant handle 2 ohms they cut of so when amp shoping be very specific on what ur looking for
a lot of the mono-block class D amps will do 2 ohm just fine. Some will even do 1 ohm, tho not many subs can handle an ohm. But yes, match the amp to your speakers. If you have a dual voice coil sub that can be wired in 2 ohm, use it, and get an amp that matches the RMS rating in 2 ohm mode. ALWAYS match!
Mono block Class D Alpine amp running 350 RMS watts into 2 ohms, 700 watts maximum into the same impedance. The amp also could be wired in 4 ohm mode, but the sub was a dual voice coil and I had it wired in series. The sub was a perfect match, 350 RMS watts, 700 watts max with 2 ohms using both voice coils.
true dat. right now, i'm dealing with the factory Acura system in which the CD player doesnt even work. I use my mp3 player (read, not iPod cuz they suck) and a cassette adapter with my after market speakers. not nearly the same thing, but its tough having a good sound system in a city. =/
It was sealed. I like the tightness of a sealed box. With subs this size, the extra air allowed in a ported enclosure can make the sub peak annoyingly at certain frequencies. A sealed box keeps the cone more in check. Alas, i no longer have this sub, or any stereo. it was all stolen from my car. jackoffs... *shrugs*
Those subs. are nice I have 2-12" on a ported box with a lanzar 1000x2 in a Saturn 4dr. They hit prety good don't know how much. Now I'm trying to get 6 more for my Caprice with maybe 2 2000w lanzars.
Damn dude that shit SLAPS!! im just now starting a new system becus my old system got jacked but anyway I think U just helped me make up my mine on Sub im getting. ......Thanks
incredibly so. I've yet to actually test to see how loud it gets, but its enough to get the rear wiper rattling, and set off car alarms easily. All i gotta do it play around a 34 hertz tone, and thats it. i listen to a good deal of rock and classic rock on it as well. its incredibly smooth sounding. As for hitting hard, on a bass drum kick, it feels like i'm getting punched in the kidneys.
my amp and sub combo ran about 570 bucks. the sub cost me 170, and the amp was about 250. the custom box cost me another 150. So, its easily doable. The new SPL series from Pioneer are pretty wicked, then again, I love Pioneer car audio.
High Roller by The Crystal Method. Near the end of the song, i have credits as to what the sub is, what amp and cap i use, head iunit and the wiring as well.
hell ya nikka!

Exactly, at 2 ohms these subs are crazy for such a small power requirement.

not as hard as my buddy's old dual 12" JL W2's in a sealed box. but these were also half the price as his (375 a piece, mine was 160)
