  • Good luck! =)

  • @Devistro Thank you so much! :)

  • As for losing weight- I've been doing bodybuilding since 2004 and I've been a personal trainer for about 2 years now. You can be how you want to be if you put in the effort. Take a multi vitamin/eat 1800 calories a day, get at least 180g of protein per day(or at least try), do cardio 3-5x a week for 20-40mins, lift weights 3x a week, and drink about 1-2 gallons of water per day. You'll be in better shape than Dan in less than 4months. Create a fire of interest and keep it burning.

  • @Devistro Thanks for the advice! I'm not sure when I would be able to begin something like this, since this semester has me swamped to the ears, but I will try to work my way into better habits :)

  • I believe humans are empty/blank and that our personalities change based on day to day stimuli rather than being a constant. We're controlled by routine but the routines are set by small glances of insight once in a while. I recommend taking a look at your habits and deciding which you want to keep and which you don't.

  • @Devistro That is a good theory and I agree with much of it. While we are affected by our day to day encounters, however, I believe we have an innate nature, but it is different from person to person. Different natural and programmed responses for each individual. And I agree with the habits. I am currently trying to start eating less and being more physically active.

  • At least that way you'd be practicing something rather than playing pretend and trying to impress. Throughout your video I was bothered as well though. It seems like you've taken on some pseudo-intellectual persona and associated yourself with smoking, being fat, etc. It seems like you're trying too hard to be something you're not. I don't know you but from the video I can't imagine that's really how you talk in your head or act. It doesn't match up.

  • @Devistro You probably do well by being bothered by it. I do consider myself to be an intellectual of sorts. I love conversation and debate and I hold many philosophical opinions. I also enjoy smoking pipe tobacco and cigars occasionally, but not very often. However, while I do have a desire to be intellectual, philosophical, and basically meditative, I also have a very energetic personality and active imagination. I am trying to find the balance.

  • @Devistro And practicing something real is nice and definitely my goal, but in my opinion, sometimes it is good to have our make believe worlds and activities, so long as we keep a firm grasp of reality. Sometimes playing make believe is a great release. I have always quite enjoyed it, but there is also in a way a spiritual aspect to my activities, because I feel a deep spiritual connection to the sword and multiple cultures.

  • @Devistro And as for the attributes I seemed to align myself with, I was mostly repeating back the things Dan said to me and admitting that yes, I have my faults, but I'm ok with that and working on them.

  • I just checked into this Dan Bowen's channel, I agree the guy seems like a dick. He's basically ranting at all the people posting to the vid. I honestly don't understand why a white guy would dress up as a samurai or pretend to be one, it's simply not in his ancestry. If you want to do martial arts- I recommend taking it seriously and taking up BJJ, Muay Thai, or even a show art like Tae Kwon Do would be something more easy to dedicate yourself to. I get dressing up for fun or even taking kendo.

  • @Devistro Dan and I have recently reached a peaceful ground so that's nice. I do not, however, agree with everything he does, though I do support him doing what he loves. And I am a white guy (obviously) though I actually quite enjoy dressing up as a samurai. It seems strange, but I feel a spiritual connection to it, plus I love the blades and the clothing is quite comfortable. Then again, I love all sorts of dressing up, including medieval European themes.

  • @Devistro And as for martial arts, I am hoping to take martial arts someday, but right now I am supremely busy with college. I do, however, still enjoy practicing stuff here and there.
