a lot of dance teachers believe in beginners biting to learn how moves can be incorporated into one another. well.. biting in terms of giving the original credit for hte move. it's just like citing a source. you shouldn't incorporate someone else's move in a choreo, but more as a training tool for yourself on your own time with no camera around to learn for yourself. i've never had a teacher who said to bite for sakes of cyphering or choreo. just to learn the movesets with more.. OOMPH.

waving and other basic moves are a foundation that anyone should have and use - even modeling your style after someone else's is okay, but when you straight up start using their creativity and pass that off as your own, that's when the line gets crossed

look at this way, writing is like dancing. you can have the same writing style as someone, you can use the same literary devices like similies and metaphors, but you can't plagiarize their actual works, not even a full sentence
