  • one of the few bands that actualy sound either on par or better then they do on there recordings

  • He was really blessed with a great voice

  • picture a parachute in a play ground , innocent faces in a circle..... member as a child in gym class big parachute every child holding running in cirlces and hiding under it

  • Is it parish or playground? vote up for parish and down for playground

  • @dreyersg you mean parish or parachute ...

  • @FaintestFusion yes my mistake

  • Billy is so excellent

  • get the video in sync with the lyrics before posting it, im the biggest maynard fan out there but posting a song where the words dont match up is like watch an old animie or bruce lee flick...just sayin.

  • hopeing to make the show july 19th in charlotte NC

  • i love apc as much as anyone but maynards lip singin here

  • @jason27320 the audio and video of this clip do not match up, mjk is not lip synching and I don't think he ever has

  • Is there an album with this version on it?

  • The best song ever about a son murdering his mother . Only Maynard.

  • Keeping me from killing you.......

  • What?? Uploaded by Kube2 on Feb 24, 2007. But yet the description reads Live 2001.

  • It's "picture a parish on a playground." incorrect lyrics posted.

  • This is wonderfully poetic and very descriptive. I can see the scene in my head.

  • very nice performance. love the emotion as it progressed.

  • these songs are like sex beginning, gradual build-up, CLIMAX, satisfaction.

thank you Maynard for the mind f**k. :)

  • @GetofFenris187 Well said Bravo.

  • I llove the solo in this version. If only it was in sync I could get a better idea how to play it.... ah!!!!

  • @Tonicwine999 maybe when you play it you'll leave out the fuckin mistakes.

  • I don't care if it's out of sync. It's great.

  • @tonypata Well I do

  • there's a game we used to play in gym class when i was in elementary school where everyone holds the edges of a parachute and raise it up and lower it while people run underneath to the opposite side. .

  • @hornsofarabbit Odd we had the same game in elementary school. I forget the name of it, but I always managed to get tangled up in the material and yelled at by the teacher.

  • Why has this been dubbed with another a p c gig ? I can't see Maynard of all people miming and it looks too obvious, if he was gonna do it, it wouild look allot more convincing.

  • @zzsharka It's not, the audio is out of sync.

  • how old does it get with people referring to maynard as strange or different? judging by his current projects puscifer and caduceus cellars. its would be hard to argue he must have some wisdom and talent. oh well.

  • i love the wounded singer/songwriters! damn, why do artists have to be so sexy? and effed up at the same time?

  • @DanceSuriya

Just say fucked up you stupid cunt.

  • Well, I wasn't expecting this lol o.o!

  • gotta be my all time fav opening lyric ever

  • Picture a parachute in a playground, Innocent faces in a circle, tiny hands hold round the edges, i fret for every gentle moment, (when you leave0, my heart high upon their heads, on this billowing diaphragm of memories, and i struggle to catch a glimpse of you, but im bound by the webs of habit

  • straight up- a perfect circle is a sick ass band. My fav part of 2:08- 2:28..is soooo strong that i would def pay big bucks to see them live.....kudos to you for getting this recording.

  • wow,

is there like a studio version of this?

cuz the lyrics are different and id love to know what they are

  • Yes there is. The album name is 'Mer de Noms'

  • this is different from mer de noms additional verse at the beginning

  • extended solo, yay!

  • "billowing diaphragm of memories"

    wow this is gold dudes...

    talented man and brilliant MJK!

  • I saw them on the Mer de Noms tour and they really had no choice but to pretty much play the whole album. This album, with a very small select few others, changed my life - transitional high school years. Got to see them twice after that off 13th step too. I took my ex-g/f for her birthday and she got to meet all of them and they all sang happy birthday to her - that had to be f ing surreal!!!

  • Spoof!!!

  • picture a parachute,

    a playground.

    innocent faces in a circle.

tiny hands hold 'round the edges

i fret for every gentle moment.

    (when you leave)

my heart high above their heads

on this billowing diaphragm of memories

and i struggle to catch a glimpse of you

but i'm bound by webs of habit.

  • i love u nichelle

  • @hornsofarabbit wtf are you guys doing..

  • @MissHarmonyMoon i'm sorry?

  • @hornsofarabbit i love apc as much as anyone but maynards lip singin here

  • @jason27320 i figured out the lyrics from an audio file a long time ago, not from a youtube video. i don't get what your point is. He looks like he's 'lip singing' (syncing) but it's only because the video is from a different show, maybe even clips from different songs.

  • a parish in a playground? makes no sense. the parachute game is where kids stand around holding the edge of a parachute and they all raise it up to catch air while some attempt to run through to the opposite side before it is lowered back down onto them. i remember doing it in gym class in elementary school.

  • @jason27320 lol moron... The sound isn't even synced with the video...

  • @hornsofarabbit lame.

  • @hornsofarabbit SHUT UP!!

  • I saw them live on The Thirteenth Step tour, and was devastated they didn't play this, its probably my favourite song of all time. I did get to meet them all (different band members to this vid though) and got some shit signed which was awesome, plus the gig fucking rocked.

  • I hope BIlly and Maynard play some shows again someday. I never got to see them live and I would die for the chance.

  • Amen, me too.

  • The timing is off on the video, watch his actions as the song transitions into the next part at about 1:30. He doesn't react until 1:33, the video is obviously behind. I think he's singing it live :)

  • man i remember this guy and layne staley sang together in a tool concert .... priceless

  • love that alternate opening verse.

  • same here if anyone has an mp3 of this let me know.

  • priceless

  • this is such a good medication song. peaceful, perfect- circle.

  • comparing anyone from the band tool to any other musician will get you the death penalty in my state. especially american idol, should fry your ass.

  • Maynard James is so yummmy (:

  • you really think so?

    i know hes a genious.

but not the prettiest of men

    in my opinion.

but i suppose id be better leaving that

up to the females and the homosexuals to decide.

  • Of course he's not the prettiest of all men. He's good looking. But not the prettiest.

  • maynard is the shit live

  • this song is perfectly beautiful no matter how you look at it

  • Well put.

  • :14 to :50 is stunningly beautiful.

  • 0:00 to 5:45 is stunningly beautiful.

    =]

  • nice one!

  • yeah thats my favorite part

  • I am sooo happy I got to see these guys.. The best thing about it was that it was in Peoria, IL , at the civic center, but they had a game goin on so it was in a small little side hall/ banquet room thing.. So intamate, and amazing. I was looking for videos from the show, but I doubt I'm going to find any.

  • this song is very close to eternal.

  • que bestia maynard ! eres el mejor bocalista del mundo

  • si es de lo mejor!! pero es vocalista!!! no bocalista

  • diosssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • God, soooooooooooo intense!!!

    best song ever

  • best song ever

  • Howerdelle looks like an alien but he plays some sick guitar

  • He would''ve been perfect for the Spiders from Mars

  • wooo yeahh

  • nice version

  • (L)

  • some1 should tell me what the lyrics are for the first part thats different...and APC and Tool are good but tool is and will be my favorite band 4ever

  • Picture a parish in a playground

    Innocent faces in a circle

Tiny hands hold round the edges

A fret for every gentle moment

My heart high above their heads

On a billowing diaphram of memories

And i struggle to catch a glimpse of you

But i'm bound by webs of habit

  • @Backyardrastlexx well parish makes no sense , as a kid in gym or on a playground we would us a very large "parachute" run in cirlces with our tiny hand holding the edges .. just what i get from it

  • i love that song!

  • I love Thirteenth Step..

  • I think their first album is by far, the best, most uplifting A perfect circle ever!... Im a TOOL fan, and trust me, the other albums where cool, dark, vibrant, but not as the classic one Mer De Noms... They own that fucking masterpiece! And it was a gift.

  • billys solo is awesome! the whole song is

  • false. the only thing maynard or billy howerdel (the bald guy) ever said about apc is that it is finished for the moment. I've heard rumors lately about howederl and mjk working on new material; whether that is for apc or not I don't know. But as far as anyone knows, APC won't have a next album with or without maynard or with Billy as the singer cause they went hiatus.

  • I'm so grateful to have seen them live.

  • I've only seen Tool once and would like to see them again. I've been into Tool since 92. My old Dead head friends don't under stand at all. They don't know what thier missing.

  • indeed, thats the beauty of Maynard lyrics, i had something totally different in mind when hearing this song

  • Very insightful deep perspective tourniquet, heard this song a million times and never thought of it that way, nice

  • Damn, the audio and the video are terribly off.

  • I know, you're right.

Still, haha, the vocals on the reprise at the end are so awesome. Maynard's voice is awesome.

  • loved what you said there.

I saw it like in a totally different way.

  • wonderful

  • I love the alternate lyrics!!

This is probably my favourite apc song, and I feel like he improved on it with the new lyric.

  • this tune is owesome !!!!!

  • Very sexah version.

  • The guitar solo sounds reminiscient of The Cure..VERY well done

  • Totally

  • Yeah, Maynard likes The Cure

  • wow! thanks billy!

  • they are even better live

  • what a lucky bastard is that who has been on an APC concert...

  • you cant do it now... thats why

  • good point.. i agree with that

  • i cant buy a ticket... dont have money.. dont have the band.. i live in a country they will never come.. so.. i have lucky? can i go to the show¿? can i buy the ticket and go there like u say? no

  • only a little part of their fans are even able to go to their concerts. so ur not alone at ALL

  • Even in live,they still sound badass,calm,awesome.

  • i love the beginning. makes the original sound boring.

  • Love the added verse. Very inventive.

  • Damn these guys are good...

too bad they fell apart though...

  • that was 2 weeks ago

  • that was awesome! LOVE what these guys do!

  • i know it will sound silly, but this song took my soul by the hand and brought her home for a second...

  • thats one way to explain that headrush u get when the song peaks

  • lol first i'm like WHAT MAYNARD IS LIP SYNCING??? it's the audio thats out of sync haha.

  • same here lol

  • i don't get the lyrics in the beginning...

  • Picture a (parish/carriage?) in a playground --

    Innocent faces in a circle

Tiny hands held round the edges

A fret for every gentle moment

My heart high above their heads

On a billowing diaphragm of memories

And I struggle to catch a glimpse of you

But I'm bound by webs of habit...

  • it sounds like he might be singing "picture a merry go round in a playground" which would be more logical than parish or carriage, what does everyone think?

  • i don't think so, not enough syllables in his words to carry it out.

  • I have been listening to this song alot cause it's my favorite APC song and I am 99% sure you are right and it's parish in a playground

  • picture a parish in a playground

    innocent faces in a circle

tiny hands hold round the edges

a fret for every gentle moment

my heart high above their heads on this

billowing diaphram of memories and i

struggle to catcha glimpse of you but im

bound by webs of habit... i would believe

  • the audio and video are not synchronised! :\

  • everybody talk about maynard but what happened with troy van l... hey man he is a master in the guitar in the keyboard, bass and other instrumentsif you dont believe heard judith and queens of ......

  • I've been out of the loop for a while, but since when has Troy played keyboard or bass? Agreed, though, that he's an awesome guitarist (and a very underrated one at that.)

  • hey my friend, watch avon and read wikipedia

  • I don't know what you are talking about there wont be anything with Billy and Maynard for at least five years, Tool is working on a new album and Ashes Divide was touring with STP the last I checked

  • both bands have maynard. so by default, they both rank in the top echelon of bands. ever.

  • heyyyy what about Puscifer? lmao! if you go smoke a fat blunt trust me you'll see every one of Maynard's bands in a different light... Korn's old stuff is pretty good, Slipknot's alright, I'm more of a Tool/Lamb of God/Queens of the Stone age guy myself :D-~~ which explains the weed

  • go listen to korn and slipknot if you want to say one band is better than another. apc and tool are very different. so why compare them?

  • I think some people say APC is better than Tool becuase they showcase maynards voice more than Tool, but if you compare the two bands as a whole..TOOL takes the cake.Althoygh billy is a beast on guitar, its pretty close between him and Jones

  • listen to Tools earlier stuff if you wanna hear maynards voice at what a lot of people think is his best. TOOL+APC= one groin grabbingly good combination. ps.orestes best song on mer :D

  • I think of them mostly as two diffent animals. I personally find it a bit hard to compare them because they're so different.

  • a perfect circle is better than tool, tool is better than a perfect circle, who really gives a shit, I mean I'm sure everyone could pick and choose the aspects of both bands that they like better than the other, just enjoy the music and be thankful we have both..

  • Agree.

  • Sorry didn't mean to give you a thunbs down.

  • version with synched audio -> watch?v=2o6zxE5HHcs

  • nope!

  • all tool did was find a cool little thing of their own and pound it into the ground. APC is very diverse. much more introspective

  • theres no way apc is better than TOOL!!!

  • APC is better in the respect of it's more "dreamy" quality in the music, where as Tool is better for agression and intensity but I can listen to APC, close my eyes and go on a sonic journey that Tool can't take me on.

  • no true, i dont agree with you, but tool is more accessible i think, for example, i could whip out right and two from tool and listen to it and be like, woah, but for APC i would have to listen to an entire album, cuz it is all connected to precisely its like a must, just my veiw, but tool concerts ARE MUCH MORE SONIC JOURNEY ITS KINDA A JOKE!

  • Opinion is opinion. It's all good man.

  • yes it is, amen to that!and they r both amazing bands so y do people argue

  • Picture a parish in a playground --

    Innocent faces in a circle

Tiny hands held round the edges

A fret for every gentle moment

My heart high above their heads

On a billowing diaphragm of memories

And I struggle to catch a glimpse of you

But I'm bound by webs of habit...

  • I'm sorry but I really think these lyrics are a case of misheard lyrics! Even thought they are posted on the net as "alternative" Orestes lyrics.

This about it...even the first sentence would make more sense if it was "picture a carraige in a playground".

    Isn't the reference to children?

  • Also if they are at a playground in a circle (

he's probably dinging " A FRIEND for every gentle moment"

  • its parish in a playground. have you no ears???? ibexr88 is spot on

  • nice.

ibexr88 is just recycling what everyone else has typed in.

god forbid someone listen and think for themselves.

  • P.S. Since you insist that it's "parish in a playground", I find myself amazed at the juxtaposition of Maynard's lyrics...it's not easy to contemplate churchgoers in a playground as related to the Orestes myth, with all it's accompanying Greek mythology.

  • i kinda agree ginamari, if you consider the mythology, carriage as in baby would make a lot more sense.

  • The video and sound aren't in sync. Its annoying.

  • maynard IS hot.

    and so is his voice.

  • Awesome. Love this song. Maynard looks hot :D
