  • thats so cool you don't have to change the way you're holding the cue! i'm trying that tonight

  • indeed filipinos dominate the world of billiards

  • nice try, very creative :)

  • i'm gonna mess up on position intentionally tonight just to try this....

  • That was a cool technique, i must try that.

  • floyd mayweather might accuse him of using steroid when he sees this video

  • That's extremely intuitive

  • I love the game but there is hardly any money in it!

  • @hearts76100 really? just this month shane vanboening has made well over 50k just gambling, and hes over 70k in tournament winnings so far this year...soooo ya there is NO money in it is there?

  • if he would have been play earl strickland are would have stomped his ass for that shit

  • @THEBLACKADAM1 lol are you fcking serious? did you not watch the shane vanboening earl strickland TAR match? fcking earl played with a 70 inch long pool cue weighing 35 ounces, used a fcking magnifying glass to check racks, wore like 10 pounds of work out weights and had a whole bag full of stupid shit....i honestly think earl would approve of this method

  • wow, this is genius! haha. i think the bridge and I are gonna be best friends from now on. :)

  • I have never seen it used like that before. I think I will give it a try.

  • very original i like it

  • I've had to play a masse shot, but I was really stretching so I learned how to masse with the bridge.

  • Some of the most stupid fucking commentary ever presented in sports, ever.

What kind of racist stereotyping bullshit is this??

  • I use the bridge to scratch my back

  • That's smart, it allows for a more natural stroke for the cue ball.

  • @SirNoobs

This is true and I have started using the bridge in a similar way, except that I'll hold it flat on the table as normal, but I prefer to use the more natural stroke than the so-called orthodox version because it's much easier and more comfortable and natural for controlling the cueball B-)

  • thats good. am gonna do that tmrw

  • @TeenyTiny945

oh really ? we used to call him ronnie.. thanks for this info. :)

  • That seems more stable than just holding it with one hand lol hmmmm he's onto something.

  • his name is ronnie alcano & he's my idol

  • It's cool cus he retains an ordinary stance

  • ronnie is one of the best players in pool i think.

  • looks cool i think i will try it toxD

  • I had seen this awhile ago, and practiced it. Its actuly not hard to do and get your shots on target. if your like me and don't like using the bridge i would say practice this.

  • amazing

  • "thats one thing the philipino players do better they shoot behind their back"

    lmao

  • lol nice shot

  • Seen that once before in a pool hall in Minneapolis. A couple of people turned around to see the shot and the guy missed. Didn't think anything of it at the time.

  • lupet ng training ni alcano..namamartida yan gamit tiririt..ouch!

  • i had seen filipino played with just one hand and drunk having some gulp in every seat he had. actually im the one who played and beaten by the guy about a couple of bucks!!!!

  • I like the Idea of playing with a bridge during a whole game, that sounds like the best way I've ever heard of to master the concept of using the bridge. People are sure in denial of what they don't understand.

  • @ davis4311 amen to you bro.. they just can't understand

  • "yoga shot"lol.

flexible na mahaba pa ang galamay edi ayos! ahaha.

  • Does anyone Know when this years world pool championship is.

Peach for me winning it was great because I am English but for a spectator it must have been bit boring,I am one of them pool players who takes my game seriously and got a lot of respect for pool coming from a snooker background but I love that little bit more flexibility you can use in pool and the difference in positioning and the way you can do shots in your mind that you wouild never dream of doing in snooker.

  • alright alright i got your point... but all im saying is if you would stay a lot more here in the philippines you will see a lot of akward and impossible silly things being done on pool.. most of them are really unnecessary.. but still some of it works

  • Thats true if I stayed in phils more I been twice b4 and will probaably go again sometime but who knows as its not cheap coming over to Phil.

Using the Cue rest is mainly a SNOOKER thing also a lot of these POOL players are good but when it comes to safety play they LACK a lot and its very important especially at HIGH level of pool if anything thats how Daryl Peach WON the world Championship using Safety Play.

  • @IaninAngeles obviously u dont see efren reyes play safetys..actually alcano won this this tournament by playing safety u should watch the last rack with him and souquet.filipino players r one of the best safety players in the world especially when it comes to kick safety.

  • no matter how you criticize him you cannot become half as much player as him.. pool is his life.. he skip schooling because of poverty and make a living out of pool just like efren and the other Filipino playes

  • You need more than just skill to be a top pool player.

For example when Daryl Peach beat Roberto Gomez,if they were palying at a pool club in Philippines Gomez would have had Peach comfortably but here in Major pool tournaments its a different Ball game because Pool aint as easy as it looks on TV if you want win in 1 visit and also beat your opponent in Match.

  • and what are you trying to imply, .. i was just saying that they should not criticize this alcano guy because of the way he used the bridge... i did not said anything about who the top pool player is or how to be a top pool player, all i am saying is i'm used to see pool players good or bad use the bridge like that when giving handicaps on players weaker than them,,,, the handicap is called "playing the whole game with a bridge"

  • Thats obviously a lot of nonsense" Playing the whole game with a bridge"because you can just leave the ball on cushion then you cant use the bridge its impossible.

I have been Pool halls in philippines never seen that happen and played the best for drinks and the minimum bet won 100% time they were not Hustling for larger money I know shit players when i see them.

Having been a pro snooker player with a high break of 143.

  • they play the whole time using a bridge or even without using any bridge not even their hand.. in tagalog "namamartida ng walang plangketa o may tiririt buong laro" i wrote this in tgalog so that some of the filipinos reading here will post that it is really possible and it's happening here in the philippines... they play like that as a handicap to players half their skill.. i believe alcano could give you 40 -80 handicap in rotation and even play the whole game w/ a bridge and still beat you

  • I know Ronnie Alcono would beat me at pool he would even beat a Top Snooker player at pool ie Jimmy White Steve Davis Tony Drago who all play pool but are always beaten by the top pool players.

The two games are complately different and what might be considered an easy shot in snooker is hard in pool.

  • What I was trying to say is as a top snooker Player anbd a newbie to Pool at least in snooker you have to respect the Table and Rules.

Thats why this is a great shot as he had an excuse to let the tension out while still playing the game to the rules.

A great player waits for his oppurtunity.

  • you are indeed stupid.. you ain't a filipino... try staying about 30 yrs here... then you'll see dumbass... you see how alcano used the bridge?? that's the way you have to use it when the ball is in the cushion... you visit me here... here's my adress 210 esguerra street caloocan city... then i will show you 3 of my neighbors here who are not really a good player not even a class d player but can play pool the whole time using a bridge or can play the pool the whole time without any bridge at al

  • It just seems strange people playing with rest as all you have to do is lerave the cue ball on the cushion and with a rest its impossible to hit the Object ball.

The only way is to Hold the rest almost straight up in the air or play the shot like you were snookered and hit the cushion first.

The first is alomost impossible if the Object ball is other end of Table and you wont get power or see the shot.

Maybe 8 ball they playb this sport.

But not 9 ball and this is a 9 ball video.

  • isnt tha tstupid? im half flip..actually kinda grew up there untill the age of 9 anyways, im 13 nao and being there for 9 years tells me alot about storms...(lol i know this has nothing to d owith pool but still.)anyways, again, forget about all what i said.l0l

  • that ain't stupid.. that's how hustlers trap average players for money.. they offer ridiculous handicaps so that it will be so hard for you to resist... and at the end, you'll end up losing all your money.. you could read some of the comments below, and i believe these are mostly filipinos who stayed in pool halls for a long time.. it's almost a usual scenario in any billiard halls here that there are some hustlers playing without any bridge or using that wooden bridge the whole game..

  • and all of you out there saying my comments are stupid, search this video and watch it : "One handed pool run out by Jesse" this guy is not even a filipino, HE IS NOT EVEN A PRO but he can run out without any bridge, this is just an amateur, low class player compared to some hustlers here who can even break hard without using any bridge at all

  • didnt yo uread my cxooment? i said forget it it had nothing to do w/ pool.BTW the thing you guys r arguing about.not all filipinos r good at pool.i am good,,but im half i have a romanian frend dats good ,iraqian frend dats good. any raace could be fucking good in pool so u guys just STFU cuz it makes no sense.

  • ur good at pool? wow u should go pro!

  • what cuz im half flip? eet s0me lego...sandwich...soup...w/ fried chicken...w/ ketchup...w/ BBQ sauce...ok i hungry nao

  • wut r u? american? spelling nerd go fuck a cow up the ass.better yet,let the cow fuck u up the ass.

  • Man, you children are so boring.....

  • then y u talking to one?you must have no life to do boring shit.

  • don't diss or criticize alcano because before becoming a professional player he used to be a hustler standing around in pool halls in any corner of the Philippines and giving handicaps playing the whole game using back strokes or using the bridge throughout the game, or even playing the whole game not using any bridge at all, not even his left hand, only using his right hand, one handedly shooting and pocketing balls

  • almost all of the Filipino pool hustlers who makes a living out of money pool games, gives handicap to those weaker players playing like that.. its normal to see that kind of shot in any pool hall in the Philippines, they actually play the whole game with a bridge as a handicap for those weaker players, so its no big deal for alcano or any pool hustlers in any corner of the Philippines

  • funny shit I mite try that just 2 see how people look at me at my next tourney

  • what a joker........

  • Holy smoke!!!!

    5/5

  • Grerat shot what improvisation that kind of shot wouldnt have been easy using the cue rest the normal way as normally you will hit the ball harder but he stroked it in perfect.

  • he could of reached it with his hand, fucking faggot

  • are you fucking kiddin me? maybe to hit it, not to screw it back...faggot

  • @vafangulu3x its called handicap..a lot of filipinos do it for weaker players. kind of show-boating

  • behind the back bridge isnt hard, but he must be good to play in tht tournament lol

  • yeah he won this tournament

  • Obviously Opie doesn't know any better, or maybe he has freakishly long arms or something. My bet is that he is just a poor excuse for a poolplayer and has attention needs. Of course you should use a bridge if it makes the shot easier.

  • Opie, are you kidding? The bridge is an important tool in the game of billiards. Would you say that one might need to use a bridge if they played snooker?

  • the bridge is very important.. Ask my favorite player Bustamante. He lost the 07 WPC because he refused to use the bridge

  • a snooker table talbles 12 fett long i think if dont have to use a bridge you must be like 9 feet tall

  • Hmm, I may try the bridge like that one time!

  • wtf- he didnt even need to use the bridge... he had a perfect shot behind his back. and why even use a bridge? if you cant figure out how to take a shot without it, you might as well just give up on pool.

  • "if you cant figure out how to take a shot without it, you might as well just give up on pool."

i guess the same goes for snooker, eh ?

  • yep- same diffence

  • Comment removed

  • This is laughable. Plenty of champions use the bridge when it's called for, but according to you they should just give up pool.

  • the bridge is NEVER called for... any shot you can take w/ the bridge can be taken w/o it.... and if you can't figure a way to take the shot w/o the bridge, you might as well not even play pool.

  • Yeah, what does Alcano know, he's only a World Champion. I'm sure you play much better.

  • LMAO, "in ways" that are worth what? Did you fail to notice that he made the shot and got shape? What is your rare ability worth? Are you gonna give weight to a former World Nine-Ball Champ just cause, unlike him, you don't need to use the rake? What's it worth, the eight, the breaks, a game on the wire? LOL!

  • Doesn't change the fact that he is a better player than you.

  • titty residue

  • this is how the wheel was discovered

  • nice idea actually

  • interesting.

  • No. It's incredibly unsteady. For some reason even top pool players put absolutely no time into learning how to use the rest properly.

  • really cool. the bridge becomes a natural extension of his arm.

  • ohyeah it works too. it becomes easier cause you can better see the balls in the closest way.

  • Interesting varient, but I still think he could have used a slightly modified hand bridge and I DON'T mean the one behind his back! You have to admit, the Filipinos are great innovators when it comes to pool/billiards.

  • thank you

  • Notice that he used the bridge like that so that he could GET AS LOW AS POSSIBLE to the table so that he could have a better look of the balls. And as you can see, this is the closest way of mimicing a normal shot while using the bridge. It will minimize miscueing.

  • الله يرجك الكانو

  • Notice the way he holds his cue while using the bridge differently, he wanted a firm hit on the 5 ball. If you use the normal style of the bridge, you will be holding your cue differently.Which is the 3 finger hold on the butt of your cue. This situation, the 5 is hard to shoot firmly coz there is a tendency that you could miscue. And thats the reason I think why he used that bridge differently. Its not just for a show.

  • ha ha

  • WOW! Never seen that before! I'm ENLIGHTENED!

  • He could have just played it left handed.

  • Ahahaha...that made me laugh.

  • Good idea if balls are in the way, but I think he could have done it the standard way with bridge stick held firm on table off to the side of the balls. Still, I like it!

  • I like that. I'm going to play like that now.

  • Wow ang galing ah! Gracias por compartir este video.

    Hmm..masubukan nga.

  • that's great Ronnie!

  • very creative

  • iam going to try that, cool thanks 4 upload
