  • Even though this looks like a caterpillar of a moth or butterfly species, it is in fact a larva of a sawfly . Sorry but I don't know which species.

  • @brianlaney I think you must know for sure. I'll have to do some research....

    I saw from the wikipedia article for Sawfly that you are right. Caterpillars have 5 pairs of prolegs or less. This one has more than 5 pairs. But it's so big!! That's really surprising.
