What's the difference between the TI-NSpire with touchpad and the TI NSpire CAS with touchpad???? I'm a high school student and I heard that the CAS cannot be used in some tests, but which one do you recommend????
@Andy87GDR The CAS is a computer alegbra system. look on ti website they have a list of what exams it can be used on but i recommend waiting i bought mine like 2 days ago then found out the CX and CX Cas is coming out it has twice the memory, lcd 320X240 color backlit screen, and that is about it. i think it also has wifi and they said it should only cost 20 bucks more asethically it just doesn't have the bumps that are on the side it looks like a rectangle i guess you can say.
Yes it can calculate the answer. The only part of that mathematical expression that could cause a calculator trouble is the very high exponents. The Nspire can handle values raised to as high as the 999th power.
I'm not sure what is allowed in "IB School." However, this calculator is allowed on the ACT and in most high schools. I would talk to someone from your math department to find out.
@RISINGTENSION If I am not mistaken, the Ti-Nspire CAS is not allowed in the IB exams BUT the REGULAR Ti-Nspire (without CAS) IS allowed on the IB exam. You can find a chart on their website that outlines the exceptances of these calculators.
@RISINGTENSION i dont know if this is still relevent, but the ti nspire is said to be able to be used at the psat, sat, ap, and ib tests 'cause it lacks the qwerty keyboard

@RISINGTENSION Don't get the TI-NSpire CAS, it's not allowed in some tests, I'm going to buy the TI-NSpire (Not CAS) because it's allowed in my school, look at the Texas Instruments website, they have the exam acceptance list
@deyomash CAS is commonly banned because of it's ability to solve equations with variables in them. If your school does not allow CAS calculators, you should get the NON CAS version.
@deyomash Get the CASIO fx-115ES, It can solve equations, Min-Max..Matrices, and a lot more that a graphing caclulator can do, exept graph. So it looks like a simple scientific calculator that has solved a lot of problems for me on tests.
This calculator had very much been released by the date of this video's upload. I got my TI-nspire CAS in the fall of 2007. I ordered it offline from an educational products website. I have no connections, I'm just an average person in an average family.
The only differences between the normal and the CAS is the software. Does anyone know if it is possible to install the CAS software on the regular one?
I am also using this in a statistics class right now. I feel the exact opposite way, it works wonderfully for me! It blows the 84 out of the water with respect to statistical abilities, and graphical quality. if you have any questions just ask, or google your quesiton. I know there are a lot of great N-Spire help-sites out there.
There's a version that has a Ti-84 keypad with it and you can swap out the keypads so it's technically both. That way when you get specific instructions as Ti-84 keypresses you won't get lost.
get the nspire but not the cas one because the the cas doesnt come with the ti-84 thing for it and most statistics books and other high math book have tutorials on how to use the calculator
so only this one can solve algebraic formulas, not the blue one? btw, does this also have a removable keypad like the non-cas one? can u also play games on this?
i've done some reseach on this calculator and this one doesn't have a removable keypad and they dont have any games out for this one. And what sucks about it is that you cant use it on some test . .
I have search all google vids and youtube an have dont found, yet.. any video guide on how to use the TI-Nspire, not the TI-Nspire CAS, just the TI-NSPIRE HANDHELD
I nid to know how to solve inequations with the calculator so it can give me the values.. an other staff
Also I try the square formula in mine "nsolve(a*x2+b*x+c=0,x)" and it says error: variable not assign, it suck that the TI-Nspire handheld has some important change from the TI-Nspire CAS that i realy dont like...
my teacher is obsessed with this, he has a shirt tha t says ti-nspire certified instructor, and thas all he talks about in math class, we never learn anything, yea well u can also do this with the ti-nspire
You can if you pop in the 84 keypad. I regret my purchase and I've just been using the ti-84 keypad, it's virtually the same as the 84, just a little slower because of the emulation.

if i get the inspire without CAS will it not be able to do anything my ti-84 can do? cuz ive heard some people say it says it has an error that says you need CAS for some features. i just want to know if it wont allow you to do any calculations that my ti 84 plus se can do
The cas just has some extra features in algerba, but those are used mainly in college. The nspire [wihout cas] is aimed at high school becouse it is allowed on many exams. Besided nspire [no cas] comes with a TI-84 plus keypad which emulates the actual calculator. I now have both the non-cas and cas, and the cas has helped me greatly in my AP calculus class
Hi. I'm doing CAPE Maths (a bit more intense thatn GCE), and I was just wondering, does this calculator live up to all the hype? Seems nice, but that doesn't mean anything. Also, which is better, this or the HP 50g?
Nice calculator, especially with the CAS. Around here (Texas), TI offers big discounts if you buy your calculator through the school. A new TI84 Silver Edition which the school district recommends and uses in teaching can be purchased new for $39. I will look into TInspire to see if it offers anything I need but don't have in my TI 89 Titanium. So far, they look very similar. GraphFunc and Maxima's CAS (free computer downloads) are good too and faster than calculators. dkw
please, anybody who is using TI-Nspire can provide me with both, The serial number and activation number. I want to use it for my studies in Mathematics at the University.
Thank you for responding me, I believe you, that some of the products you cannot activate them twice or using serials more than the limit. But I have an advise for you, is to contact the retailer to provide with new one as long as you keep the old one, and will tell to use it as much as you can as you keeping the serials or activation code in your custody.
Could you please be kind and send me the serial number and license number of this software so I can activate it on my PC. Cause I am student in Mathematics and like to use this wonderful thing and I can't offer one, only downloading the software from original website.
I'd love to. But the numbers can only be used once. I stupidly installed the software on an older computer first and now I cannot install it on the PC that I would prefer.
hmmm. that is odd. i got it last year when it was only available to teachers and i let my friends use it for the act and nothing was said about it. i guess they have caught up now...
Also, you have no idea of the capabilities of the drag function on graphs. You can drag to change the slope, zoom in or out, move the actual line, change the scale, all without going to window options. Also, you can simply hold down the click to grab. Finally, if you hit control G, the f(x)= thing at the bottom goes away (hit it again to get it back. Plus hundreds of other awesome things.... It's fucking amazing. AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And no. The TI-Nspire has a different programming language than the other calculators, so Mirage OS or any game programs won't work. Texas Instruments hasn't released the programming language yet, so no one can make programs besides them yet... could be a while. I'm content, however, to just sit and mess around with all its other amazing features until then!
hey i was juz wondering would you rather buy this calc or the casio classpad 330??? that one has touch screen but i dont know if this one has more stuff or something plz reply
The blue one (TI Nspire) is the alternative for TI 84, and normally priced slightly higher. This one has CAS, and could therefore be compared to TI 89 Titanium. Note that it cannot 3D Graph, but has various functions to make up for that loss in ability. Overall, it is priced slightly higher than Ti 89 Titanium.
its size is actually pretty nice, its slightly taller than teh 84 but the thickness is roughly the same. it definitely has the 89 titanium beat for graphics and everything else
I've learned that there is a OS update that includes programming support, including a Program Editor. Is that something that you can confirm, or even better do a video regarding?
hey, sorry man I forgot to update you, I ran into some troubles installing the CD that came with the calculator, and I haven't tried to again since. I can ask my friend on Monday who knows a lot more about it.
The regular TI-Nspire does come with the interchangable TI-83/84 keyboard and it is blue in color, however this model the TI-Nspire CAS with Computer Algebra System which is grey in color does not have that capability.
Oh. thanks for the info! I am glad you told me that, because i was getting rady to buy this one, but i also need it for Algebra 1, so my teacher said that i would need the TI-84 keypad, so it looks like the regular TI-nspire for me!!!

yes it is! its saves so much time

What's the difference between this and the blue (Math and Science) Version?
Comparison to ti-89 titanium?
therock005 3 years ago
the BLUE one is a regular nspire
sin(45°)=.707106781187
like BLUE ti-73
the GRAY nspire has CAS
sin(45°)=sqrt(2)/2
like GRAY ti-89 titanium
all about $150
supportthe85 3 years ago
The blue one (TI Nspire) is the alternative for TI 84, and normally priced slightly higher. This one has CAS, and could therefore be compared to TI 89 Titanium. Note that it cannot 3D Graph, but has various functions to make up for that loss in ability. Overall, it is priced slightly higher than Ti 89 Titanium.

Any idea to put games on them?

Hey man
ive bneen looking for info on the dimensions but i guess noboy cares about the size or anything but how tall wide and thick is it
and do you think its easy to use
or do you or anybody else think this calculator is betterforphysics rather than the ti-89 titanium or hp 50g?
cooperaerosmith 3 years ago
its size is actually pretty nice, its slightly taller than teh 84 but the thickness is roughly the same. it definitely has the 89 titanium beat for graphics and everything else

I've learned that there is a OS update that includes programming support, including a Program Editor. Is that something that you can confirm, or even better do a video regarding?
n3Mo1 3 years ago
I'm installing my CAS software as we speak. After I do this I will check and see if there is an update.
Staltercj 3 years ago
Hi, how did the update go?
n3Mo1 3 years ago
hey, sorry man I forgot to update you, I ran into some troubles installing the CD that came with the calculator, and I haven't tried to again since. I can ask my friend on Monday who knows a lot more about it.

does it come with the TI-84 keypad?
treymason 3 years ago
The regular TI-Nspire does come with the interchangable TI-83/84 keyboard and it is blue in color, however this model the TI-Nspire CAS with Computer Algebra System which is grey in color does not have that capability.
smartcar13 3 years ago
Oh. thanks for the info! I am glad you told me that, because i was getting rady to buy this one, but i also need it for Algebra 1, so my teacher said that i would need the TI-84 keypad, so it looks like the regular TI-nspire for me!!!
thx smartcar13!!!

it depends what the hell you want to do with it
t0myuri 2 years ago
I am thinking of buying the ti-Nspire CAS or ti-89 titanium, have you used both, if so which do you recommend?
smartcar13 3 years ago
The 89 is really just an upgraded 84 in my opinion. I would DEFINITELY get the Nspire instead.
Staltercj 3 years ago
I went ahead and got the Nspire CAS, it is awesome, thanks for the input.
smartcar13 3 years ago
that is awesome!
i have a ti-84SE
i really want the new nspire
i'm just wondering, what are you using it for?
geometry class? algebra2? for fun?
tjrana0 3 years ago
A combination of fun, college algebra, and chemistry.
If any of you have information on games it i was appreciate it greatly!
