not really, it was taken from the work that muybridge did on the study of movement. He used cats (of which this is), horses, dogs, people, pretty much every living creature and captured all extremes of movement. all that happened here was the artist looked at muybridge's work, studied the skeleton of the cat and then prep'd some stencils before he/she went out and voila.
