I love the whole of this album but it's this track that makes it special for me.First time when I heard it, it gave me goosebumps and it still does whenever I put it on.There were tons of instrumental house in very much similar style to this but nothing came close to Larry's work,except for my another favorite artist of mine Rheji Burrel with his NewYorkHousin' stuff.
This is DEEP. I can feel it. When I listen to music I don't consider or think whether this fits into this category or that, or whether this is deep or not, they're just concepts and made-up, got nothing to do with THIS music.
i guess your'e right usually when i hear so called "deep house" it sounds way more like disco/soul/r&b, thats the original most earliest classic deep house style. I still call this deep house cause of the synths (more of a synth pop/new wave influence i guess) that are present, i think the definition of "deep house" has changed to describe a more smooth synth laden sound of house over the years, you hear any contemporary deep house it sounds more like this track. am i wrong?
This can also fall into the category of jazz house or maybe an easy listening groove because even though it has a club beat its also something thats smoove and mellow to the ears,very typical thing of Robert Owens to blend in a jazz style with house music,missing the old sound of house,now it has resorted to drag queen work it girl music.
still to me this sounds this track sounds more like 80s R&b and 80s synth pop/new wave mixed together, but that bass sure is be-boping away similar to jazz. ultimately in the end we all know the categories and names we give to genres are always ambiguous at best, you can even say pointless. but discussing related art forms and comparing with words is still something i like to do anyway
