  • 2:40 - 2:55?! Where did that come from?? Honestly, what a musical genius.

  • Cole Porter was a true musical master. His music is timeless.

  • holy s*** how do I know that song?

  • Sounds like Hal Linden singing

  • Our school did this musical this year, and this was my favorite song. :)

  • the song seemed rushed

  • @chewkamatic idiot

  • I wonder if the people of the 30s thought this was cutesy fluff too.

It has a nice opening, but if I want music from then I go for Woody Guthrie. None of his songs are about drunken rich people.

  • @Influx27 Hey, man, what would the music and film industry be without drunken rich people? Show some respect.

  • my school did this i played ching

  • Too many hours spent as a child checking to see if de-lovely was a real word. Just the other day I hear this in a store and said "de-lovely isn't a word" without even realizing it.

This song is just too memorable

  • I remember when the Chrysler Corp. was in its heyday, and the factories in Detroit were humming, the De-lovely music was adapted by DeSoto for its advertising jingle.

  • what character sings this?

  • @dutchyboy14

The characters singing this number are Billy and Hope, two of the show's lead roles.

  • @HirilAredhel My friends school did this, this past week too! Haha so weird!

  • on friday and saturday, we did Anything Goes. We also noticed that Hope could say: "you've won my heart, and I've lost the game, it's de-lightful, it's de-licious, it's de-lovely!"

  • 4 people are not de-lovely.

  • this soundtrack is so de-lovely

  • what does ummm... tinpanthisasis (?) mean?

  • @arvadasally It's a play on words -- tin pan alley and antithesis -- tinpan tithesis.

  • @emartlop ooooh! i get it! now to figure out what tin pan ally and antithesis mean... to the dictionary! :)

  • Could you please add the lyrics? Thanks! :)

  • This is Hal Linden singing in the 1962 Off-Broadway revival.

The characters singing are Billy Crocker and Hope Harcourt.

  • my school is doing this for there musical

i am going to try out

  • this is Bonnie and Moonface right???

  • @juls178kgal no its hope and billy

  • @peanutv12 yeah... ur right. i found out a couple days ago. cuz i just started rehearsal... thx tho! :D

  • i heard this song on the radio and i just had to hear it again...

  • 4 Gay people Good job dude

  • I have to sing this for my audition tomorrow. Only a total of 6 guys (including me) are auditioning.

  • Ahhh, I just had callbacks for this musical today. :)

We had to sing this song, up to the second "It's delightful, it's delicious, it's de-lovely!"

I was the only boy who hit the last note and was able to be heard. :D

Pretty confident I got the role of Evelyn. At least I get a solo (Gypsy in Me).

Really wanted Billy, mostly just to sing this song and You're the Top. :)

  • @kgman07 i got moonface martin at least i get be like the bluebird

  • Keep worming Asian girls # lushfmlk.info #

  • Could you possibly post the version of You're the Top from this recording?

  • I'm so excited, I got the part of Billy Crocker for this play, it's gonna be so much fun!

  • Woah. Is youtube stalking me? I came over to look up this song and it was there waiting for me in my suggestions! I'm sure I never looked up any Cole Porter stuff before. 0_o

  • this is it's de-lovely, i'd put that in the title next time, even if the whole thing is called Anything Goes

  • What 3rd grader asks for the 1962 soundtrack for Christmas? Me...when I was in 3rd grade that is.

  • i love this song and "tweet tweet tra la la la la" haha good songs :) awesome musical

  • God damn people could sing back then. it's a shame what modern singers sound like now

  • @DeathPonies no its just a different style. this one is Jazz you can tell by the swoops, the jumps and how often a note gets sharped. A lot of people who sing pop can sound like this they just choose not to.

  • @happygirl4527 Like who? Is it all the artists who use auto tune and lip sync live performances? Not one "pop" star today in the American Music Industry has shown any real vocal skill. Even if they did, they sure don't show it by sounding horrendous live and not actually singing in tune even in studio :|

  • @bhs1212 Pop stars can do anything they want to they choose not to. People back then took vocal classes to sharpen their skills.Today most people who are popular singers don't take classes they just do their thing. There are some pop singers out there who can sing absolutly amazing on a broadway play but SUCK live at a concert.Just like a choir.A choir can sound the most amazing when singing a latin piece but can sound COMPLETELY different when singing a pop song, jazz, or even a christmas song.

  • @happygirl4527 totally right. And there's too many pop stars who never had any classical or jazz training, so they limit themselves intentionally without any knowledge of the history of music, and the different styles that exist. Madonna made the best transition when she did Sondheim in Dick Tracy and Andrew Lloyd-Weber in Evita.

  • @DeathPonies

Yes they could and i agree with you whole heartedly...um but why take the Lord's name in vain...you idiot!!!

  • @DeathPonies but then again he's bing crosby....and today brings us other great singers, like andrea bocelli and pavarotti so cant reely say for all modern singers

  • This music is incomparable!

    Thanks to share it!

    Greetings from Mexico!

  • I think this song is the funniest song ever and thats why i love it!!!!!!

Is delightful Its Delightful Its DELOVELY

  • its delightful its delicious its delovely! the verse is very true to the song!

  • we just did this at my high school and i loved it all the songs. i don't act though. i do backstage stuff
