Let's not get confused here people...I saw Journey recently and Pineda does a great job but to compare him with Steve Perry is asinine. Perry is considered by all in the industry as one of rock's GREATEST vocalist and Pineda is not and will not ever be in the same league as Perry. Filipinos have a lot to be proud of and as an Asian I think it's great that one of my favorite bands has an Asian frontman but I wish people would just enjoy Pineda today and leave the legend status to Perry.

I caught "Live in Manila" the other night, it was the first time I've ever seen Arnel Pineda. It was freaky, all the musicians are senior citizens... hey wtf thats not Steve Perry! Although Armel is very good, in fact he's a little too good. He sounds, looks, walks, dresses just like Steve Perry. All I could think about was this is just like that move "Rock Star" (2001) the one with Mark Wahlberg. Journey isn't the same w/o Steve Perry but at least Arnel Pineda keeps all of the old songs alive.

I became a Journey fan because of Arnel. 'Love his versatile voice. i say Steve is SKILLED, Arnel is TALENTED. He (AP) didn't even have a formal music schooling, but he's a great singer. BRAVO fratello!

Steve is nowhere up to par with Arnel. Arnel is a total performer. Steve can not even reach the high notes in live singing. Word is that he can only sing Mother Father in recording so Deen sings it. SP happens to be 18 years older than Arnel. I'd be so pissed if Arnel is anywhere like Steve. He is a ton better. And by Jonathan Cain's words Arnel is not a clone... He is a real dude. He does not sound like Steve but because he sings in the same high toneand tune - it sounds similar.
