we must remove the international and local monetary value of Ivory, you will never stop on the other hand the local indigenous populations need of bush meat, but the devastator in these cases is the international trade in Ivory's, & not the local trade in meats.
I grew Up In Northern Rhodesia In the 50s / 60s before I came to Scotland In the mid 60s, Surrounded by the white hunters, crocs to gorillas were common quarry, a different world you would not & I never did “comprehend”, to save & stop the ivory trade, (Dye the ivory on the living animal) and you stop the trade in it’s tracks, been saying this for 30 years. (Dye replaces die).
Modern dye is atomically register able vis nano particles, and hence traceable to an individual case of application, further is the fact that it is visible to the hunter & buyer, rendering the value to NIL… Think about it guys and tell everyone who is anyone… save it, dye it…
Very interesting idea, Thom. We certainly need some solutions that are not in play at this time.
