  • Damn this man is incredible

  • Quality voice actors (Billy West, Charlie Adler, etc.) often have a great comedic mind, Mel was no exception. It pisses me off today where they'll hire A-list actors to do voice overs just because they're a name they can put on the poster.

  • this man is really awesome, and also genius.

  • A true legend.

  • As cool as Mel Blanc is, I bit miffed that he took credit for creating Porky's voice. Joe Dougherty did the voice originally and Porky's stutter was real. In fact Joe Dougherty had such a bad stutter that it got in the way of the cartoons, so Blanc took over and toned down his stutter a bit.

  • Awesome!!! A bow for Blanc!!!

  • OOO IM DYYYINN

  • Mel was a great man. But even back then Dave Letterman was a Asshole, how Dave kissed enuff ass to stay on tv all these yrs is truly amazing. Thumbs up for Mel, thumbs dowm for Dave.

  • filmed with a camera... jk it was a potato from the 70s

  • @MrDJKaram You're dispicable.

  • Mel was an amazing man. A real role model compared to those twats we see on the Disney Channel every day. David Letterman ruined this interview for me though. Ever hear of courtesy man?

  • anyone notice how aprt from bugs pretty mucha ll the loony tunes have some form of speech impediment, be it a lisp, broken english, or like Coyote are mute

  • It was cool to see him do the voices instead of the characters.

  • Great interview. Mr. Blanc answered what most of the watchers wanted to find out.

  • 8:33 - 9:08 inspired a joke on That's so Raven. RIP Mel.

  • @GreshProject Gilbert Gottfried and Fred Norris ripped it off for a while on The Howard Stern Show, too.

  • thumbs up if u got here by bugs bunny on the show when he was talking about his ancestors and people that he knew

  • Mel Blanc was a genius, simply genius,

  • Mel Blanc should had been immortal

  • Wow... THE Mel Blanc! Now THERE was a man who really knew how the Looney Tunes characters spoke.

  • Before Seth MacFarlane, Mike Judge, The Simpsons Cast, The Family Guy Cast, You had Daws Butler, Casey Kasem, Don Messick and Frank Welker but there is ONE & ONLY MEL BLANC! Thank You MEL!! THAT'S ALL FOLKS!!!

  • @ARBELL1982 Well, Frank Welker is still doing his job :P

  • @Guitarist500 Oh ok, I wasn't sure if he was still active as he was years ago. But keep on keeeping on!!!

  • Looney Tunes... not toons. As in cartoons set to music.

  • holy damn, those are his voice? but when I listen carefully, there is resemblance on every voice. but, damn, just damn.

  • wow

  • My favorite framed art in my house is SPEECHLESS. Google blanc speechless. I think you will be touched.

  • wow I'm in shock, awe and disbelief. The golden age of cartoons voiced by one man is beyond imagination. Thanks Mel Blanc, you brought life to the characters like no else has. Bugs Bunny was my favorite character, Bugs is the biggest troll I've ever witnessed besides Charlie Sheen.

  • I'm trying to repeat the exactly what he says while doing to Foghorn voice, It's really fuckin hard

  • Mel Blanc was the best voice actor, he also made alot of children happy and i was one of them, may you rest in peace Mel Blanc.

  • @TeletoonRetro4Life Dan Castellaneta has got to equal him. John Dimaggio may have a more distinctive, less flexible voice but he shares the same energy and exuberance that they possess(ed).

  • he brought so much fun to kids lives

  • fuckin sick.

  • What a nice guy he was, i'm 48 now, i still can remember my childhood era when i was glued on the TV watching these cartoons. RIP sir :'(

  • that little touch on the arm Letterman gives Blanc in the end is really sweet; to remind him not to stand up and walk off during the preview before the comercials...

  • I wish Mel had survived to show Beatboxers how it's done!

  • my inspiration

  • I love you mel!!!

  • David Letterman shows little to no interest in this video...such a shame and such an asshole sometimes...this guy's a legend...paved the way for...today's cartoons? Unfortunately, yes. Today's will never compare to yesterday's hits.

  • OMG WHOOO would Dislike this?! I can understand about the video but come ON it's fucking 1984! God I was 2 that year haha. I agree w/ @golddragon51296... #SMH wtf yo...

  • Letterman STARTED in 1982.

  • When he does the 1926 Maxwell....Mel woulda been a sick beatboxer haha

  • Mel Blanc is a legend. in animation.....period. Thank you paying this tribute to him!

  • This man was a walking tour de force.

  • I would be laughing at Mel is sayin!! Why isnt letterman!?!?

  • david letterman is a terrible host

  • LEGEND. RIP. wish he was still around.

  • damn letterman was host a show since then??!

  • @SalemMillion i loved watching looney tunes XD

  • @SalemMillion I'm from both of those categories :D Although I STILL watch Anime. I appreciate it as art. Story-wise and drawing-wise. Manga now too though.

  • letterman was such a bad host...how did he keep that job? o_O

  • wut a legend RIP

  • I can't stand David!!!! I'm only watching this because of Mel Blanc.

  • @Weezing336 why don't you like david?? whats so bad about him

  • @TheNichofTime He isn't funny, and he seems to believe that he is royalty

  • Mel Blanc, a cartoon legend. There will never be another like him. RIP Mel!

  • Saint Mel, the patron saint of voice actors

  • coooll!

  • Dave referenced the "Sy" bit just a week ago on his show.

  • 2:27 probably my favorite episode!

  • that man is a cartoon legend

  • don't forget the kids of the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s who also grew up with his characters!

  • Comment removed

  • Ahhhhjhh, this man was just adorable <3

  • Letterman seems like a terrible host from this clip.

  • @thescudman i know he doesnt seem impressed at all!

  • awesome

  • "we're gonna go away for uh, you know.. a commercial"

  • So much talent in that little man. Amazing!!

  • wow. I just love this fella

  • Hunter Thompson's next? I'm watching that! hah.

  • i think that guy made a lot of kids happy with his voice tnx mel

  • he went to my high school!

  • WHAT WHORES DISLIKED THIS!?

  • @golddragon51296 OMG. I agree!

  • @golddragon51296 Anime fans.

  • @choice2099 not true, i am an anime fan and i love this

  • I want to see the rest of this one, Hunter Thompson was next. what a great line up.

  • Letterman sure is a shitty interviewer. Mel carried that interveiw

  • @thinker93 If you're good, that is the way it should look. An interviewer only has to work when the subject is shy.

  • @thinker93 Yep. Ltterman sucks, even with a legend, really THE legend, sitting across from him.

  • @thinker93 I KNOW RIGHT!!! he was so unenthusiastic >:(

  • @thinker93

He's also kind of a douche.

  • @Tyme2Die Letterman or Blanc? O.O

  • @thinker93 That's because he's a jerk to his guests. Always has been. He's chilled out these days but he used to be a real stinker. I think he was hitting the sauce.

  • @thinker93 - Actually ... Letterman is one of the best ... Blanc is likely not he best interview -- he is more a voiceover guy. He was used to college lectures. Blanc has the audience because they love his characters. You don't want to screw Blanc up by asking real questions .... the canned stuff works (it's more CUTE than funny .... and it is kinda dated for the time). Letterman is good because he knows the capacilities of the people he is interviewing.

  • lol cool

  • Thank you stumble!

  • wish this clip kept going i want to see hunter s. thompson too

  • gracias stumbleupon!!!

  • this guy made my childhood possible

  • Amazing man!

  • Never knew Barney was his original voice.

  • wow amazing.... i din't know it was all bacause of 1 person... amazing how i felt like a child again...

  • He did a show at Northern Michigan University in 1981 and came by the station that morning. What a wonderfull man.

  • thumbs up if ur watching this in 2034

  • Genius. Great voice.

  • On his headstone It says THAT"S ALL FOLKS

  • @hussnfussel7 its funny because its true

  • @hussnfussel7 are you serious or joking??? that is to awesome to joke about

  • @DeanMoyerMusic He's serious. It says that and "Man of 1000 voices"

  • I would kill to watch him do all these voices... it is so so so intriguing

  • one of the makers of my childhood

  • cristovam columbus italian?! yeah...

  • What's amazing about this video is that he is so willing to do his voices in front of a ton of people. He is without a doubt the best voice actor ever, and that is up against a lot of competition.

  • You are the best Mel Blanc. No one can be like you. No one will replace you

  • 400 voices!!!!5000 cartoons!!!!!!!! THIS GUY WAS A SAINT.

  • A 6-1/2 min full cartoon animation, 125 people, 9 months, and around half a million $. RESPECT

  • hehe such an inexperienced Letterman :p

  • people of indeterminable ethnicity are fascinating

  • Ladies and gentlemen, Mel Blanc, the man who made all our childhoods brighten and more fun.

  • i love foghorn leghorn. lol and mel is amazing!

  • So his real voice is more like Pepe's voice. Interesting.

  • So Mel Blanc's voice is a lot like Sylvester's. Interesting.

  • Mel was also a very very good comedic actor and was forever flooring Benny. Carson would have treated Mel Blanc with the respect and reverence he had earned through a long and very talented career. Letterman shows himself to be the ignorant jerk that he is. He prefers to look for the reflected glory of current stars. Johnny Carson makes Letterman look like a backyard douche.

  • When I was a kid, the cartoons they used to show on Cartoon Network were Looney Toons, Scooby Doo, Tom & Jerry and other classics. Now when I turn on Cartoon Network, all I see is some lame ass cartoons. Like someone else already said, kids nowadays only watch stuff like Bratz and such.

  • I never knew that about him! Wow 409 voices! Thats talent!! Awesome!

    Rip!

  • Sorry my SWYPE is acting dumb....i meant mr. blanc is trying to break the ice and david is acting like he has something better to do than interview this talented actor. Prick

  • David letterman us a dick to Mr. Blanc in this video. The man is just truong to break the I've and be funny and little david is acting like he has something better to do.

  • Today is mel's 103rd Bday RIP MEL!

  • Happy birthday, Mel Blanc!

  • Thank you so much for putting his on!! He was THE BEST!

  • A-list actors in animated films will never top this guy.

  • Mel is most definitely a legend and Letterman is still a jerk. He seems like he is not interested at all in what Mel had to say.

  • @quehouse Yes - I was really taken aback by how offhand Letterman was being, here...

  • He was so awesome! Every Saturday morning the ritual was to wake up and run into the livingroom and turn the tv on and lay on the floor to watch bugs bunny! The Bugs Bunny show was the whole reason we suffered through the week at school. We lived for Saturday mornings. Foghorn Leghorn, Spike (the dog) and his pal Chester, Pepe LePew, Bugs and the Hillbillies, that was true entertainment. I see things like Bratz on tv and it disgusts me to see the garbage they think we want our children to s

  • Don't mind the dislikes. They are just the other guys casted for some of the characters that Mel got.

  • When he did Foghorn Leghorn, I damn near died of joy. Favorite Looney Toon after Yosemite and Bugs :D

  • 15 people have no voices

  • wow over 400

  • the man who left so many cartoons without a voice... : ( they all died with him RIP Mel

  • WTF is dave phoning it in for? strange.

  • Mel Blanc is so awesome that they wrote "That's all Folks" on his gravestone...Long live the man of a 1000 voices

  • people can dislike this video?!

  • What sort of maniac presses the dislike button?

  • This might sound like a strange comment, but Mel Blank was a good screamer.

  • SOUTH POLE?!?! OOOOHHH! I'M DYYYYYYYING! classic XD

  • why can't i share it on facebook

  • Letterman really looks bored, like he really doesn't care... It's too bad, Mel Blanc was amazing...

  • @Ms9doors i was about to say the same. I like letterman, but he was disappointing on this interview

  • Ohhhhh Loony Toons .....good memories

  • Simply awesome!

  • I really don't want to picture a world in witch Mel wosnt' born. Thank You Mel :)

  • this footage is golden! thanks for posting man!

  • Wait what how did he die and when.

  • @famous0095 old age i guess he was like 90 he died in the 80s

  • @Br3ana2008 actually mel blanc died on May 30th, 1989 at the age of 81. RIP!!

  • @andross51 my mistake it was july 30th 1989, may 30th was mel's birthday!

  • anyone excited for the new looney tunes show remake cartoon network is doing?! i know me neither.

  • GOD BLESS THEESE OLDIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • this is talent you just do not find these days... phenomenal.

  • Amazing! The porky one is class lol!!

  • Looney Toons... Mel Blanc was amazing... doesn't matter what age you are, We've all grew up with his voice and those cartoons

  • Did a school History fair project on him in 5th grade:) im lucky to know so much about him now, he is a legend!

  • AMAZING. ._. No one could EVER be as amazing as him.

  • I really wish there were more fully animated cartoons today, even if they do cost more money! If they could do it back then, they can do it now... and I don't even think the money's the biggest problem. Animators today are lazy. They don't want to actually sweat and sit down and animate a quality cartoon for nine months. I'm not even sure if they have the skills anymore.

  • How can 15 people dislike this?. Mel Blanc is a legend

  • Mel Blanc once played a French diplomat who was visiting the US and was being interviewed by the White House Press Corps. The reporters never realized who it was, even though Blanc used his Pierre LePew voice. It wasn't until he switched to doing Porky Pig that the reporters realized that they had been fooled. Not sure when this story took place, but I think it was during the Kennedy era.

  • Dave Letterman would have been interviewing Madonna since she provided him with a lot of humor. He should have researched Blanc before having him come on the show. I am surprized that he didn't say, "Mr Blanc, I'm a little young to remember you. What have you done."

  • Mel Blank is a legend no one could replace him the best voice actor alive

  • i alway thought he was a girl. i thought his name was french. like mel blonck

  • Everyone who has submitted voice-over tryouts to You Tube should watch this interview. This is how to do toon voices.

  • Is it me or does letterman seem completely disinterested for some reason

  • This host is an a-hole. Mel Blanc is AWESOME and so laid back!

  • @lustbydust This host? is david fucking letterman you child

  • thanks for posting this he was a true legend miss people like him

  • What a Genius.

  • Mel Blanc is a GOD of Animation Voicing.

    What a Classic Gentleman.

  • mel is so awesome

  • this guy was great!

  • mel seems cool, and letterman seems like a douche

  • @TKD730 i always thought so. and his bald keyboard dude is even worse

  • @TKD730 thumbs up! Conan!!

  • @bridsmath that's Johnny Carson smart guy lol.

  • Mel Blanc's talent is absolutely amazing.

  • SPEEDY GONZALES!!!

  • true artist

  • he was a genuis!

  • I feel like Letterman is humoring him or something. He should be praising him.
