ya at scrapyard there is a dog named dog meat and he will attack things for you but he is very weak and can easily die by a feral ghoul.... i got him and just left him at my house and every now and then make him get me some extra ammo... trust me if you want a follower thats good make sure you get fawkes..(need good karma)

ya at main menu go to the pip boy and HUD hud mean the health and pip boy i shouldnt have to explain.. and scrap yard is right across the river and about nourth west from megaton and if you reach level 20 i would get explorer perk cuz it helps with alot more than you would think and it makes quests a lot faster..
