  • what song is it?

  • i would like to do a kind of moss mountain in my 47 gallon cichlid tank. I intend to get at least 8 of those coconut cave java moss things at petco and stack them (and if ok hot glue them together) and make a kind of pyramid out of them and let them grow into a mound of moss. what do you think? good idea, terrible idea?

  • @Hectortuba155817

Sounds interesting, I never tried coconut shell before :(....but I know it will work, just like tying moss on to driftwood. my experience with hot glue is that it will come off after sometime contact with water :(....use silicone instead :D

  • great idea , i did it same with riccia

  • @juanjesuschong

Hi thanks, I have a riccia video, I think you already saw it by now :D

  • hi I made a great wall for my 30inch tank

Using baking mesh from the pound shop which sinks and is quite heavy duty I then used a large darning needle and some 6lb fishing line to attatch the clumps of moss (remember to squeeze excess water out first lol otherwise you end up with an embarrasing wet patch in your jeans) Unlike the video I attatched the moss to the outside and suckers behind-(please try to use good quality rubber suckers they will last a whole lot longer

  • Thanks for the comment, another good method of making a moss wall :D

  • This a a nice idea and looks great once it's going. I used a single layer of mesh and weaved the java moss (so the glass acts as the doubled over mesh) on with some fishing line and a needle. So far I haven't had any mishaps but trimming can be a pain in a 200L tank!

  • Owh yeah, I was also thinkin of this kind of method, and in fact just few days ago I suggested it to someone, coz I don't have any aquarium to try this method out yet :)...So how is yours goin? does it grow nicely?

  • Yeah, it grows really well. Just make sure you grow a nice bunch in advance and start adding some ferts a couple of weeks in to feed new growth.

I was thinking about putting suckers on drift wood and adding a ledge across the back wall too... I will get a video up sooner or later and let you know if it works out ;]

  • Good thing it works, haha, at least my suggestion to a fellow hobbyist is in the right track :D

Okay, will be waiting for your video, don't quite get what you mean...sorry :D Thanks a lot

  • thanks for these fascinating video! love the soundtrack here feel i should know what it is?

  • thanks for the info! i cant wait to start one for my 20g dwarf puffer tank! i started out with a small clump of it about 2 years ago, got it to start growing on sunken driftwood and it seemed to die out for about a year and im just noticing long stems of it coming off the driftwood(its attaching itself to a fake plant and my filter, lol). ill tear off most of it to start grow more before starting the wall so i have a lot. post updated pics when it looks fuller please!

  • oh, i just saw your last update! is mosquito netting the same as screen door netting? cause i have a roll of that already

  • Any screen will do fine, as long as there is holes for the moss to grow out of it.

Yeah, you need a good ammount to make the moss wall, so it will look nice :) so growing more of them is a good idea before starting your moss wall :D

  • holy crap, i might do it too.... DIY plus cheap materials = more money in da pocket. lol... or more fish u can buy.

  • hehe, thanks for the comments....yeap, I love DIY...save lots of money, and sometimes make you creative....thanks again, cheers :)

  • i will do the same too! all your idea is cheap and fun!! really

  • Haha...thanks for the compliment chan :) let me know how it is yea

  • i just bought all the materials for this...i used platics needle work sheets and they work great...they are very rigid. also at petsmart they have 6 sucktion cups for $3 and they have a plug on back that holds it through the mesh

  • Nice...so the project is a low cost and affordable one ehh? That's what it should be. I wish you enjoy your DIY project :) let me know how it is yea
