Thanks for this simple and easy to follow routine including use of cross phrasing . I'll definitely be using it. I have also enjoyed reading your recent debate with much interest!!
I have taught for 16 + years....and I make a point of telling my students to NOT stomp their feet on the board......this is too much pressure on the ankles........I was not impressed with this routine. You were not with the rhythm of the music at all......
And how do you suppose a gently stomp on the step compares in intensity to actually stepping up and down on the step? Have you done the calculations? Are you an engineer? No, I thought not. You're just one of these people in the exercise industry who thinks they know it all and spouts rubbish without having any scientific basis for what they are saying, other than "I've done this for a very long time and therefore I am right".
I don't spout rubbish....thank you..and I am certified..........and it was NOTa gentle stomp....which in fact should have been a STEP!!!!!! You don't stomp on the board...you STEP.............I was not criticizing you....just the way you were teaching the routine......I'm not in the industry....and I don't spout rubbish, sorry if this touched a nerve. I noticed that these videos are 3-4 years old.....Thank you for your comments......have a good day!
Stomp is the name of a step move, as is mambo, as is basic, as is three knee repeater. It is not an indicator of intensity.
As for you being certified, I believe they will certify anyone these days, God help them they even certified me. I don't think however that a degree in mechanical engineering is a pre requisite for the certification of a step instructor. I certainly believe that it ought to be.
And, responding to comments like this, I seriously believe I need certifying.
@Mandastep I know stomp is a step move...I was not commenting on your step moves......and if you took it the wrong way......well I'm sorry....I'm always ready to learn and share with other instructors....and yes, they will certified anyone these days.....I received mine 16 years ago, when they were harder to obtain...and mine was a 2 day test, not like the ones you can get over the internet...and I still maintain mine, the way your suppose too..Mechanical engineering degree? Thanks for replying
An appreciation of mechanical engineering can guide a step instructor to giving better advice to Step Participants. The most frequent complaint is that Step is bad for the knees. An appreciation of forces to the knee enables me to advise class participants to never use more than one riser, or if they have any worries about their knees to use no risers at all.
I initially undertook a 16 week course at College, and now have the further Level 3 qualification which took a year to complete.
@Mandastep good for you.........just like reading out of a book.....now get over it...if you don't want comments...then take your videos off..not everyone are going to have good comments
@missqueenvic52 Don't make rude comments if you don't want me to answer them then. I notice you have made rude comments on a lot of videos, it was about time somebody stood up to you. Why don't you post something yourself instead of just being critical of others?
was thinking the same as mismindles: have you tried doing the mambos as STEP-2-STEP-4-5-STEP-7-8? As if it were one side mambo and one half mambo - doing the last "8" on step will confuse people and miss them in whatever comes next.
otherwise i really like your clear style! well done;)
you do a good job. I don't quite get the foot still on the bench for the #8 count. Usually both feet are on the floor after the mambo on 7-8. Also, I have never seen a mambo done like that. It looks like almost a side step rather than a mambo. Maybe it's that you don't really throw your hip into it like a mambo-at least that's how I taught it and how I learned it, but overall I like the combo.

That's a good idea in letting people know what you are going to do next just incase they are do their aerobic exercise at home watching your video.

cute, easy to pick up - this is off the beat choreography...she uses 6 count choregraphy, but as you can see, you always end up back on beat.
