Ibn Wahab did not create new sect, he simply purified Islam. He wanted to eradicate elements that were not part of Islam. to the large extent he succeeded. He was in agreement with Hanbali school of taught which is most correct of 4 Sunni schools.

well, it's wrong. wahabi is same as sunni. wahabi is strict sunni that follows only the books. it's the most orthodox interpretation of texts. infact, all sunnis r supposed to be like that. wahabi is term made up in order to manipulate people's minds. so whenever they see muslim who is strictly following islam they usually label him wahabi, thus creating fear in people.
