  • had this shit until like 2002

  • @LamboK28992 I went until late 2003. I got so used to that sound that when my parents switched without telling me I was freaked out that it was working without that noise. I honestly hid in a corner out of fear (I was about 7 at the time, and have never been a rational thinker)

  • This always scared me as a young child.

  • i miss this for some reason but when it used to happen i always raged

  • I still remember hearing this noise every time I wanted to connect to the internet, and it was only 7 or so years ago. It's amazing how the internet has advanced.

  • Is it wierd that when i was 6 (year 2005) i would hear this on those tornado warnings and it scared the shit out of me. It didnt startle me, the noise just sounds like youre trying to call hell. I have no clue why i like dubstep.

  • Why couldn't they have just made this sound be elevator music

  • This sound makes we wanna die, it creeps me out

  • I still have dial up :D

This video has been loading for an hour

  • In the 90s we hated this noise

  • @mtbmikex9 *that commercial about HughesNet is on for the billionth time*

  • This is like having AT&T.

  • Who remembers having to hear this sound if you wanted to go on the internet. Or was I the only one?

  • @killdoser123 You are not alone.

  • @Blaxien oh yeah

  • @killdoser123 Yes, back when I never complained about a slow connection. We were fine with it, because we didn't know about anything else.

*sigh* Windows 95... I miss you.

  • @killdoser123 Yes, you were the only one.

  • @killdoser123 me :D

  • @killdoser123 I remember this, but i am not 15 yet.

  • The first, unintentional dubstep.

  • @RacerXGTO yeah thanks for that mate, I hadn't really thought of the white noise like that before, just makes you wonder quite how worryingly fast broadband would be, let alone fiberoptic

  • Now people call it dubstep.

  • What exactly generated the noise we all used to hear? Does it have something to do with the flow of electrons or something like that?

  • @Ferrariman601 Remember, digital data is 1 and 0's. What you are hearing is a fast surge of 1's and 0's in the form of audible tones, but to us, sounds like white noise because the pulses are so fast, the human ear cannot discern the precise pules of digital signals being sent back and forth that quickly. Think of it as sending a single page from a textbook, but sent in Morse Code, but at 1/700th of a second.

  • @RacerXGTO Ah, got ya!

Thank you for such a detail explanation.

  • The graphic looks like a penis ejaculating sound waves.

  • ههههههههههههههههههههههههههه

    ما أبشعه .

  • love the new dubstep track

  • is this... noisia machine gun (56k dial-op remix)??

  • m0:00re

  • Actually sounds really cool. Until you heard it for a day and a half.

  • I LOVE DUBSTEP!!!

  • Did you ever make the connection?

  • I remember my uncle telling me that it was like an airplane flying into the computer, that's why it made that noise... It always made me cry for some reason.

  • Where is the drop?

  • OH GOD THE HORROR!!! THE HORROR!!!!

  • And this is what we call Dub step from the 90's.... With random shouts of curse words at people on the phone or the computer failing to get on the internet...

  • I want this as my ring tone.

  • Ha ha ha these noises can sound pretty scary some times.

  • this is dubstep

  • can we get an HD version of this, please?

  • This is the single most pleasurable sound that ever came out of my first computer.

  • lyrics:

too tee tee too tee tee too too

beep! ...wrnheel... beepbeep (wroow) wrwiiiw (wroow)

    DEEDEEDEEDEEDEEDEEDOOOOOOO

    FRRRMMMMM DRRMMMM RRRH!

    SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SHHHHHHHHH *beep*

    SHHHHHHHHH zzzzzzZZZZOING *beep*

    RRRSHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

  • well this was the dubstep back in the 90's, but no one knew its musical value till now.

  • its almost scary D:

  • this is the Skrillex remix? right?

  • It's a cool blast from the past!

  • Where's the drop?

  • @TheBambam2371 lol i remember that to.... back in the day

  • now i have a reason to buy dial up.. where can i get it?

  • Comment removed

  • 25 people still use dial-up

  • This all of a sudden reminds me of R2d2 ..but back then It was normal

  • Isn't it weird? We all hated that sound back in the day, but now we look fondly at it.

  • I never understood the point of playing it through the speakers. Sure, it's useful to hear if you get a busy signal, but after that it's just nonsense. If you need to debug the connection you look at the serial buffer.

  • Ahh, so this is where dubstep came from! It all makes sense now!

  • Oh god, this noise!

  • What made this noise? Was it coming through the speakers or what? I was just old enough catch the last dieing breath of dial up at my friends house but i don't remember this noise.

  • @hyldago It came from the modem itself.

  • @hyldago it's the computer's "voice" on the telly. you're hearing the data.

  • Some dude commenting on Elways Facepage brought me here.

  • I'm pretty sure this is dubstep.

  • the first dubstep

  • they played this on the radio and someone texted back saying "is this dubstep?"

  • What was the point in modems making this sound, why not just send the electrical data and shut up?

  • Good old times.

  • love that sound.. remembers me on old times

  • In Soviet Russia Dial-up is Broadband

  • @peekaloo12 i know right...

  • ...I somewhat miss this noise...

  • @OddBall9573 Strangely, so do i.
