@nugzarmikeladze - You're right about the MGM connection, but at the time Tom and Jerry was produced, it was a different lion - the current lion wasn't established until 1957.
That's normally associated with United Artists, even during the time UA belonged to MGM in the early 1980s (though the James Bond franchise has recently been handled by MGM, as opposed to their UA division).
Man, I love all these old intro's. They're like old friends. I always get excited when I go to the movies and see one. I always end up thinking about all the good times those intros have brought me.
