There are apps you can download that bump the speed of your CPU down (and therefore use less power) when you arent using it to its full potential and dont NEED all the computing power, if you're that concerned about the environment.

The truth is that Linux(Unix) Based operating systems like the one in the video PClinuxOS is first and formost open source, meaning it's absolutly FREE... and you can do what you wish with it, if you can, you can even change the code to modify it. Secondly, Linux OS's run more effeciently than windows. That's why most servers are linux, so Youtubes server, probably a linux!
although it's free it doesn't guaranty ease of use, most ordinary pc users would be scared to death if they ever came across a GUI problem that requires repair via terminal.
Oh, and your computer will run WAY faster and better on linux, it doesn't take as high system specs to run. So go buy that $3000 computer to run Vista Ultimate, while we continue to run linux for free and I bet this video was ran on a computer that can't even handle Vista, but the graphics are equal. People are so quick to judge, you all have the Wal-Mart effect. So scared into that crap! LOL oh, and I do run Vista, but don't diss Linux, it's the free world.... acknowledge it!

hehe, I actually have a friend named Linux, and we always made reference to the computer/software as an insult. but now, as I watch this amazing video, I'm thinking it was more of a compliment than anything else.
Linux does not offer "worse" graphics than windows, as this is only affected by your graphics hardware. in fact, most linux desktop look nicer than standard windows, as they are much more customizable to fit your needs. of course, you could use other shells than explorer in windows, but that's more complicated than installing a user friendly linux :)
Linux is capable of the same quality of graphics that any other OS is, as this is mostly determined by hardware. But may not have as slickly designed icons and overall theme as other OS's that have spent a lot of money on Graphic Design, although this can be influenced by personal taste. Linux does have some nice icon choices, and i'm sure you could have it imitate the look of comercial OS's 'exactly' with a bit of modding.
Eh, nothing special. PCLinuxOS isn't the only thing capable of running Compiz/Beryl, as I'm using those very effects in Compiz Fusion installed on Ubuntu :) The fire effect is awesome though :)

no, it doesn't use more electricity (maybe it does, but if so, very, VERY little extra), it just uses up a little more graphic memory. lol.
Actually Linux uses a lot less resources than windows, so it's be using less than Windows default than LinuxOS with a lot of add-ons and plug-ins.
