@HUKKAH19 Ripple doesnt have a large effect on stability per se, that has more to do with voltage stability. Ripple is the amount of pulsating DC current left in the power signal after AC electricity has been converted to DC using a rectifier circuit of some kind. In a perfect world, we would have no ripple(such as higher end server power supplies), but in the real world, you want to keep ripple to a minimum, which cheap units do not do, as they make use of poor quality components such as caps.
@faisal2003456 WRONG---Rosewill(or "roswell" as this user called it in his video). The majority of rosewill power supplies are made by oems such as ATNG, Solytech, or Youngyear, all poor chinese manufacturers with very poor ripple, and large amounts of ac ripple will kill components slowly over time. Not to mention, many of those units have no over current or overvoltage protection, and when they fail can damage other components as well. Moose51789 is 100% correct, dont skimp on a power supply.
All i can tell you if u want to make better vid's is plan what you are doing. no offense but i just saw you taking parts out with no clue of what they were
Geez rosewill psu. When will poeple learn to actually spend the money and get a good name psu. Feel sorry for whatever evga tech gets your phone call for rma because that piece of crap psu blew up
@faisal2003456 PSU is the most important part of a build. Without a quality model (like PCP&C, Corsair, etc.. NOT including Rosewill or those other no names) your rig has a very slim chance of overclocking well or even lasting as long as a machine built with a quality PSU. Ripple has a big affect on stability and those lesser known companies simply cannot match the quality of a more expensive manufactured model. <- my .02
I don't care if a PC has two i7 chips; macs would still run smoother. You know why? Because the software and hardware are designed to run seamlessly with each other. PC's are like one big soup. Big chips do not make them run any more seamless than lower end ones.
i agrreeee totally but in retrospect people buy these because they are cheaper and becuase of mac hardware and software issues not like os i mean seperate programs like fraps n stuff macs are awsome but lack in conveniance

I'm buying a new pc in a few months! Intel i7 920 (OCed to at least 3ghz) gtx 295 and 4gb ddr3 1333mhz ram.!!! The only drawback... I'v never built a pc before! and have never overclocked eather! and it's at christmas i get this:(
Nvidia GeForce 6150 SE graphics (up to 1343 MB total)
Windows Vista Home Premium with SP1 (32-bit) Do you think that it is a good computer fro Flight Simulator X? Also can you help me which one to buy between the intel core 2 quad, and the intel core 2 extreme
2 simple rules never get gigayte! so many problems, 1 out of 3 of their motherboards have problems, trust me, my cousin and i build so many computers a month for others these are nothing but trouble, i have never had a problem with asus. and never get lite on, they are the worst dvd drives you can get.
where can i get windows7 and can i download with a mac. btw thermal paste is on the cooler of the cpu cooler in the cpu box. usually 3rd party coolers have them too. but most paste in boxes suck and you need to get new anyway. thats what i did and im happy
The release candidate? Download it at Microsoft's website, and it won't work on a Mac - you have to be using a computer with Windows on it or a computer designed for Windows. Macs are their own computers and operating systems.
I don't recommend using Windows 7 though, it's the beta of Windows Vista times 500. Buggy, slow, the taskbars are oversized, everything is completely complicated...etc.
i did. it is free and i love it. your talking about the beta not release candidate. release candidate is wayyyy better than beta. i had beta and i know what your talking about. i love it but i hate the fact it is not finished.
No, I'm not talking about the early beta, I'm talking about the release candidate. I have it, I've tried it, I hate it.
But it may be finished. This is a release candidate (there's probably many more but aren't available over the Internet), which means it could be chosen as the final version. Therefore, if it was finished and is still as piss-poor as it is, I bet a lot of people are going to be switching back to Vista (god) or XP.
HAHA I was going to post a comment saying Case? The minute I did the thing on case latter poped up, looks exciting, Im goingt to build a computer too soon.
Yep, I must agree with you there, I would have gone Core i7 but perhaps he knows something we don't? :o) I also would have gone Asus instead of GB for the mobo but I guess that's the fun of self build, the choice!
I tried to keep this build as low cost as possible (this was just about $600 for everything) and a priced out I7 build would have been hundreds more than my budget. I also read that if you were thinking of getting and I7 that you should wait 6-9 months for the "v2" of it to come out as the current isn't a giant improvement (From what i have read)
Yeh that's fair enough, they're pretty pricey here in the UK too. $600 dollars sounds excellent for what you got, I think you did well there and I bet it runs like grease lightning! p.s. what are your thoughts on SSDs? I've been toying with the idea of getting one and installing Windows on it, as the read/write times are a huge improvement on the old platters. I can't find much about how they perform in desktops tho, only laptops so would be interested to hear your thoughts!
The current version D0 stepping is the way to go. The future one will not have support for triple channel so if there is anyone thinking about buying i7, now is the time to do it.
I have basically bought all new hardware for my computer, except a CPU, motherboard, and HDD.
I have even bought items from newegg that weren't originally in my custom computer from a friend, that was destroyed by the postage service upon shipping to my home.
All my upgrades to my computer, have been maybe $200-300.
Everything new, except my GFX card is from Newegg, my GFX card is from Best Buy, which was about $74.
definitely, but i'd rather pay a lot for a computer that will last a LOT longer than a High-street PC...
PCs from the High Street retailers are actually old computer stuff which has been put together and they have told to flog them for as much as they can... It's like saying to someone, "everyone's moved to DVDs. Take this VCR recorder and flog it."
(I know this because My job is working with IT Technicians)
I am serious, I have never purchased anything from Alienware, it's either a brand new Dell computer, or a custom built computer using excellently priced products from newegg, or a generous friend.
Where I work, the other guys said alienware is the way to go.. That way, you won't make any mistakes, and you know it's gonna be reliable and not break down after a year like HP, Acer etc :)
I agree with you on HP, never used Acer, Dell has always been my computer company of choice, my dad had a friend that had an alienware computer, and he said it was junk.
A custom built PC is the only way to go. I bet you overpaid by 4 to 500 dollars just so you could have an Alien on your case. Alienware is also now owned by dell.
With a little research online, you could easy learn how to step by step build your computer. I have worked as a computer tech and people are surprised at how easy installing ram or an expansion card is. I think the money you save warrants the little amount of time needed to understand exactly what your are buying and how it works.
I have: 8gb corsair ram, 2tb hard drive, 2x gtx 550ti 1gb, corsair 750w psu, amd x6 ii 1090t, 5x 120mm fans, with water-cooling.

I agree with you on HP, never used Acer, Dell has always been my computer company of choice, my dad had a friend that had an alienware computer, and he said it was junk.

Really?!?!
Interesting!
I must say I'm surprised...!
I love my Alienware to bits. It's big and does a hell of a lot compared to normal PCs... ah well
this debate could go on for ever, so I'm just gonna say:
Dell are good.
Alienware are good.
High Street brands are ok for work, browsing, etc, but I don't treally recommend them.

Everything I do on my computer, is done on a custom built machine, no particular company.

hmm...
lol
ok

Sometimes building a custom PC can be better than a pre-built computer, b/c you put stuff in it, that might not be an option with a computer company.
Airportchris2 2 years ago
agreed.
But I only wanted the defaults listed as it's a pretty ace PC... lol
so It was ok for me...

I can get a much better looking case that lights up, etc.

looooooooool
ok
:)

A custom built PC is the only way to go. I bet you overpaid by 4 to 500 dollars just so you could have an Alien on your case. Alienware is also now owned by dell.

Interesting...
At least I know that my computer has been built 100% correctly and that if it goes wrong, I have warranty on it...
If you build it yourself, it's all down to you... It's better to get the Professionals to do it in my opinion...

With a little research online, you could easy learn how to step by step build your computer. I have worked as a computer tech and people are surprised at how easy installing ram or an expansion card is. I think the money you save warrants the little amount of time needed to understand exactly what your are buying and how it works.
