when i got my gas mask it said that the filter should be used before 1199 so is it not safe to use??

This is an MSA "Ultra-Twin" facepiece. MSA still makes it and it takes multiple types of filters including 40mm, and with an adapter it takes MSA's industrial filters. There is another version of this mask called an "Ultra-Vue": the only difference is instead of two filter ports on the sides, there is a hose in the center, under the voicemitter, which may run to a powered filter system, an SCBA, or a supplied air system, gas mask filter, or OBA.

That mask is intensely badass. Man I can't believe you got it so cheap! I checked on eBay and this mask is like $60 bucks now and I'm low on cash. I'd love to have this for like airsoft.

Good deal yea I got an m40 with filter and butyle skin for like 50 buck and on approved gas mask . Com they wanted around four or five hundred for it . Lol ppl get lucky sumtimes good mask bro

@kittydave666 nope, the faceplates are usually impact resistant though. MABYE it would stop a subsonic .22 round, but not very likely

@NoxicV yep, you could breathe more easily, but the reason the openings are on both sides is so that you can shoulder a weapon if you're a lefty or a righty

i never tried it but i would kindof assume with a rubber gas mask it would blow up like a balloon but any way it does have the hole where air goes out so mabey not

@Arashieatssweets you could, but unless you used a S.C.B.A. style regulator, all of your air would rapidly flow in the intake and out the exhale valve with the user just taking little "sips" of the air flowing past. you would run out of air very fast and it would be very loud. Are you looking to make a S.C.U.B.A. rig?

The filter is for Riot Control Agents (RCA) such as tear gas only, it isnt designed for biological and chemical protection.

doesnt matter how new it is. the rubber wont degrade to the point where it wont kepp out chemicals unless its literally falling apart. i had a 1979 isreali mask and it was 100% perfect working order
