Putting silly voices on for people you don't like when quoting them and forcing very snide comments and jibes in an underhand derogatory sarcastic manner is very poor form Leo. Honestly, TWiT is trying to make money, which they seem to be doing successfully. They could probably made the Late Night Tech show viable it was during the day. But having it during the day was probably too threatening than the other shows. And if premier would of got behind Erik it would have been threatening to Leo himself. Lisa saw this and decided it would be best to get rid of Erik. Then Erik spoke his mind partially once and it was the perfect opportunity to can him. That's how I see it.

I don't know what happened in the past with the two of you but she makes it clear many times that you were not welcome at TWiT. You do have to step on people to get ahead. I never took that approach but wish I had. I might be on top right now. This video upload is old. I think it's time you start uploading new content. You will go far.
Erik, I think it is important that you take your talent and move on from your experience at TWiT. Leo's outing of his relationship with his CEO may be TWiT's "jumping the shark" moment and you may be better off not being associated with it. Of all those at TWiT you may be the best off as they have firmly disassociated themselves from you. Whether TWiT succeeds or becomes a tainted brand, Leo has managed to get himself a worldwide reputation as "The Incompetent Tech Guy".

I was a TWiT fan until I saw a live segment of Lisa & Leo planning the new studio. They were so arrogant. Everything that has happened since has validated my feeling on that day: the friction (jealousy? fear?) with The Verge folks, Glenn moved from host to LAN party organizer, Erik fired, etc. I just feel bad for some folks in TWiT who I think put their hearts into the network and seem like genuinely great people: JammerB and Tom. The nostalgia of the TSS days will only carry TWiT so far.

I have to start by saying WOW. I apologize but since you switched back to nights it made it harder to watch TTB regularly since I am on the EastCoast (Tampa). I am around the same age as yourself and related with you more than anyone else on TWIT. TWIT lost something that they are really lacking which is the younger talent (This is why I prefer the REV3 alternatives). I wish you the best and hope you keep us updated with your on your future ventures on G+ and twitter.
I used to watch TWiT but no more. So much of it is an "All About Leo" parade. Tiresome. Your video does a lot to help folks like me gain perspective on what happens over there. I totally avoid TWiT now that you're no longer there.
I realize that, for you, putting this behind you is easier said than done. But I wouldn't be such a big fan of yours if I didn't believe that you will be able to move on to greater heights, ideally your own show somewhere.
Leo's been good for some real surrealistic moments...ragging on Premiere, complaining about Carbonite live reads...and this. Premiere should dump his tired old ass, and move on. No onder he's a bit unhinged about a young, talented guy.

Big fan of Erik since first seeing him as the producer for Tech News Today before Jason Howell came over. This is really an unfortunate circumstance. It's clear that Leo needs to transition a bit from being the on-air talent to encouraging and helping the up-and-coming grow... not an easy transition to make.
Keep hustling Erik, Leo is right about the hard work part. You've got that down, just keep at it and don't lose your enthusiasm.
I like leo, but I think he has lost the plot. I can't believe he is letting lisa dictate the future of the twit network. He sits beside her like a frightened puppy dog, my advice to leo is grow a pair of balls leo take back control of the twit network and give her the boot. Erik, don't give up, I had my Broadcast Career Completely Derailed by my Ex Girlfriend who Cussed Out the Program Director of 700 WLW and cost me a Job that I was Offered that Paid over $270000 a Year and then Cost me my other Job by Cussing Out the Secretary at the other 50000 Watt station I worked at. Make sure you get back to work ASAP because I haven't worked in Radio since the end of December 1992, I had a Bright Future and it was gone just like that and I just gave up.

This is why I have stopped watching all TWiT programming. Leo is a douchebag that is fucking his CEO and does not give a crap who he screws over. Leo has made enemies by poaching talent from CNET and Revision 3. Lisa has said on numerous occasions that she hates Erik and does not want him on the network and since Leo is fucking Lisa, he has to do everything she says or she will sue Leo when she quits for sexual harassment. I actually thought the caller was the person who was "bad mouthing" Leo if anything, and Erik did agree that a screener would make his life easier etc, but that was kind of it. It seems to be that Lisa runs TWiT/Leo and she dislikes Erik and was looking for a excuse to get Leo to fire him. Where Leo really comes across as petty towards his own fans as well as Erik's (who tended to be a crossover audience) was the final mocking of a fan who just asked for a statement why the show was canceled.

It's a shame about this. I really want to support TWiT but Leo and Lisa are making poor business decisions by airing their belittling comments about their own presenters and shows. Leo says in this clip that they can't afford "talent." How should that make Sarah, Tom, and everyone else feel? They are all certainly talent. Is there an age requirement for "talent?" To feel the need to make a distinction between everyone is self-destructive and makes them look ridiculous.
Till a few days ago i simply loved twit.tv and thought nicely about Leo. Now i see it clearer - like the chat, where the mods ban/kick just for asking questions (be it why Leo screw over Erik, or any question about the "oops the whole internet saw that i'm sleeping with my boss".

It's obvious from this video that Leo felt extremely threatened by you and that's certainly understandable considering how long he worked to build his mini empire. Leo is just scared of failing period. He's invested heavily hoping for a big return that so far hasn't become the hot new thing. My gut feeling is TWiT will undergo staff reductions by mid 2012 as the quality of material and host talent dwindles.
@krasherkid Did you see the Inside twit where leo said the new studio remodel cost1.2 million dollars? And that $500,000 of it came from him? And that the $500,000 unsecured loan he obtained for the remodel was less than what he owes on his house? He is defiantly scared of competition for the radio show, as he would be insolvent pretty quickly without it.
@krasherkid Well all the talent will be out of a job permanently because Leo and TWiT are blacklisted and no one is going to hire someone from TWiT even if it is Tom Merritt or Sarah Lane. They are going to have to start their own company or have their friends give them shows on Frogpants or somewhere else. CNET and Revision 3 won't rehire or hire any of them because of their connections to TWiT.
@sunsirel From what I read of the chat transcript from Erik's last Late Night Tech was that he has been trying to get interviews for jobs at CNET and Revision 3, but getting denied bc of his association with Leo and TWiT. Leo for the past year & a half have been poaching talent from both companies. Tom was the 1st, Jason Howell, Veronica Nicole Lee. No one is going to get hired after working for TWiT, except Colleen, bc of the bad reputation Leo & Lisa have & running the company into the ground.
I think the parts that look the worst for Leo is when he said outright that there would be a spot for Erik at the new studio, but later when they are actually moved in to the new studio, Leo repeatedly says there isn't a good place for Erik to do his show.
Secondly, Leo states repeatedly on many occasions that no one else can use his own office and then he reneges instantly on that statement when Lisa says she wants to use his office, just seconds after he said NO ONE can use it.
Leo should have remembered an old saying "there is always someone better than you" clearly Erik just had a extraordinary talent for podcasting and Leo could not take it.
The entire sequel of events is pathetic! This saga happens in all fields. How can one survive on 50 dollars a show in California. This is a field that I have little knowledge on. Probably it was only an offer for the opportunity to get noticed. You are very talented Erik!!! Feel that you are a perfectionist too. Being young doesn't mean that you aren't knowledgeable. One has to be respectful of others. We only can think & do for ourselves. All of these happenings will shatter TWiT.

I think its important to focus on future endeavors. If Erik would setup a live mp3 stream, even if its doing repeats that would be a good start. Let his work speak for itself, which it does. Moving forward, taking action towards positive productivity will help heal the resentment, I hope. Bitterness and cynicism can consume all. It will be challenging but Erik will do it :)

Well Erick, I think you are a very capable person. I guess working at TWiT isn't a "real job" and they don't deserve you anyway. Well I have been thinking Leo does not care about his audience for a while now first the Gaming show then not making Late Night Tech available for us International Viewers who would have increased the numbers by a lot more than only having the US able to see it at the time I wandered why Leo was saying he had not a large enough audience for Late Night Tech and at the same time was only having it on at a time US Viewers could watch but it now makes sense he wanted a reason to get rid of Erik
Now I understand why Lisa acts like she owns TWiT. Maybe Leo fired you becuase she ordered it. Regardless you are a great tech host and you'll do great anywhere.

I preferred Erik controlling the board on TNT and then he disappeared and although Jason seems like a great guy I have a feeling Erik took it a bit more seriously and looked over the news in more detail to offer a more refined opinion when called upon.
I don't think they ever wanted to give Erik a chance, they should have put him on TWiT and TNT to not only promote himself and Late Night Tech but also because he would be a decent guest.
@obanok I almost feel the same way, which is a shame as there is still some decent shows on TWiT, it just seems the ones I find enjoyable lately don't involve Leo - TNT and NSFW mainly. Things like Mac Break Weekly, TWiG and depending on the guests TWiT are feeling almost like a chore to watch now. That's not to say the hosts are bad, just the format is starting to feel stale especially when its a dull news week.
Erik, I think you were one of the best "talents" TWiT had, some of the other hosts aren't that good to watch. It appears that the majority of the "hosts" read the news and add a little to the story but don't seem to add anything that valuable.
You should just carry on doing the show and upload it to youtube and make it a podcast, I'm sure it will grow to be bigger than some TWiT shows!

Honestly, TWiT is trying to make money, which they seem to be doing successfully. They could probably made the Late Night Tech show viable it was during the day. But having it during the day was probably too threatening than the other shows. And if premier would of got behind Erik it would have been threatening to Leo himself. Lisa saw this and decided it would be best to get rid of Erik. Then Erik spoke his mind partially once and it was the perfect opportunity to can him. That's how I see it.

I was a TWiT fan until I saw a live segment of Lisa & Leo planning the new studio. They were so arrogant. Everything that has happened since has validated my feeling on that day: the friction (jealousy? fear?) with The Verge folks, Glenn moved from host to LAN party organizer, Erik fired, etc. I just feel bad for some folks in TWiT who I think put their hearts into the network and seem like genuinely great people: JammerB and Tom. The nostalgia of the TSS days will only carry TWiT so far.

I have to start by saying WOW. I apologize but since you switched back to nights it made it harder to watch TTB regularly since I am on the EastCoast (Tampa). I am around the same age as yourself and related with you more than anyone else on TWIT. TWIT lost something that they are really lacking which is the younger talent (This is why I prefer the REV3 alternatives). Big fan of Erik since first seeing him as the producer for Tech News Today before Jason Howell came over. This is really an unfortunate circumstance. It's clear that Leo needs to transition a bit from being the on-air talent to encouraging and helping the up-and-coming grow... not an easy transition to make.

It seems to be that Lisa runs TWiT/Leo and she dislikes Erik and was looking for a excuse to get Leo to fire him. @sunsirel From what I read of the chat transcript from Erik's last Late Night Tech was that he has been trying to get interviews for jobs at CNET and Revision 3, but getting denied bc of his association with Leo and TWiT. Leo for the past year & a half have been poaching talent from both companies. Tom was the 1st, Jason Howell, Veronica Nicole Lee. I think the parts that look the worst for Leo is when he said outright that there would be a spot for Erik at the new studio, but later when they are actually moved in to the new studio, Leo repeatedly says there isn't a good place for Erik to do his show.

I think its important to focus on future endeavors. If Erik would setup a live mp3 stream, even if its doing repeats that would be a good start. Let his work speak for itself, which it does. What's really creepy or strange is the "kissing butt" comment. Leo's excuse for using people because that's how it's done in the industry. Thus it's okay and Erik should have known this.

That's why I don't watch TWIT anymore. Leo Laporte is two faced. I remember when Leo complained about Premier and said something to the effect that he hated the radio show and couldn't wait for his contract to be up. Also I find Leo's behavior very unprofessional, talking about HR stuff on the air. We are seeing Leo's true colors.

Bottom line is, you DON'T have to worry. You are a great person with a lot of talent, and wherever you decide to go, you will always excel.

I pulled my monthly donation after hearing about this. I preferred Erik controlling the board on TNT and then he disappeared and although Jason seems like a great guy I have a feeling Erik took it a bit more seriously and looked over the news in more detail to offer a more refined opinion when called upon.
I don't think they ever wanted to give Erik a chance, they should have put him on TWiT and TNT to not only promote himself and Late Night Tech but also because he would be a decent guest.

@obanok I almost feel the same way, which is a shame as there is still some decent shows on TWiT, it just seems the ones I find enjoyable lately don't involve Leo - TNT and NSFW mainly. Things like Mac Break Weekly, TWiG and depending on the guests TWiT are feeling almost like a chore to watch now. That's not to say the hosts are bad, just the format is starting to feel stale especially when its a dull news week.

Erik, I think you were one of the best "talents" TWiT had, some of the other hosts aren't that good to watch. It appears that the majority of the "hosts" read the news and add a little to the story but don't seem to add anything that valuable.
You should just carry on doing the show and upload it to youtube and make it a podcast, I'm sure it will grow to be bigger than some TWiT shows!

@NCWAWEB I felt the same way but with there being so many instances... I think with Leo being so into politics he sure did take the politician's approach by verbally making promises he wasnt planning on keeping. It just looks bad as a whole, but like my politicians I still respect him.. sort of.

That's really sad to hear. It was through you that I found TWiT and what Leo was up to now, but truthfully I never liked Leo, he seems to have the attention span of a gnat and a smarmy way of "talking and shaking hands" -- something he has in common with most politicians.

This video made me dislike Leo, plays his insults off as "jokes", just a very disrespectful attitude. Good actor on the air though, pretending to care about something other than money.

:( I'm sorry how this all went down. I'm only hearing about this just now as I haven't had much of a chance to watch TWiT's stuff the past month or so. I'll definitely miss you & your show on the network. From what I've seen of you on air you're not one to do the things Leo was saying you did.
