  • WHATS THE FUCKIN BEAT CALLED? SOMEONE UPLOAD IT OR SUTTIN

  • People were making great music way before and on up until the advent of computers and software. If you are a true artist you are a true artist no matter what you use.

If you are fake you will suck even in a multi million dollar studio with state of the art gear.

  • The pitch change is the best part to me

  • Its a pity Kev's Mpc got stolen when he was in South Africa about 2 weeks ago.

  • @DIZ3KT6 wtf.. for real?

  • yo everyone has their own way of doin things, i got the 2k classic kev has the xl which is a bit different than the classic 2000 so i have no idea how he does his things u gotta just do you

  • Yo Kev Brown is probably one of my favorite niggas chopping' shit up right now (along with Mad Lib, Apollo Brown and Statik Selektah).

This dude's musical library is so fucking vast from old Hendrix to some bomb funk to old Jazz records, many niggas ain't fucking with the bol Kev Brown.

    Ill beat.

Search Eddie Pesos "Greatness" Puerto Rock kid from PA droppin' ill joints on the mic.

  • F.L. Studio user.......my beats is dope tho!!! It's the man behind the machine not the machine behind the man....

  • @ZITRONIXX amen

  • spazzy finger 1:45

  • This beat is DOOOOPPEEEE. Is it out?

  • Heh, I like how it says "Strings please" and gets woodwinds.

  • Been watching this video for years... its gets better every year

  • AMAZING

  • Is this beat out yet? MAN this is real sound!

  • @protector440 Hassaan Mackey - "War"

  • That was mad flavorful man! Make a track for me to kick somn to! Check me out and let me me know

  • For all the future producers anything machine or DAW can be used to express yourself and music!!! I have a mpc and I have all the latesoftware!!! EQing is very important, sound The problem with software to me is millisecs of latency!! The Mpc has No latency or Triton, motif ,etc....!! I have beats where people are confused what I used as far as MPC or software!!! I leave yall with one last note ,Get what you can afford and use to your best ability!! Peace and Blessings

  • @bewright2787 @CAallday209 Heavy/dope tracks can be made in software..you just need to find the right guys doing it. Anno Domini beats, Vherbal, Apollo Brown, and Cardiak r good examples off the top of my head that use software..theres plenty of trash made on MPC's too;look around youtube for proof of that. Dunno where the "MPC sound" stuff comes from either unless its a 16 bit machine like the 3000 or 60...otherwise the sounds are the same as a DAW with everything else equal (mixing, EQIng etc)

  • @nawdik sure good shit can be made with software. i dont care though. i disregard software hip hop. it is what it is. and yeah duds are made on drum machines all the time. making duds is part of (real) beat making. for every good beat a beatmaker makes he prob made 3 or 4 straight duds. then that good shit comes around and the work is more worthwhile. if your making wack shit on software...then your straight fucking wack. shits too easy...and gay.

  • I can picture Mobb Deep spittin' over this beat.

  • At 2:15 he treats it like a typewriter. The man is a genius.

  • i got that same portable.... i was happy to ditch the Fisher Price joint...lol

  • Which song is this and where can I hear the completed song?

  • @Makhomotho thats eddie floyd.. cant remember the name of the song though

  • @versatialproductions Oh, that's where the samples he cut up came from, but I wanted to hear Kev's version, the full version, do you know?

  • fuck software.

  • @CAallday209 y u hate software

  • @MrDeathStroke1 software is one of the biggest reasons theres so much wackness out there. im not gonna begin to explain. i see your a youngster with a taste and possibly talent. the fact that your watching mpc vids shows that you prob want a drum machine somewhere down the line. invest in a machine when you can and leave software behind. you'll be a million times happier.

  • write this nigreau tell him keep his head up yall!!!!

word on the streets dude is a little discouraged about the biz

i got big respect for this dude hip hop /black /soulful music needs Kev Brown

sometimes we gotta all get a job but dont stop the music

  • theres something strange to the mpc. dont know what it is. but you can clearly hear whether a beat is made with like fl or reason or with eq like an mpc or sp.

  • @kutvanmoeder5 it all depends on the producer but i know what u mean

  • nice gritty vibe

  • how do you make a beat sound so good with just drums, sample and say bass filter? when ever i do it i always end up thinking it needs more..... anyone got any ideas? and im not the best at mixing and mastering :/

  • @TheGhettostylus layer sounds.

  • @kutvanmoeder5 i always layer sounds layer everything, think it comes down to the mixing and mastering and i suck at that bif time...

  • 30 people must have wanted him to do this on fruity loops!

  • Check out my remake ..sort of..Peace

  • pure genius

  • @bartjuhh12 I believe he did. he prob tuned down the filter from 100 to prob 50 or less . just to get the bass sound behind the strings

  • Comment removed

  • for the strings he just filtered the sample different right?

  • Comment removed

  • I CAN DO EVERYTHING HE'S DOIN WIT JUST A LAPTOP AND SUM MONITORS. ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS GET FL STUDIO AND CHANGE THE STEPS TO THREE INSTEAD OF FOUR AND SAMPLE SUMTHIN.....EASY.

  • @hustlafiveofour of courese you could anybody could my 6 year cousin can fuck with fl studios its not that hard to do,but doing it on a mpc is different its take technique and skill, and its about the feel, shit im not knockin on people that use software do whatever works, shit i started on software, but its just something about the mpc that you cant duplicate on FL

  • @slick1hit but wtf he doin lol. everytime he spins the record back he's recording the samples? if he's doin that. i giv him props. but if i can get the mp3 and his drums ill make the same exact beat. i dont get where the technique comes in.

  • did he release this beat? whats the name of it???

  • @beantownn54 Hassaan Mackey - War

  • Comment removed

  • @vaughnsworld natural swing? what are u talking about? plus i can bet you thousands of dollars that the greats u refer to as such as premo dont use ANY quantize feature or "swing manipulation"

  • 30 NIGGAS IS RETARDED OR HIGH WHEN THIS CAME ON

  • did he just record every part seperatly instead of just chopping?

  • @bartjuhh12 akai 2000 does not have the auto chop

  • dope

  • MAKE`;.SICK,.,BEATS`.`ONLINE'`.;';

    COPY;`:THE`,`ADDRESS`,'ABOVE,.:

  • it´s ill...!!!

  • that has got to be the most crispy snare ive ever heard

  • what is the name of the song after he is done making it?

  • @AndRegistration hassann mackey is the artist the name of the song is war

  • what's the name of the song?

  • dope

  • Isn't this how RZA produces?

  • If Kev Brown had $10 for every dude who got educated off this video he'll have more money than Jay - Z

  • This never gets old, that beat's dope!

  • GOOD PPL!!!! It's all about how u use your equipment and your skill level... i use software AND a MPC 2500.. And i can make the samples and the drums on FL STUDIO/REASON sound JUST like i did it on the MPC.. U got to know how to use filters Compression, EQ, etc, etc.. Every program/hardware has it's own qwerks and different ways to get that "SOUND" u want out of it... YOU as the producer have to find out what makes that program/hardware BANG!!! PEACE!!!

  • @vaynol81 Exactly right and well said.

  • @vaynol81 I agree totally

  • @vaynol81 Thank you very much, one of the most sensible comments I've seen on this vid. Nothing beats the knowledge of understanding how to use filters, compressors etc. Software/digital samplers had been around for as long as mpc's and sp's etc. The Fairlight CMI came out in the early 1980's, mpc came out in like 88. As a producer you have to put the bullshit aside and work with what makes you distinctive (utilize what you have) and seek to be better, instead of bitching all the time.

  • Having and mpc 1000 and then having to use reason, due to being too broke to fix my mpc, I can safely say that anything that i can do on an mpc, I can do in reason... True story...

  • @vaughnsworld oh yea no doubt its got a way better feel and its alot more fun im just saying the actual sounds

  • wow nice beat bro

  • GOOD SHIT KEV WIT YO CURTIS MAYFIELD LOOKING ASS....LOL!!!

  • @KINGDAVID230 oh shit he looks like his twin LMAOOOOOOOO

  • @KINGDAVID230 LOL ive said that shit maad times!

  • howd he take out the strings at first?

  • thats jus unreal. check out the shit he made with kenn starr.

  • oh shit he's using a PT-01 numark turntable haha

  • i have mad respect for old school realness, but jesus this shit is painful to watch how long it takes. ableton might not sound as good right off, but if you know how to use the right plugins you can get the same sound, with 10% of the time. and you can still use vinyl. you don't have to abandon the real old school style and attention to detail to use new school technology. i guess that's just me, and considering i don't make hip hop i just don't have the attachment to the mpc

  • @bravemicrowave You don't have to sample like this on an MP, Kev just does this because that's his style, piece by piece. The xl could have chopped the loop with auto chop, this is just Kev Brown's technique...

  • @bravemicrowave no matter what you do on a computer software, you simply can’t match the sound that someone can get out of an mpc, even if you’re still using vinyl

  • @bewright2787 no offense serious none at all but that makes literally no sense

  • @SuperDylanGraham how does that make no sense? everything you use has it’s own unique sound no matter how noticeable it is to how trained your ear is. there is a difference in everything you use

  • @bewright2787 well yea i quess but you can just get the same sounds that are on an mpc on any software. i dont really see any difference

  • @SuperDylanGraham i’m not saying like you can’t have one wav file on the mpc and put it on any other daw or hardware...of course you can. I’m talking about the feel and influence on the sound that comes from the mpc

  • @bewright2787 Yes you can, but I will concede that it might take a little longer and you better know your software. (I got 4 MPC's and extensive software, so my opinion is based on experience with both). But big up to anyone keeping this classic style of production alive.

  • @bewright2787 very true

  • @bewright2787 this isnt true at all...... a common misconception about the mpc. There is absolutely nothign that changes the sound

  • @grimeshine that’s actually completely wrong what you said, no offense. but the MPC, actually each MPC has different converters and compressors built in them which all affect the audio subtly different that’s why say an 2000XL will add more crispness and popiness to your sound and samples, a vintage sound. And the 1000 will give a more robotic like sound. At least to the basic mix. And the differences between all MP’s and softwares are even more obvious. Especially with the 2000 and older Mp’s

  • @bewright2787 im not taking offense but again this is false... ive been making beats on mpcs for years check my page. saying fancy words like "converters" and "compressors" doesnt make it true. obviously every piece of equiptment in the world has a very minor difference in sound but not nearly enough to notice. (however teh exception being the mpc 3000 and the mpc 60, which actually did have a noticeable difference.)

if your trying to prove a point send me a link to hardware specs.

  • @grimeshine agreed.

  • @bewright2787 ehh not completely true, i use an mpc and id never trade it for anything but if u got an ill soundcard and the extra right gear u can make shit pretty phat on a computer. but out of the box no added stuff? you're definitely right, especially for drums

  • @bewright2787 Whats the difference? People always talkin bout sound thru a mpc like its an effect or sumthin.I made beats that sound like this on fl studio.Whats so special bout a mpc.

  • @hustlafiveofour It's not have anything to do with the beat itself, it just has a special sound or whatever to its sequences.

  • @bewright2787 not trying to start a classic youtube "debate". just curious... what's the difference in the sound out of an mpc compared to using vinyl and a computer program??

  • @CorneliusZelius -there really is no difference actually it is all digital the mixing and mastering make the beat.

  • @bewright2787 lool i can i got mpc 3000 and sp 1200 quantize mapped in logic

  • @bewright2787

An MPC is a computer that runs on software.

  • @bewright2787 I completely agree. Almost, see it has to be an sp1200 with only ORIGINAL vinyl. NO REISSUE. No UBBs no Dusty fingers. And the vinyl must spin at 45rpm when being sampled, then detuned to the proper pitch. Only original Tr 808's can be used no samples, and the 808 cannot have MIDI retrofitted. No vestax, stanton or numark should ever be used in place of a Technic 1200. This is the only way to get the real Hip hop sound.

  • @redirishmanxlt bahahahhahahahaha...... that's one of the single greatest thing's ive ever read on any internet website.

  • @redirishmanxlt i hope to god you're being sarcastic.

  • @bravemicrowave YOU LIL YOUNGINS DONT HAVE NO PATIENCE!!!!.....LOL

  • @bravemicrowave

ya pretty obvious you dont make hip hop..do you even listen to it? dont tell me you can make auto tune and abelton sound like this, furthermore the tediousness and precision is the whole point. anyone can put a beat into ableton to some extent, few can chop it like this! basically autotune is terrible the beats have no boom bap or soul, they are ruining hip hop

  • @jgallagher150 i would only use autotune for a recording session with a horrible singer. i use ableton as a midi sequencer ONLY, and use not one sound from ableton. i get all my sounds from third party software or one shot samples of live instruments that I SAMPLE MYSELF. I use no presets on effects, drums or synths. i use no pre made loops, only loops made by myself. Nepheton + decimort = boom bap, it is possible w/o an MPC. the MPC midi timing it the hardest thing to duplicate not the sound

  • I LOVE SAMPLES MAN, THEY SOUND GREAT

  • Tasty stuff

  • amazing watching the authentic at work

  • He is touching the pads so soft! how does he do that.. I have to 'slap' my mpc for more sound menn! Does anybody know something about this?

  • @EOclique he just hits the full velocity button on the mp no matter how hard you hit the pad the pad plays the sample on it at full volume

  • dope as hell fam

  • natwalkerbeats on myspace

  • did he chop it according the bassline?

  • @seattlednb yeah ,. u can tell cuhs everytime he presses the pad for each chop . u hear a differnt bass note bein hit too

  • kev you have to do a live show again, it was the sht

  • man that beat was soo tight how he chopped it

  • That Shit waz beast;)

  • i cant read the record.. whats the name of the original?

i read cecoli floyd.. but i doubt thats the right name

  • @Brdl The original is Eddie Floyd!!

  • love my MV 8000 dont take as long to chop them samples up but hot shit right here!!!

  • @shamsta19 doesn't take long on the 2kxl either. i too have an mv 8800 and i love it better for chopping samples, but the 2kxl also has a chop function, but i guess kev feels more comfortable doing it this way since he's been doing it so long.

  • This video is amazin man. Great f*ckn talent!

  • This is one of the first beat making videos I ever watched.

  • dope as shit my homie...

  • Yeah, I really did pay attention this time. He was a bit too fast and the video was short. I didn't get much though but I will always pay more attention now. Kev has got a secret I need to know.

  • check out my beat on my channel, and leave a comment. Do I need to drop more? Are you positive about it? Let me Know

  • "i watched this like 7 times mayne...tht dont make no dam since...smh...this sh*t fire...did he ever make a song for this, an if so whats tha name....thts some talent..."

  • Creative ish

  • Boss

  • Nasty! Mane thats str8 nasty! Wow!

  • How I filter the Bass out of a melody ?? Can I do that with my MPC 500 ?

  • @DutcHcHinK apply a low pass filter, you can do this with any sampler

  • @DutcHcHinK yeah you can, you prob want to upgrade from a 500 to a 2kxl

  • @rickylascaze001 I got it ^^ Yes I upgraded but I need a mixer before i can begin ... I hate this ....

  • what he did by "stings please" ? i dont get it....

  • I am a guitar player who started out playing a lot of metal and sort of gravitated to more of an early Muse and Explosions in the Sky type of groove. I recently bought a nice keyboard, but I want a piece of equipment like Kev has here. Can someone let me know what that thing is exactly? Also, could I get some info on what the good brands are for this type of piece? I have only just started to really get into hip hop so excuse me if I don't know what these things are.

    p.s. Kev Brown baaaaaad!

  • @hobbsbd822 that's an MPC 2000XL, & for samplers buy Akai, Roland or Ensoniq, Korg & Yamaha have good workstations as well

  • @MrDirtdevil91 rolands vs series is the best in my opinion

  • @TheDizzydizz

    WORD

i got the VS 890...very rare

its pretty much the 1680's little brother

  • @hobbsbd822 Akai MPC's kevs rockin the 2000xl definitely a good investment

  • flipped the shit outta this sample.. much love to kev

  • "eddie floyd - whatcha gonna do with my heart" is the sample

  • Comment removed

  • what can i say.. this beat is off tha hook!!!

  • looks like the "external source" button on that sp505 was on while he was sampling...might have used that boss filter as an eq. for the budget musician it comes in handy.

  • @3sleeves correct, kev brown uses the 505 as an FX processor (wish he'd make a beat on it someday)

  • kev shoulda kept the original snare for hassaan mackey's song.

  • what song is this? or is it just a sample never released

  • @nikedunks321 look up Hassaan Mackey "War"

  • What drum machine does he use? or his complete set up if you know it?

  • @Devin2200 i think its an akai 2000 or 2000 xl , check out the 5000 if ur intrested in getting one

  • @cathal3191 it's the mpc2000xl

  • @cathal3191 f the 5000

  • quanitizing is overated, fuck that shit i never quanitize... shit sounds raw.

  • serious !!!!! no wake ! fk lil wayne

  • siiiiiiick!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • that shit is HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hasaan mackey - war

  • is there a quantize setting to get the snare like that or is that all manual?

  • @ComatoseStudios

    its natural "swing"

  • @ComatoseStudios kev brown probably doesnt use the quantize cuz his style is just a tad bit off

  • @ComatoseStudios On the stepsequencer (if you use FL) you can switch it to (none). Then you are able to play it without quantize.

  • @ComatoseStudios You can quantize it but i dont think he did.

  • Incredible.
