This video is very choppy. At what point did the woman go out? After she requested her "baby?" It seems like she cried before it kicked in...I thought it was fast acting.
Doctors have CRNA's administer anesthesia to their family members, and themselves all of the time. I am a CRNA and I know. Both anesthesiologists and CRNA's can be great, or terrible. One person having a good or bad experience with either one only means that they had a bad experience. Not that all CRNA's or doctors are good or bad. People should be more responsible about their posts.
Doctors will let CRNAs administer the anesthesia. I am a nurse and we have had this discussion before in my office and all the doctor's said they would let the CRNAs administer the anesthesia because the training is so extensive now days. They even said that sooner or later all you will have is MDAs as the boss and the CRNAs administering all of the Anesthesia. I dont know why people are sooo against CRNAs they have the adequate training to get certified and they are pretty much taking over!!!
cono-if CRNA's were so good (one almost killed me), why do we have MDA's? Answer: anesthesia is the domain of doctors, not nurses.......you comment about an MDA "overseeing" 4 rooms is correct; it's medical malpractice to let CRNA's work without supervision of a MDA (my opinion, not fact)....I have to say that the CRNA who screwed up my anesthesia took responsibility for her errors, something that the MDA would not have done. It wasn;t fun trying to scream with the LMA in place....
You are so right...and CARS should be outlawed too because one almost killed me once....OH WAIT...all cars aren't death mobiles you say???
Maybe generalizations should be left to idiots...OH WAIT, seeing be your comment, they are. CRNAs administer approx. 30 million anesthetics/yr in the US (that is over 65% of all anesthetics given in the US) !!!
If you are having anesthesia, make sure that it's from an anesthesiologist (MD) not a nurse (CRNA)..the two are not the same and anesthesia administered by a nurse is unsafe. No physician would consent to have his/her anesthesia administered by a nurse, why should you?
Are you kidding? CRNA's are the ones you want in the OR with you. We are the ones doing the work and taking care of the patient. What does a MDA do? "Oversee" 4 other rooms... or more like sit in the office on a computer and read the newspaper. Why would I want a CRNA to give me anesthesia? Because we are good at what we do. Thats why.
its so sad that regardless of how skilled nurses are and how much study, energy, effort nurses put in there skill, people will always perceive nurses as inferior to doctors pushing med carts all the time :-(
Lol.. you would think a nice Anestheseologist would add a small dose of local anesthesia to the drug to prevent 'burning from going in'. I guess not. lol
depends.....propofol can actually give you a longer period of apnea than sux can...especially at induction doses. I've seen someone stay apneic for 8 minutes after an LMA placement.
i think they figured since she's young, thin, good TMD, probably MP 1, she'd be easy to mask if need be.
unless they were planning to use an LMA, they'd paralyze her as part of induction....they just don't show it there. Less risk of aspiration, not to mention potential chord damage.
sad... this is what separates good and mediocre anesthesiologists.... this guy will get a patient in trouble one day because he does not pre-oxygenate. this same doc ran into an airway problem with a sleep apnea patient in a different episode! his skill level is extremely poor.
You know, I was thinking the exact same thing! She probably thought that (at the very least) she needed to wear some mascara to look good for t.v., lol! But mascara isn't a good idea either because anesthesiologists use tape on your eyes to help moisturize them and I can only imagine how many lashes this chick lost after the tape was removed...
How ignorant. She is talking about her baby, she may be having some sort of obstetrics/gynaecology procedure under GA, amniocentesis, CVS, or she may have an assisted conception taking place?
Full cosmetic makeover, botox lips and collogen injections. So that's what they mean by "prepping" someone for surgery!

Don't worry we all don't think that way! My wife is a Circulator in the OR I know she is just as important as the MD, CRNA, Scrub,

lidocaine isn't guaranteed to stop the burning from propofol injection. provider preference....some people like to avoid the polypharmacy.
