Hey! is it possible to connect this pickup with the other one inside the guitar? like then i'll have 2 pickups! or can i do it like an electric where i can switch between both? thanks!
Dude - really well done - thanks for this. I like how you thought it out and explained the steps. A thought for you - you are combining the signals at the guitar, but consider a small mixer and running both into it, and even both into your recording rig. Then you can manipulate each independently and really tweak the recorded sound, even in stereo. You got me thinking ... I might have to get the Fishman or something like it and get experimenting! Thanks again.
@ANuisanceRockBand Thanks! A mixer is actually a good idea, but I tend to just use the Fishman these days, it has a really warm sound that I like(probably because it is humbucking). I learned that the name of the game for playing live is "keep it simple", the more things going on, the more potential you have for things to go wrong. However if you end up trying that out, feel free to post a video, I'd be really interested to see it. -Grant
Thanks for sharing the info with everyone. I've been experimenting with overdriven acoustics lately, and reached the conclusion that I need to install a humbucker. I'd like to know how well does that pickup work with a overdrive/ distortion pedal. Thanks in advance for the answer.
@notequinoxe Hey, thanks for the appreciation : ) I just did a test with my acoustic and a cool cat drive/mxr distortion+ The pickup sounds good with overdrive/distortion, there are no adverse effects when you throw some gain on it. The only thing is, make sure you are using a tube amp when distorting your amp. I also have a Acoustic AG30, which is only meant for clean acoustic guitar playing, and that amp sounds awful when you put gain in front of it because it isn't meant to handle it.
@dancanada11 yeah I think that's true, the new ones come with a different pickup. Yeah the dark ones are definitely not as popular, its a really nice guitar though. I play it live pretty much every week and I couldn't be happier
@NeverNervousCreation ah, well I could do that, but having two cords running out of my guitar would be annoying to say the least. I chose the Y cable so that I would only have one.
you've got a very intricate setup so you probably wont mess with it, but have you tried maybe if you had two diferent amps with different effects/sounds? i'm not saying "i COMMAND YOU too!!!" but it'd be interesting to see what you could do
@NeverNervousCreation haha I've hooked up my amps together and used modulation effects(like chorus, reverb, delay; which always sound fuller with two amps) If you ever get a chance to try it, it makes a world of difference. Now, what I think you're saying is to run two amps with different effects for each amp. I haven't tried that but I'd imagine it'd be the same as having two effects going into one amp. Although two amps may sound fuller.

would it be possible to put this into the preamp system in the guitar via a switch?

@newclearwaste found this /watch?v=FNGx793cpnw which gave me an idea of how to do it! I'll just have to test around.

i meant like instead of combining the two outputs to one, have them split off and do different things
