@bigbentree i really like this illustration :) i recently bought myself a tablet so i can begin to draw too. The refining of the lines, did you really only do it by hand? :O I know photoshop got these fancy tricks to make straight lines by holding shift.
how can u color all those under one layer? and not ruining any of the colors? is this a feature available in only Corel Painter? I've always had the installation CD came when i bought my tablet. but i never really learnt how to use it to it's full potential.. I'm just used to Photoshop.. Any tips for a beginner?
@LenCastagnier In digital drawing, is easy to paint color in 100% opacity, which fully covers any color on the current layer. So it will be fine to use a hi opacity brush to draw the edges between different colors on a single layer.
But... No I don't draw everything in one layer... most of the time...
I'm amazed by your work. I noticed that you colored almost everything on a single layer. That must be so hard! How do you keep from messing up so much? I should probably try practicing to color on a single layer as well. :)
this should be a speedpaint....cuzz i mean it is going soo fast XD, and how to's are usually slow, BUT I LUV THIS, I am jealous XD cuzz I can never make that good of a background, i always struggle with that :/
I always design my own christmas cards... since i was little ^^ but now i'm drawing them on the computer and most people didn't figure out i made them....shows how much i improved, although it is kinda saddening too
I know I'm gonna get alot dislikes at this comment :p:D, but it says "How to...", yea nobody likes a smartass, and I even ddn't have that aim-just wanted to see a quality drawing, well done.
Wow, the sky, the snow, the stars and the whole lighting! It's so good! When you focused on the sky and made it full screen I really thought I was being sucked into it! O_O and I really love the roof covered with snow xD
really nice video! a few questions: what settings are you using for your "working brush" basic round and blender? And how to you even get that palette to pop up? I've never been able to figure how to pick out just the brushes I use most. Also, the few times I see everything collapsed into one "canvas" layer...what to you accomplish when you do that? Thanks! This was really informative to watch.
This is really great. Thanks. I had a question. I notice many artists are using Corel Painter instead of Photoshop. Have you tried Photoshop as well for painting? Does Corel have better control for drawing lines? I notice your lines were drawn very smoothly.
I taught myself illustrating, beginning with my childhood passion for Gundam animations. Whenever I saw great manga and anime illustrations, I tried to figure out how they are made. I've been doing this since primary school :-D
Some would say this is the "hard" way of learning illustrating, but I think it is a solid approach. No tutorials or courses can subtitute your own observation and practice.
That being said, I was also given art courses in university. They helped a lot too!
@bigbentree I'm a complete beginner to digital art...Im more of a classical hands on artist but I was wondering how you did this....? I dont understand the whole layer thing or ....I'm lost and I desperately need your help!!!
@TrulyBonkerrs Agreed. PHOTOshop is primarily made for PHOTO manipulation, while Corel PAINTer is made for digital painting. There are of course a lot of suitable brushes available for download for Photoshop to make it more suitable for this kind of work, but I also prefer Sai and Corel myself.
Hey there. Sorry for replying late. Sometimes it's just too difficult to get on YouTube from China. You know what I mean...
Since you asked, I will use Photoshop in my next video. Personally, I think Photoshop is designed more for high efficiency while Painter is made more for artistic elaboration. However, they can achieve similar results as long as you have solid illustrating fundamental skills.
At the end, it's the artist who creates great artworks, not the tools. Agree?
@bigbentree agreed and if its not too much trouble, besides life/figure drawing practice and basic software skills, what other fundamental skills are there? if any
Excuse me, What kind of tablet do you use? Do you use one? :o I'd really like to know, I wanna paint like you :o
