  • I think you can alter it for your own purposes- I say that they've made me tired or sad... It's probably better for younger kids- cos it's a playful type of thing.

  • Keep in mind these techniques work only if you start really early, like he says in the opening at 3 or 4, and are CONSISTENT in the application. Trying this on a teenager not raised in this tradition is like to result in rolled eyes.

  • Energy drain is pretend and it's based on "false logic". How do you relate to kids by being truthful? Wouldn't that be better... I know my kids are too smart to fall for this. And I'm glad they are.

  • I've been trying these techniques with my 3 boys, ages 4, 4, and 6, and when I do this, energy drain, at first they were all for it. Then, it wans't fun anymore, and my one son who is 4, THROWS A FIT. Throwing things, SCREAMING at the top of his lungs, etc. I try to ignore it and leave him there, but I'm afraid he'll break something! He's VERY STUBBORN!! Any ideas on what to do with full blown tantrums???

  • @owensark I'm not sure, but when he would start throwing a fit, I think you would then do the 'oh oh' song and gently take him to his room until he's 'sweet'. Hope that helps : )

  • Our society has ben bombarded with the fear of damaging our children self-esteem that has make parents almost scare to correct their children. common sense people, common sense!!!
