This did not happen, as there was no actaul "war" as such, more of a ideological struggle and proxy wars taking place- that was the Cold War. And if the Soviet Union was not powerful at all, then why was the United States so terrified of it?

@kalslater You're right. If anything the 'war' was a financial and ideological struggle. The CCCP was brought to it's knees by embargo, threat and exception from the world market, not military force. It was perhaps philosophically the second dirtiest war ever fought.

И жрачка была, жильё давали, детям садик школа - БЕСПЛАТНО!, в больницах лечили, а не гробили, заводы работали, предприятия строили. Люди были добрые, отзывчивые. И главное, была уверенность в завтрашнем дне. Были перегибы, куда без них. Но если сравнивать сейчас и тогда - я за тогда, хотя сейчас совсем не жалуюсь на жизнь, просто она сволочная... Enough factual evidence is also available and many people who lived under Communist rule in the USSR and its satellites are still alive and have corroborated all stories. 1st world country is a capitalist country

2nd world country is a socialist country

3rd world country is usually a backward country, not representing any of the systems.

Russia war, and it was really backwards compared to other countries.

After a socialist revolution, it managed to defeat the poverty, destroy the nazi's, and could take a serious war with the other superpower, USA. If Russia was tsarist today, itd be a 3rd world contry
