You know, in almost all the arrangements that have other people/instruments in them, the drums sounds ridiculous. They're out of place, as is the accompanying guy's falsetto next to Justin's. He's so good on his own.
Those drums are dumb. Two dudes on drumkit paying identical, straightforward, crappy beats. The record was so beautiful with the lush harmonies and such, and those drums do not replicate the magic of the album.
i actuali bought the rights of this song off bon iver themselves so its technically against the law for them to perform this song live anymore without paying me a hansome sum in royalties

Fuck I hate retards in crowds who can't shut the fuck up while someone is performing. As if ANYTHING ANYONE has to say is so important that they have to talk over someone's performance. Stay the fuck home if you have the attention span of a six-year-old.
@smallcretzuli No way man. It's all about the ambiance. I agree that there's got to be a level of respect for the performer, but in my opinion if you're playing at a coffee house or a bar, you've got to anticipate people talking. To be honest, he's got the place captivated for the most part anyway. =)
im trying to understand why people are so hung up on the location of bands and inspired genres.
Music is music, if it inspires and captivates you, then it is good music. Nobody has the same opinion. But just because more bands are famous from one city or one country, that does not disregard the other artists and countries accomplishments.
screw that, i really dont care where is from. i'm just glad really really really super glad he sings like he does. is just amazing the emotion.thats more than singing. dont care where is from.
While most great musical acts are from Europe, you have to go back and give some creedance to acts like BB King, Dylan, Hooker, Berry and Johnson. If you think Chuck Berry and Johnnie Johnson weren't THE catalyst for rock and roll you need to open your eyes.
Today's (good) music is more Euro inspired, which is fine. Blues is originally from black spirtuals. Look up any online encylopedia and it'll tell you the same.
"but I think there should be much more great music coming out of this giant, rich, hunk of land." where is your history? jazz......blues all birthed out of new orleans where do you think rock came from? we are the melting pot.
Hopefully you realize most of your so called inventions were inspired by/copies of events in other parts of the world. That American media has popularized the american aspect, due to it being the most capital powerful, doesnt mean they actually created the movement and or music...
It always baffles me how easily america claims something as their own by simply shouting it the hardest off the rooftops. Public perception unfortunatedly works that way, but history doesn't.
History is that Blues started from Negro spirituals and field cries and solidified in New Orleans. History is also that blues went on to inspire Jazz and eventually rock and roll, then in the 60s and 70s the UK artists got a hold of it and threw their own spin on it which did influence how we play to day, but rock and roll, blues and jazz are ALL american inventions. i didn't invent them, so i cant be proud of it, but it is what it is. read a book, punk.
im actually quoting my profesor, who is a doctor of music history for some 30 years now. you should check out field hollers and see if you don't hear the blues. blues, jazz, and rock and roll were not influenced by europe until the 60s. get over it.
Alright this is a revelation, didn't know him one hour ago, but am I the only geek to find him incredibly good and sexy too?
The vocal deepness that he delivers with the drummer & bass player, it's really sensual. this guy is gonna be huge and I dunno if it's good. But people are going to love this band.
i just find in general that most of the music i have is american. there's a lot going on there (probably because of the size of the palce) as opposed to england (where i'm from) where most music is shite.
Almost every revolutionary rock band is out of a foreign country, mostly England. The only truly revolutionary band America's ever had is The Velvet Underground. I do like many American bands/singers, but I think there should be much more great music coming out of this giant, rich, hunk of land.
I'm sorry, but although I'm European and I'd love to agree with you I can't. For a long time my thoughts were exactly the same, but you can't ignore the facts: Robert Johnson, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, The Jimi Hendrix Experience (though partly british), Michael Jackson, Nirvana...etc. These artists popularized the genre and by all means, they were very revolutionary. btw is it fair to have
classical composers in your list?America wasn't really civilized back then.
And I encourage you to make a list of revolutionary European bands, maybe you'll realize the same thing I did: The Beatles, The Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Pink Floyd, David Bowie and Queen are some great names but I can't reach any further actually. Yep, they're all rock and they can't compete with others like Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Bruce Springsteen, The Beach Boys, and the others I mentioned earlier.
I've done this in an open G tuning: G C C G C C. I tried a number of different tunings (E A D F# B B + capo I was a favourite), and this is the one I think works best. On the record, he's tuned just slightly below pitch, but it's easy to figure out if you listen to the ringing top notes (they're both C) and tune backwards from there. <---try that.
