You guys actually dumb? True lasers are just what they are cracked up to be!! And someone who is selling a 50mW and it's like actually a 5mW. All it is, is that some are lower powers than they 'truly' are!

@stfuBUDDY lol when it is reflected off of a balloon such as this the beam is refracted and also distorted. Obviously avoiding eye contact would be great but theres a low risk of blindness if it only touched your retina for a second. A direct beam WOULD blind you though.

@terorvlad It actually depends on how long you stare at the beam and the power output rating. If this laser in question were to quickly catch you in the eye. Then practically no obvious damage will be caused. But if you were to stare at it for prolonged periods of time, you WILL blind yourself. This can also happen by staring at the 'Dot' of higher powered modules :)

@djteac HAHHAHAHA, Despite my best effort to avoid that happening. A dumbass still managed to shine it in my eye. And no, I am not blind but for 4-5 seconds I could only see blue stars. The doctor said that I'm lucky since the battery was drained and there will be only temporary damage and the eye will heal. No wonder they are not alowed in U.S. and any country should do the same !

@hardyzfan253 no it will smoke black things like black leather electrical tape maybe if you have black paper or carpet it will smoke a little, if your looking to burn paper and all diffrent stuff get laser safty glasses and a laser with IR filter with atleast-150-300mw

u can but sometimes on camera it doesnt catch it as much as ur eyes. thats because of the refraction. a camera has one eye and a little bit of a tint to wear out refraction. when u squint ur eyes tightly and look at a light u see the light bend. so ur eyes are more sensative than the camera

@aleksey2324 it's illegal to purchase over 5mW due to shipping laws in the US. however, you actually CAN fix this problem by purchasing a laser MODULE, which isn't illegal to ship. you have to get a separate battery holder (or put the module inside an existing laser housing, which is kind of difficult but there are guides on youtube to do it). I just ordered a 50 mW module yesterday, and I live in ohio.

I can't pop a ballon with mine. i aimed at a baloon for 30 minutes, not moving and the only thing it has done is taking off a small spot of black, leaving it white. the batteries were new. any clue?
