The hospital they are referring to is known as Riverview hospital, and it really is a mental institution.

Its a famous location in Vancouver that is used for ALOT of film productions and TV shows. No show films in Vancouver wihtout using that place a few times.

You know...not only are the Supernatural cast members phenomenal actors/actresses...they're also super-nice, intelligent, funny people! Misha fits right in.
