I was going 70 kph on a gravel road in my 2011 tundra, and I accidentally gave too much gas. The tail swerved and I was going at about a 30 deg angle. The traction control system just fixed it in 2 seconds. I was in control while going sideways pretty much. Tundra ftw

anyone else notice that the silverado was z71 and the tundra had no 4x4...all these vids i see of other truck companies trying to prove themselves against the tundra are cheating...either they have 4x4 vs 4x2 or they dont turn the traction control on the tundra to activate its LSD...tells me that people are intimidated.
What a rigged test. I can tell you from experience of driving on the ice that the Tundra is extremely hard to lose control in. It's 4x4 system matched with traction control and stability control makes it almost impossible
like how the driver did not respond to counter steer to the skid. In the chev it was immediat. it also looked like it was harder to get the tundra to get sideways.

I personally like chevys but i just bought a Tundra. After talking to several Chevy and Toyota dealers i found out that the Toyota was the only one built in the US. The Chevys was built in elsewhere(Mexico i think they said) And besides how much would i be helping our economy by buying a US truck.....not enough for me to spend more and get less....
I have a '09 f350 and a tundra '08. sad to say that most of my pieces on my ford is from mexico and my tundra's engine is made in the huntsville, alabama plant. and the rest of the body pieces of my tundra is made out of the san antonio plant in texas. both trucks are fine to me, i get more hauling in my ford, but i haven't had nearly as much recall issues with my toyota. both drive just as fine. i do get smoother rides & better gas mil in the tundra on the road, but f350 is smoother off road.

Land Cruiser is expensive because of the name, but capabilities are outperformed by other vehicles.
Tacoma is a good seller, but trust me, there way better small trucks in the market around the world, like the VW Amarok.

Rigidity is part of the integrity of every vehicle, obviously, there are shock absorbing and impact energy dissipation areas in case of a collision.
If the integral main structure of the truck is not rigid enough, it will bend and lose stability when loaded or hauling. Again, Tundra is all look and no real truck performance.

Speaking as a Tundra owner who has driven on hazardous roads with the VSC on and off, it's hard to believe it was turned on for this test. Anytime the back end begins to slide significantly, the throttle is cut off.

I personally like chevys but i just bought a Tundra. After talking to several Chevy and Toyota dealers i found out that the Toyota was the only one built in the US. The Chevys was built in elsewhere(Mexico i think they said) And besides how much would i be helping our economy by buying a US truck.....not enough for me to spend more and get less....

I have a '09 f350 and a tundra '08. sad to say that most of my pieces on my ford is from mexico and my tundra's engine is made in the huntsville, alabama plant. and the rest of the body pieces of my tundra is made out of the san antonio plant in texas. both trucks are fine to me, i get more hauling in my ford, but i haven't had nearly as much recall issues with my toyota. both drive just as fine. i do get smoother rides & better gas mil in the tundra on the road, but f350 is smoother off road.

Frontwheel drive cars are quite a bit cheaper to put together than Rearwheel drive cars. And just look at the bumpers of most cars and trucks, they're plastic bumpers under plastic bumper covers.

@CrashJSTest Sonata is selling a lot and already won awards in design, safety and performance....Elantra won several awards on quality and value (Corolla wasnt even close to that). Lancer is also a midzise Sedan, like the Corolla and Civic, FYI.
Land Cruiser is expensive because of the name, but capabilities are outperformed by other vehicles.
Tacoma is a good seller, but trust me, there way better small trucks in the market around the world, like the VW Amarok.

@CrashJSTest About stiffness, dude, you really dont know what is a truck for, right? You cant use a bland structure and chassis in a vehicle designed for heavy duty work. Rigidity is part of the integrity of every vehicle, obviously, there are shock absorbing and impact energy dissipation areas in case of a collision.
If the integral main structure of the truck is not rigid enough, it will bend and lose stability when loaded or hauling. Again, Tundra is all look and no real truck performance.

@CrashJSTest Then you are thinking wrong, young boy. Tundra is a mimic attempt from Toyota to compete with the people that know about heavy duty trucks. The F150 is the most famous truck in its category, not precisely because it is bad, but because it is the best one in the segment.
As an engineer, I speak with numbers, so lets see which is really powerful. Considering the base engines:
F-150: 3.7L V6 302 HP, 278lb-ft 16/21
Tundra: 4.0L V6 270HP, 278lb-ft 13/17
Numbers speak by themself.

wow, that wasn't a fare test at all. the guy in the tundra either cand drive, or was trying to loose it, wile the guy in the silverado took it easy. also, look at the amount of water there was when chevy was doing the "test." all most none. but when the tundra did it, there was a ton of water. what a waist of time, you could atleast try to make it look real...

@CrashJSTest Tundra is for Wannabes. That is weak on towing and payload capacity. The engines are so inefficients and the structure is bland, not stiff or rigid enough for serious punishment. The Tundra is just a show off car, ALL TALK AND NOW WALK.
I preffer a F-150 or a Dodge RAM 1500, Good looking trucks with real power and performance under the skin.
Face it, fanboy, Toyota is nothing but another japanese car maker with overprice vehicles, living from a Fame they cant back up anymore.

It is now overpriced for what it is. For every Toyota you in their line up, there is another model from another brand that outperform it. They havent received any award in for design, nor for performance, nor for safety... At least Hyundai did, in all spots I mentioned and more. Nothing else to say. Bye!

@CrashJSTest Toyota used to be good back in the 90's and early 2000. Now their cars are boring, unreliable and part of recalls on serious parts, potentially fatal. I know Toyota, they built a reputation long time ago, now they CANNOT BACKUP that reputation with the crappy product they are offering. They are now all fame and no real product. They havent won any award and no safety pick selection on safety. Even Hyundai is doing better than them. Face it, Toyota was the real deal, not any more.

I love how everyone automatically says GMC is horrible and all this because it goes up against a Toyota. That must be why the Silverado/Sierra wins best truck of the year, right next to the F-150. Toyota can make a reliable (and boring) car, but America can do trucks much better. I have a 2000 GMC that runs and drives like the day I got it.

Chevy - 0:04 enter area 0:05 1st turn 0:07 2nd turn 0:09 3rd turn 0:10 & 0.5 wheels straight 0:12 perpendicular to camera. Toyota - 0:46 enter area 0:48 1st turn 0:49 2nd turn 0:52 3rd turn 0:53 perpendicular to camera. Now conclusion: Toyota did the same S in T=7sec as chevy in 8. 1 sec in 50kmph ~ 13,8m. What is more, toyota takes 2nd turn in 1 sec and 3rd turn in 3 secs, more agressive - which makes the car more understeer... Most of You got right - unfair test.

Speaking as a Tundra owner who has driven on hazardous roads with the VSC on and off, it's hard to believe it was turned on for this test. Anytime the back end begins to slide significantly, the throttle is cut off.
