  • @mekizte500 Cool story! That's so cool! Wow!

A previous comment (you may notice that my comment is a response) quipped that Americans only speak one language. I, taking the slightest issue with the statement, felt it necessary to project the inaccuracy of such a generalization. I assume that if a person were to make such a broad statement, he or she would care about its veracity.

And I doubt you can actually fluently speak 5. People that can generally don't bother touting it on youtube.

  • fap fap fap..........fap fap

  • Her hotness just went over 9000000

  • wth is her natural hair color?? half the time it looks paleish blonde-other times it looks browningsh with a little red-like wth??!

  • What do you call someone who speaks three languages? Trilingual.

What do you call someone who speaks two languages? Bilingual.

What do you call someone who speaks one language? American.

Bonus: What do you call someone who speaks four or more languages? Probably Genevan.

  • @nliausacmmv I'm American and I know 2 1/2 languages besides English. D: I know Spanish, American Sign Language, and a bit of French. (That's where the half comes from)

  • @a7xroxmysox96 I'm also American, but I'm not always proud of it. I'm from a family with a lot of lingual diversity, so the foreign language programs in most American schools tend to piss me off. By the way, congratulations on your French. I have met very few stupid people that have learned French.

  • @nliausacmmv Or Malaysian!

  • @nliausacmmv Or any other person with an interest for languages.

  • @JHMnation @Soni785

Mainly, I was pointing out that most of the people in Spanish are only taking it because they need a foreign language class and Spanish is easiest. Not all, mind you, but most.

  • @nliausacmmv I'm American and I can speak three languages..

  • @nliausacmmv

What do you call someone who speaks zero languages? Mute.

  • @Karttibone sign language

  • @nliausacmmv You do know America is one of the most diverse countries in the entire world, right? Maybe you should get off the internet and come visit before you pass judgement...... (-;

  • @TheCaptainLucky really? I thought American's didn't care about any other culture- they only kind of care about their own

  • @TheCaptainLucky Yeah but can you point out on the map where is it all those cultures are coming from? Culturally diverse, yes culturally educated, not so much.

  • @TheCaptainLucky Right, I'll see if I can find some tickets from Iowa to America.

  • @nliausacmmv Genevan as in from Geneva in Switzerland? If so I agree.

  • @nliausacmmv What do you call someone who's annoyed by their country and is learning their 3rd language so that they can travel the world and make a difference? An American trying to better themself. Keep that in mind

  • @nliausacmmv

Most people in Europe are monoglots, not just Americans. The only reason foreigners speak more than one language is because they also speak English, the international language. It doesn't mean that most people outside the US speak other languages.

  • @regelemihai I think that Europeans have a lot more interest in other cultures and languages because we're all so close to each other geographically. So apart from English there's some interest in French and German and maybe Spanish/Italian. Whereas Americans are exposed to just Spanish maybe.

  • @weirdo033

True; the geography and cultural make-up is also a determining factor. But at least for me, speaking from personal experience, most of my friends in Europe (Germany, and East Europe) speak their native tongue and English. It's rare to come across someone who has learned a second language from school alone.

  • @regelemihai Not from schools that's for sure even though I was taught a lot of them I never got to a high level, had to take extra classes. But most of my friends can speak another language apart from their native and English, or at least take interest in some other culture/language. Whereas any British or American person I come across, their interest won't go further than just visiting for holidays. There's some sort of lack of awareness when it comes to the rest of the world.

  • @regelemihai Maybe it's just me, it's not some Europe vs America argument. Surely there's loads of people whatever their origin who just won't bother in what's going on around their country. But I just find it bizarre whenever I come across one because I get generally really fascinated with other cultures!

  • @nliausacmmv im american?

  • @FINOIWolf Are you?

  • @nliausacmmv no?

  • @nliausacmmv OK, I've been getting a lot of angry replies. I'm American as well, so they have no base. Thanks to @regelemihai for starting up a philosophical discussion here. I'm from a family with diverse lingual skills, so I am justified in every way to make this comment. For those of you that are still angry, it's a joke!

  • @nliausacmmv I can speak 4 languages wait, I need to speak 4 languages.

  • @nliausacmmv ...I'm American and I can speak three languages.

  • @XDXDXDXDXDXDXD Woooh i'm french and I can speak 3 languages... :)

  • @XDXDXDXDXDXDXD I'm German and i can speak five languages... :) So who cares?

  • @ssuueex3 Fünf Sprachen? Welche?

Woher kannst du so viele Sprachen sprechen?

  • @XDXDXDXDXDXDXD who cares? im from argentina and i can speak 5

  • @Mekizte500 Cool story! That's so cool! Wow!

A previous comment (you may notice that my comment is a response) quipped that Americans only speak one language. I, taking the slightest issue with the statement, felt it necessary to project the inaccuracy of such a generalization. And I doubt you can actually fluently speak 5. People that can generally don't bother touting it on youtube.

  • @nliausacmmv Who Speaks More than 3 langueges, h's absolutely Moroccan !

  • @nliausacmmv

I'm from geneva and I agree with you.

  • @nliausacmmv The Brits have prided themselves on keeping only to the noble language that is English. Why speak those other dreadful languages, anyways? (I hope you detect the sarcasm in this)

  • @Dorito127

I agree with you though - why do you need anything other than English?

  • @hedonism13 of course, if you are narrow minded you don't need another language

  • @MegaGlee4ever

What is open minded about pursuing a foreign language? You'll only butcher it if you get it wrong, and if you do it right, what do you get out of this multi year investment? I can read a few foreign languages; I don't need to speak them.

  • @hedonism13 Out of this multi year investment you get the ability to speak easily with foreign people because you can't expect them to speak english. everybody doesn't necessarily speak english

  • @nliausacmmv I am brazilian and I speak 4 languages. I recognize that in Brazil it's not very common to speak more than one language, (when we does, probably Spanish), but wht I am trying to say is, we shouldn't say that some country MUST be like that. This is more personal, actually.

  • she lived in france till she was 5..

  • She said : Hello , How are u? I'm very excited about the release of the movie.

  • @justforfreegame Well, you definitely don't speak like French do that's for sure

  • @justforfreegame Nous étudions, mais est quand nous avons 15 ans. C'est terrible.

  • I'm french, and I only understood the "Bonjour, ca va?" part....

  • The United State is a HUGE country. It is not like Europe with a bunch of countries with many languages in a small area. It would be important for a European to know multiple languages unlike in the US, thus it not being important for most Americans to become fluent in a 2nd language. I took Spanish in high school and I know a bit more since then as my fiancee's family is descended from Mexico and fluently speaks Spanish, but i'm not fluent by any means.

    Think before you start criticizing...
